Volcano Eruption in Indonesia Sends Ash 10km Into Sky

Israa Farhan A volcano in eastern Indonesia erupted on Friday, releasing a towering ash plume nearly 10 kilometers high, just weeks after a previous eruption disrupted air travel in Bali. Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki, located on the tourist island of Flores and standing at 1,584 meters, erupted following a build-up of volcanic gases, according to Indonesia's National Volcanology Agency. The agency confirmed the ash cloud rose approximately 10 kilometers above the summit. Agency chief Muhammad Wafid stated that the eruption was caused by a gas accumulation over recent weeks. He warned that the eruption could trigger dangerous volcanic mudflows or debris flows, particularly if heavy rainfall occurs. These flows could pose serious threats to communities located near rivers surrounding the volcano. No casualties or damage have been reported so far, but authorities have advised residents and tourists to avoid activities within a 6-kilometer radius of the volcano. Last month, the same volcano erupted, sending ash 18 kilometers into the sky and causing the cancellation of 24 flights at Bali's airport. Indonesia is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region known for high volcanic and seismic activity. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Tehran Shuts Public Toilets Amid Worsening Water Crisis

Israa Farhan Authorities in Tehran have closed many public toilets across the city as part of emergency government measures to address Iran's deepening water crisis, according to local media reports. The closure, which includes facilities in metro stations, has drawn public criticism. Iran watchdog outlet Didban slammed the government for cutting off access to what it called a basic human need. While Tehran's city administration has not officially commented, eyewitnesses confirm that numerous public restrooms are no longer accessible. There are an estimated 20,000 public toilets in the greater Tehran area, many of which have reportedly been shut down. Iran is currently facing a growing energy and water shortage, with water cuts lasting up to 48 hours in parts of the capital and at least 50 other cities. The crisis has been worsened by long electricity outages that prevent residents from using air conditioning, even as temperatures soar to between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius. President Masoud Pezeshkian recently warned that the country is on the brink of a severe water shortage. He urged citizens to reduce consumption, warning that excessive use could push Iran into a critical shortage by September or October, according to the Tasnim News Agency. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Tesla Ordered to Pay $242 Mln in Florida Autopilot Crash Case

Israa Farhan A jury in Florida has ordered electric car giant Tesla to pay $242 million in damages over a 2019 fatal crash that involved its Autopilot feature. The case centred around a collision in Key Largo that resulted in the death of Nibel Benavides Leon and serious injuries to her friend, Dillon Angulo. The plaintiffs claimed Tesla's Autopilot system was partially responsible for the crash. According to court documents, the Tesla, driven by George McGee, veered into an oncoming Chevrolet vehicle, allegedly due to a malfunction or misuse of the Autopilot system. The jury found Tesla partially liable and awarded punitive damages of $200 million, in addition to $59 million to Leon's family and $70 million to Angulo's. Because Tesla was found to be one-third responsible, the final amount payable by the company was reduced to $242 million, according to attorney Darren Jeffrey Russo, who represented both families. Tesla plans to appeal the decision. Its legal team argued the crash was caused by driver error, claiming the driver was speeding, pressing the accelerator pedal, and distracted while searching for a dropped phone. In a statement, Tesla emphasized that no vehicle in 2019 could have avoided the collision, insisting the incident had no connection to its Autopilot feature. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
