The Indian Premier League is a world of intense pressure and constant evolution, where success is fleeting and expectations are sky-high. As franchises relentlessly seek the perfect winning formula, the coaching staff often finds itself under immense scrutiny. With the massive IPL 2026 mega-auctions on the horizon, the stakes are even higher, promising significant changes. Chandrakant Pandit Resigns from KKR
2 / 8
In a significant development, Chandrakant Pandit has resigned as the head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite leading KKR to the IPL 2024 title, a disappointing eighth-place finish in IPL 2025 led to his departure. This move highlights the unforgiving nature of the league, where past glories don't guarantee future security, especially with a major squad overhaul looming. Justin Langer (Lucknow Super Giants - Head Coach)
3 / 8
Justin Langer finds his position as LSG's head coach under scrutiny after their seventh-place finish in IPL 2025. Reports suggest his future is uncertain, particularly with the recent appointment of Bharat Arun as the new bowling coach. LSG's management might be looking for a fresh approach to turn their fortunes around before the mega-auction. They will be focusing on an All India coaching setup. Daniel Vettori (Sunrisers Hyderabad - Head Coach)
4 / 8
Daniel Vettori oversaw SRH's IPL 2025 campaign, where they finished sixth and missed the playoffs. Despite his efforts, the team's inconsistent performances put his role in question. Franchises often seek a complete reset when results don't align with expectations, making a coaching change a likely first step before rebuilding the squad. Kumar Sangakkara (Rajasthan Royals - Director of Cricket & Head Coach)
5 / 8
Kumar Sangakkara, in his dual role for Rajasthan Royals, has seen the team struggle for consistent success, finishing a disappointing ninth in IPL 2025. With a mega-auction on the horizon, the Royals' management might opt for a new strategic direction. This could mean a change at the top to optimize their squad building and on-field performance. Vikram Rathour (Rajasthan Royals - Batting Coach)
6 / 8
As Rajasthan Royals' batting coach, Vikram Rathour is also under pressure following the team's poor IPL 2025 showing. While not the head coach, specialist coaches are often part of a broader review process. The franchise's desire to rebuild and improve performance ahead of the IPL 2026 mega-auction could lead to changes across the entire coaching staff. Paras Mhambrey (Mumbai Indians - Bowling Coach)
7 / 8
Paras Mhambrey, Mumbai Indians' bowling coach, is another key support staff member whose position could be impacted. MI reached the playoffs in IPL 2025 but fell short of the final, a rare occurrence for the five-time champions. In the high-stakes IPL environment, even successful franchises scrutinize all aspects of their setup for a fresh approach. IPL 2026 Auctions: Anything Can Happen!

The IPL 2026 mega-auctions are set to be a watershed moment, promising significant shifts in team compositions and strategies. Coaching changes are often the first domino to fall as franchises prepare for a fresh start. With so many prominent names under pressure, the lead-up to the next season is bound to be filled with drama and anticipation.

Sarfaraz Khan, Shreyas Iyer eye Test comeback as they confirm availability for Duleep Trophy

