She gave the electric performance in front of hundreds of fans who packed into the shopping centre to see her show.
It came as the star released her new single 'Is This What You've Been Waiting For' today and it will be part of her album of the same name will be released on July 11.
Amy promised her bumper sixth album will feature a song for everyone and were inspired by 'the treadmill of life' and will pay homage to live music.
In a sit down chat with The Scottish Sun, she said: 'The opening single, Is This What You've Been Waiting For, was just initially inspired by live music.
'I saw amazing videos of U2 performing at the Sphere venue in Las Vegas and it just got me so incredibly excited just thinking how nothing can replicate a gig.
'I think with all the advancements in AI and stuff like that a lot of people worry about music and all of that. but I don't think anything will ever be able to replace that feeling of being at a live show and that's kind of where that inspiration came from.
'It was then just more so about the kind of treadmill of life and working and all of that.'
One song on the new album came from one live music experience, when she was shocked by the great reception she received at the TRNSMT festival.
Despite being nervous about performing at the major event, she said the atmosphere generated by the young fans was so energetic she dedicated the song to them,
Amy added: 'Another song on my record called Can You Hear Me was actually inspired by the audience at the TRNSMT Festival.
'I played that a few years ago and I was a bit nervous going out because the crowd were really young and I thought to myself, gosh, some of these kids wouldn't even have been born when these songs were coming out. They're not going to enjoy this. They're not going to know anything.
'I was so taken aback by how they just knew every word and they were just having the time of their life and I was just so moved by it that I went back and I wrote the song Can You Hear Me?
'It's basically an anthem for the young people of today. I just thought they were really inspiring and it was just great to see so much happiness in a world of doom and gloom. I just felt really enthused by the younger generation and they inspired that song.'
Amy will be embarking on a huge tour of the UK and Europe - where she has sold out shows across Switzerland and Germany.
Amy's hails Glasgow's music scene
EXCL BY HARRY WILLIAMSON
Amy MacDonald told how growing up in the city where live music is the lifeblood saw great opportunities for her to break onto the music scene.
She said: "I think a lot of people will be quite inspired by that. I would too.
"We have so many venues and it was really great for me growing up here because there were so many venues that I could play.
"I was able to get out and play gigs constantly and there's just always been that accessibility here and it's really great.
"I remember playing the King Tut's for the first time and I was just a support act for another artist.
"I think it was an American artist and I was just on there to play at the start. But obviously all my friends and family came and for me that was like, oh my god I'm playing the King Tut's.
"Even now when I go back and I see my name on the stairs I just think that's amazing. I think we're really lucky to have a venue like that that has so much history behind it.
"Then obviously you've got the Barrowlands which I've just loved from day one. They put me in their hall of fame because I played there so many times and I wrote a song about the place as well.
"So we are just kind of spoiled for choice here in Glasgow."
But it will see her come back to her hometown and perform at the OVO Hydro on December 12 - which is set to be a special experience for the Bishopbriggs-born singer.
She said: 'My concert agent had been asking me to play the Hydro for years previously and I would always say no because I just thought I'm not going to be able to sell all of those tickets.
'So when we put it on sale the last time and sold it out I was completely blown away by that.
'I was like gosh, after all this time people still want to come to these gigs and it just means so much to me.
'So to be able to do that a second time is really exciting and we had the best time doing it previously and it was just one of those nights that felt really special and felt like there was a real incredible atmosphere.
'I'm looking forward to that again. It's something you can't replicate anywhere other than where you are and I'm lucky that I'm from Glasgow.
Amy's gesture to superfan
BY HARRY WILLIAMSON
AMY MacDonald superfan Maree Cameron travelled through from Edinburgh with mum Carolyn, 46, to see Amy perform.
The youngster, 11, recalled how she send a personally-made card to the singer to tell her she was her favourite artist and she got a special response.
Maree said: "I really enjoyed the show. I've been a fan for as long as I can remember.
"I sent her a card once to tell her she was my favourite artist and I really liked her songs.
"She actually wrote back to say thank you and gave us a free CD."
Mum Carolyn added: "We would love to see her at the Hydro, we're already signed up to get tickets.
"It was lovely to see her live today and we really like the new song."
'We've got the added bonus that everybody knows that Glasgow crowds are the best.
'So when you add that to it being your hometown as well. It's like a double whammy of specialness.'
Amy delivered an electric performance for the hundreds of fans who had gathered to see her perform.
She performed new tune Is This What You've Been Waiting For' alongside classic hits The Hudson and Statues.
But the crowds erupted into applause as they clapped and danced along to her iconic tunes Mr Rock and Roll and This Is The Life.

