N.S. Mountie facing another sexual assault charge
The Serious Incident Response Team says it learned in March of an allegation against 40-year-old RCMP Const. William McNutt.
The independent body says the allegation involves an incident in January 2023 described by a woman known to the officer.
McNutt was charged with sexual assault on Monday and is expected to appear in provincial court in Shubenacadie, N.S., on Thursday.
On June 23, the watchdog said McNutt was charged with sexual assault involving a woman who alleged she had been sexually assaulted by a Nova Scotia Mountie in May 2024.
The RCMP said it suspended McNutt without pay in January 2024 over separate allegations that resulted in three other charges of sexual assault and other related charges that were laid in July 2024.

3-year-old drowns at Long Sault, Ont. beach: OPP
An Ontario Provincial Police crest is pictured on an officer's uniform. (Supplied) Police say a three-year-old child died after drowning at an eastern Ontario beach Saturday afternoon. Ontario Provincial Police say emergency services responded to Mille Roches Beach in Long Sault, Ont. at approximately 5:45 p.m. A caller told police that a child had no vital signs and that off-duty medical professionals were conducting resuscitation efforts. Cornwall paramedics rushed the child to hospital under a police escort as efforts to revive the child continued, OPP said in a news release Sunday. The child was later pronounced dead, police say. Their identity is not being released. The St. Lawrence Parks Commission website says Mille Roches Beach remains closed until further notice. Woodlands Beach remains open. It's the latest in a string of deadly incidents on eastern Ontario waters this summer. On Thursday, a three-year-old child drowned at Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County. Last weekend, OPP reported two incidents on East Lake in Prince Edward County and one on the St. Lawrence River near Ganonoque. OPP reported earlier this week that it had already responded to double the number of drowning deaths it saw at this time last year in eastern Ontario. There have been two reported drownings in Ottawa so far this summer.

York police are searching for 32-year-old Ryan Vandenakker, of Newmarket, who is convicted of three counts of sexual assault involving separate victims. Police say they've located a man from Newmarket who had gone missing after being convicted of multiple sexual assaults. In a release on Sunday, investigators with York police say 32-year-old Ryan Vandenakker was convicted of three counts of sexual assault involving separate victims. The offences occurred between 2018 and 2021, according to police. They say Vandenakker was reported missing on July 24 after failing to appear at the Superior Court of Justice in Newmarket for his sentencing. Despite his absence, police say Vandenakker was sentenced to seven years in prison. Police had issued a warrant of committal, along with a warrant in the first for his arrest. They say Vandenakker was found on Sunday in Orangeville. He's now facing additional charges of fail to appear and fail to comply with a release order.
