CUET UG 2025 Result: As the National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to declare the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) results today, let us look at last year's data on student performance across subjects. From business studies to lesser-known languages, the CUET UG result last year saw a wide variation in the number of students securing full marks.

In 2024, Business Studies emerged as the subject with the highest number of full scores, with a staggering 8,024 candidates scoring the maximum marks of 200. The subject's popularity and scoring potential have made it a favorite among commerce stream students. In 2023, as many as 2,357 candidates scored the maximum marks in the subject.
Closely followed by political science, where 5,141 students scored the maximum marks – 200. English was the third most scoring subject in CUET UG last year where 1,683 students achieved a perfect score of 200. In 2023, however, English was the top subject where most students (5,685) scored the maximum marks. The subject's wide adoption and structured syllabus likely contributed to the high success rate.
Other high-scoring subjects included psychology, where 1,602 students scored 200 marks and accountancy/ book keeping where 1,135 students scored 200 marks. In biology/ biological studies/ biotechnology and biochemistry, as many as 835 students scored the maximum marks – 200, showing strong performances from both science and commerce backgrounds.
On the flip side, several niche and regional languages saw only one or two candidates scoring full marks. Subjects like Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Manipuri, Mizo, Kashmiri, Konkani, Russian, Sanskrit, and even foreign languages like French, German, Spanish, and Tibetan had just one to two top scorers each.
Interestingly, environmental studies, despite its relatively lower maximum score of 170, saw only two candidates getting the full marks — reflecting either a tougher evaluation standard or limited participation.
The data reveals that while mainstream subjects offer a broader competitive pool with more high scores, niche subjects can still be strategic choices — especially for those students confident in their strengths. With CUET UG becoming a gateway to multiple central universities, understanding scoring trends can help students make smarter academic choices.
As we await the CUET UG 2025 results, these patterns from last year may just offer a clue to what's ahead. Around 13.5 lakh candidates appeared in CUET UG this year. CUET UG 2025 was held from May 13 to June 4.

Scored Low in CUET UG 2025? Here's what you can do next

The much-anticipated CUET UG 2025 results are out, and while many are celebrating soaring scores and dream college call-ups, there exists another reality, one less glorified, but just as common. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Thousands of students find themselves staring at unexpectedly low scores, dreams momentarily stalled. But is a low CUET score the end of the road? Absolutely not. In India's hyper-competitive education landscape, an entrance test score often feels like the final verdict. But seasoned educators and counsellors will tell you otherwise, success is rarely linear. If your CUET UG 2025 rank has not met expectations, this moment can still be a powerful launchpad for alternative, equally meaningful career trajectories. The numbers don't define you Let's start by confronting the fear: A low CUET score can feel devastating. But it's essential to remember that entrance exams measure performance, not potential. They don't account for creativity, resilience, leadership, or passion, qualities that often shape remarkable careers. The road ahead may require recalibration, but not retreat. Explore private universities and institutes Several reputed private universities such as Ashoka, Shiv Nadar, and FLAME University offer undergraduate programmes with their own entrance tests or holistic admission processes. These institutions value more than just scores, they consider SOPs, interviews, extracurriculars, and leadership potential. Look into skill-based diplomas and certifications Fields like digital marketing, UI/UX design, graphic design, animation, and content creation are booming, and often don't require a traditional college degree to get started. Platforms like NSDC, Coursera, upGrad, and Skill India offer certifications that can jumpstart a lucrative career. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Consider open universities or distance learning The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and state open universities offer flexible and affordable undergraduate programmes. These can be pursued alongside internships, skill training, or entrepreneurial projects, giving you real-world exposure while earning a degree. Take a gap year, but make it count A year of focused self-work, preparing for CUET again, building your portfolio, interning, or volunteering, can transform your academic and personal trajectory. A planned gap year isn't a waste; it's an investment. Embrace vocational courses and new-age careers Short-term courses in fields like filmmaking, event management, culinary arts, gaming, fashion, or hospitality can open doors to unconventional yet rewarding careers. These paths value hands-on skills over theoretical marks. Don't underestimate the power of plan B History is filled with examples of individuals who didn't crack the 'right' exam but went on to lead exceptional lives. Not getting into a top college does not automatically translate to failure. What you choose to do now, how you adapt, learn, and persist, will ultimately determine your future. Keep the bigger picture in sight It's easy to feel lost in a system that often prioritises scores over skills. But remember, a single number cannot define your capabilities. Success today is no longer tied exclusively to traditional academic paths. With the digital economy, gig opportunities, and global access to education, your career can be built on passion, purpose, and persistence, not just a percentile. So, if CUET UG 2025 didn't go your way, take a breath. Regroup. Rethink. And then move forward, not in defeat, but in quiet, powerful defiance of the notion that one exam gets to write your story. The chapter isn't closed, it's just a plot twist.

Ignou introduces new programmes in development communication and journalism

New Delhi: To address the evolving challenges of inclusive growth and sustainable development, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced two forward-looking academic programmes: a postgraduate diploma in development communication and an MA in development journalism. These courses aim to equip learners with the skills needed for impactful media engagement and strategic communication. They are tailored for those seeking to play a critical role in bridging the gap between policymakers and the public, using media and communication as tools for awareness, participation, and transparency in developmental processes. "As India continues to grapple with the demands of equitable growth, climate change, and social empowerment, the need for communicators who can navigate the intersection of policy and public engagement has become increasingly urgent. The PGDDC, a one-year diploma, and the two-year MADJ programme are designed to train learners in strategic communication, development reporting, policy analysis, and research," an official said. Both programmes are open to graduates from any discipline and are delivered in English, with learning materials available in both digital and print formats. "The curriculum is structured to build critical skills in writing, journalism, community media, planning, and programme evaluation—all within the broader context of achieving the sustainable development goals," added the official. These programmes are particularly suited for aspiring development communicators, NGO professionals, govt officers, educators, and those working with national or international development agencies.