Michelle Keegan stuns fans with bikini snaps just months after giving birth

Former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan became a first time mum in March this year - but she is already back promoting her swimwear brand and showing off her latest designs Michelle Keegan may have given birth to her first child just four months ago, but she is already back to work and flogging bikinis that she has designed - winning support and praise from fans in the process. ‌ The 38-year-old former Coronation Street star became a first time mum in March this year as she welcomed her daughter, named Palma, with her husband - reality star Mark Wright, 38. Most new mothers in the UK take advantage of the 26-52 weeks statutory maternity leave once welcoming their bundle of joy. ‌ But Michelle proved she was ready and raring to get back to work this weekend as she modelled her latest line of bikinis and beach wear from her Orfila Bee fashion line. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Michelle shared a collection of snaps of herself wearing a brown bikini and a cowgirl hat. ‌ She paired the items with a lightweight white sarong which was tied around her waist and a white summer beach top that covered her arms. The star uploaded the images to her main grid alongside a caption stating: "We really did make the chicest cover up @orfilabee." Fans were stunned to see Michelle back at work - and showing off her toned figure. One impressed follower remarked in the comments section: "Thought she just had a baby?" While another echoed: "How have you just birthed a child?" ‌ Earlier this month, it was revealed that Michelle has been "torn" over her future - with the possibility of big acting roles and her new role as a mother pulling her in opposite directions. A source told The Mirror last weekend: 'Michelle has always been a hard worker, so she's torn between staying at home with Palma and getting back out there. 'It's not an easy industry – you're self-employed so you never know when your next job might be. It's still really early days, but these are the questions she's asking herself, because she's very much in demand. Everything Michelle touches lately seems to turn to gold.' ‌ Weeks earlier it was reported that Stockport-born Michelle had signed a six-figure deal to become the new face of Sky – alongside Luther star Idris Elba. Arguably still most famous for playing Tina McIntyre on Coronation Street from 2008 until 2014, Michelle went on to carve out an impressive acting career across a variety of genres. She made an impact as an army soldier in the hit BBC show Our Girl from 2016 until 2020. And more recently she enjoyed success on the Netflix drama Fool Me Once, and has won fans for her comedy work on the Sky series Brassic. Away from acting, she has drawn further attention for her fashion collaborations - and her romantic life. She began dating The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright in 2013 - and they became engaged that same year. It wasn't until May 2015 that they tied the knot - and then almost 10 full decades later, the happy couple started their own family with the arrival of Palma.

Lewis Capaldi reveals he reached 20st & is on anti-psychotic medication after Glastonbury breakdown Another added: "I am SO here for this." While a third shared: "The Gregg's collab is iconic." Recently, Lewis opened up about his troubling 2023 Glastonbury set, in which he couldn't sing after struggling with Tourettes and anxiety from which he then took a two-year hiatus. Lewis said the performance was a wake-up call after neglecting his mental and physical health for years. He told The Sun at the time: "I think I probably knew two songs into the set at Glastonbury that I couldn't do it. "I was on stage and I was on complete autopilot. In my head I was feeling a thousand miles away and I watched it back and I feel sad. As far as I was concerned, I was done indefinitely. "I didn't take a break to just focus on getting better. I took a break because I needed a break to release the pressure value a little bit." The star ultimately made a triumphant return to music at Glastonbury 2025. In a heart-warming video posted on his social media, he revealed his true feelings surrounding the burn-out. Speaking from the heart, he told fans: "One word to describe how I'm feeling now is... spectacular." Looking back over his Glastonbury experience in 2023, he admitted: "This should be like, a really happy moment, and it isn't. "I'm like, achieving my dream here. If there was a film about being a singer, and starting as a kid, and they'd be like, Oh, I'd love to be a singer one day and perform in front people, I've done it. "I've got to the end of the film and it's not how I thought it was going to be. "And all these people are singing at me and I feel 1,000 miles away there, and I watch it back and actually feel sad. "Second song in, I was probably just thinking, this has to be it, like... I can't keep doing this to myself. "As far as I was concerned, it was like, I'm done. I didn't take a break to just focus on getting better. "I took a break because I needed a break and to sort of release the pressure valve a little bit."

Patsy Kensit signs up for ‘terrifying' BBC gig with former Corrie star after quitting Celeb SAS

PATSY Kensit has filmed a major BBC gameshow just days after it was revealed she was forced to quit Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The former EastEnders star, 57, broke her shoulder while training for the gruelling C4 reality show and was sent home by production after flying to Morocco to film. 5 Her next project is nowhere near as daring, though she has branded it "terrifying". Patsy revealed she signed up to appear on a celebrity edition of The Weakest Link. The actress shared a snap of herself on the train to Glasgow, where the show is filmed, alongside the caption: 'On my way up the road to glorious Glasgow with a broken shoulder, no make up but not a broken spirit! To film the Weakest Link. I'm terrified.' She then shared a behind-the-scenes snap from the show's iconic set, writing: 'who is the weakest link????' Also filming the BBC quiz series was Coronation Street legend Colson Smith. The actor, who recently bowed out of the show after more than 13 years in the role of Craig Tinker, posted a snap of his dressing room at the show's Glasgow based set. There was no sign of the sling Patsy has recently been pictured wearing in her Instagram upload. An insider told us that her injury was caused by a painful fall. They said: ' Patsy had been running at pace on a treadmill while wearing a weighted backpack filled with books and weights as part of her intense training regime. 'The added weight caused her to lose balance and fall backwards off the machine, bruising her arm and shoulder in the process. Liam Gallagher's ex wife Patsy Kensit reveals if she will be going to see Oasis tonight as reunion tour kicks off 'She even flew out to Morocco, where the filming was taking place, but production soon spotted the injury and she was sent home.' Her agent was grateful that production spotted the injury and she is now recuperating in the UK. Patsy spoke briefly of the injury after she was spotted wearing a sling at the theatre. She shared: "I broke my shoulder in 3 places 3 weeks ago!!! I'm healing and a slight boogie with my besties I'm staying with this week will be a tonic for sure …' The actress, who has son Lennon with Liam Gallagher, revealed she won't be attending any of her ex's Oasis reunion shows. She told GMB: "My 24-year-old son, he'll be there and he'll have a lovely time. "Great for him to see all of that and I'm happy for his dad, I think it's a wonderful thing." But she said: "I won't be attending." The actress added: "I send only love and light." Patsy and Liam were married for three years from 1997 until 2000, and welcomed their son Lennon in 1999. 5 5