India batters Sarfaraz Khan and Shreyas Iyer have confirmed their availability to participate in the Duleep Trophy for the West Zone. The tournament is set to begin on August 28, and the zonal selection will happen on Friday afternoon. Speaking to Hindustan Times, sources with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed that both Shreyas and Sarfaraz Khan have confirmed to the cricket body their willingness to participate in the tournament. India's Shreyas Iyer during England's tour of India in 2024(AFP) Apart from Shreyas and Sarfaraz, Shivam Dube and Tushar Deshpande have also confirmed their intention to participate in the tournament. West Zone have already qualified for the semi-final and they will take on the winner of the quarter-final on September 4. "Yes, Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan have confirmed their availability. Tushar Deshpande and Shivam Dube are available as well for the crucial tie," the source told Hindustan Times. Shreyas Iyer currently finds himself out of favour when it comes to being picked for the Test side. He has played 14 Tests for India, scoring one century and five fifties. His performance in the domestic season for Mumbai last season led to people believing that he would be picked in the Test squad for the series against England. However, it was quite the contrary as the Ajit Agarkar-led committee looked past him for the five-match series. At that time, Agarkar had said, "Shreyas had a good ODI series, played well in domestic as well, but right now there's no room in Test cricket." On the other hand, head coach Gautam Gambhir had said that anyone can make a comeback into the Test squad as long as they keep grinding it out in domestic cricket. Earlier this year, Shreyas Iyer led Punjab Kings to the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but the side came up short against Rajat Patidar's Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Sarfaraz Khan eyes comeback Sarfaraz Khan, who has been piling on the runs in domestic cricket, was overlooked for the England tour despite grinding it out and losing several kilos. The right-handed batter's weight has been a talking point for so long; hence, it is no surprise that he decided to work on the same. Sarfaraz, who scored 150 runs in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test against New Zealand last year, failed to set the stage on fire in the next two Tests, and this led to him warming the bench in the entire Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Shardul Thakur and Yashasvi Jaiswal are unlikely to be picked in the West Zone squad as they were part of India's squad for the England tour and have been on the road for almost two months. Earlier, the South Zone had named Tilak Varma as their skipper for the Duleep Trophy. The likes of KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj have not been picked in the team.

IND vs ENG: 'Banned for 2 years from IPL, costed millions' - ECB chair praises England players' mentality

Gus Atkinson of England is mobbed by team mates after running out Shubman Gill on Day One of the 5th Test at The Oval (Photo by) As rain interrupted proceedings on Day 1 of the fifth and final Test between India and England, a strong message came from ECB chair Richard Thompson. The official lauded the commitment of England players, highlighting batter Harry Brook 's decision to pull out of IPL 2025 despite the financial cost. Brook had been bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.2 crore in the IPL mega auction, but the 26-year-old withdrew just days before the start of the tournament to prioritise playing for England. That decision has led to a two-season IPL auction ban for the right-hander. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Look at Harry Brook, who we hadn't even had a conversation with about taking on the white ball captaincy, and he knows by not playing in this year's IPL he is then banned for the next two years,' said Thompson. 'That decision cost him several million dollars, and it wasn't even a thought that he wouldn't do that.' Thompson reflected on a broader question being asked across the cricketing world: 'Is this when players start to prioritise franchise cricket over playing for their country?' The current predicament can also be seen in the way certain teams have seen players retire early from the National team setups to focus on franchise cricket and other T20 leagues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like When the Camera Clicked at the Worst Possible Time Read More Undo But in his view, the answer from within the England setup is clear. 'It could not be further from the reality of the dressing room that Baz (Brendon McCullum) has created there with Rob (Key) and a brilliant captain in Ben (Stokes). It has transformed the sense of everyone wanting to be part of that dressing room,' Thompson said. 'And as part of that decision to make Baz both white-ball coach as well as red-ball coach, he has created that golden thread. So the desire for any English cricketer to play for England, I don't think has ever been greater.' Under head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, England have looked united and competitive, even as they battle a spirited Indian side in the ongoing series. Poll Should players prioritize national duty over franchise leagues like IPL? Yes, national duty should come first No, players should choose what's best for their careers As tensions flared and arguments broke out between the two sides, the hosts have looked like a solid unit, standing their ground and backing their players over the four Tests that have concluded. KL Rahul to KKR? Which teams has he played for in the IPL

KL Rahul (Photo by) KL Rahul could be on the move again. The Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly interested in bringing the experienced India batter into their squad ahead of IPL 2026. While the trade may not go through easily, the buzz has already started around Rahul's next destination. Rahul has had quite the IPL journey. He began with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 for just INR 10 lakhs. After a brief stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and 2015, he returned to RCB in 2016 and played a key role in their run to the final. Unfortunately, he missed the 2017 season due to injury. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! It was with Punjab Kings, though, that Rahul truly came into his own. Bought for INR 11 crore in 2018, he was made captain and became one of the most consistent run-scorers in the league. After four seasons, he joined Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 for a whopping INR 17 crore and led them to the playoffs in his first year. However, he was ruled out of the 2023 season midway due to an injury he suffered during fielding in a match against RCB and 2024 was a disappointing campaign as LSG did not make the playoffs.
