Atlantic City Is Reclaiming Its Spotlight—And Everyone's Invited

From provocative new shows and a major tourism boom, the East Coast's comeback city is reclaiming its spotlight—and culture lovers should take note.
Is Atlantic City becoming the ultimate weekend escape for New Yorkers?
Google search trends suggest it's already happening. Search interest in travel is at a five-year high, with 'travel near me' searched three times more than 'travel abroad' in the past 30 days. For travelers craving quick access, big vibes, and culturally rich experiences, Atlantic City is rising to the top of the list.
It's more than a convenient getaway—it's a renaissance.
Once a crown jewel of East Coast entertainment, Atlantic City is returning to its roots with bold new energy, blending the past and future into something electric. Today's AC is no longer just about casinos and boardwalk fries—it's about performance, storytelling, and cultural revival. And no experience captures that better than The HOOK, a boundary-pushing, adults-only live show from Spiegelworld, the creative minds behind Las Vegas hits Absinthe and OPM.

Set inside the newly restored, 96-year-old Warner Theater, The HOOK is a sexy, jaw-dropping spectacle that unfolds—quite literally—right in front of your eyes. Hosted by Australian comedian Asher Treleaven as Dick Marlin and supported by a chorus line of exotic lobsters (yes, lobsters), it's a 75-minute riptide of acrobatics, irreverent comedy, and 'did-that-just-happen?' moments designed for those 18 and up.
'The HOOK is a wild homage to Atlantic City's Golden Age—it's sexy, chaotic, and fun,' said a Spiegelworld team member. 'We wanted to create something this city has never seen before—and it's working.'
But to understand the magic of today's AC, you have to acknowledge the cultural foundation it's built on.
For decades, Atlantic City was a stage for excellence in music and performance. From the 1930s through the 1960s, icons like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, and Duke Ellington lit up legendary venues like Club Harlem—a nightlife staple known as the 'Black Copacabana'—where Black entertainers could headline and thrive despite segregation elsewhere. These stages weren't just performance spaces—they were acts of resistance, joy, and visibility.

That legacy is what makes Atlantic City's current moment so meaningful. Today's shows, dining experiences, and nightlife offerings are channeling that same sense of spectacle and boundary-breaking artistry.
'You're literally backstage at the theater,' said one team member at Superfrico. 'There's even a door in the restaurant that opens right onto the stage. The whole venue is immersive—it's not dinner and a show. It's a world you step intosd.'
Cultural curiosity is clearly driving travel decisions. Search interest in Atlantic City spikes every July, and in the past 30 days alone, 'Atlantic City tickets' searches have surged, with top trending concerts including Fisher, Stevie Nicks, and Lil Wayne. That blend of mainstream and alternative energy mirrors the city itself—unexpected, diverse, and full of flavor.
And outside of The HOOK, the reinvention continues—under one roof.
Superfrico, a psychedelic Italian-American restaurant, turns dining into a multisensory performance, serving dishes like lobster francaise and tableside-melted mozzarella.
'We opened Superfrico in the summer of 2023 alongside The HOOK,' the team shared. 'This isn't just a restaurant—it's a vibe.
Superfrico Atlantic City, located inside Caesars, offers a theatrical dining experience with ... More psychedelic Italian-American cuisine—blending immersive design with elevated hospitality as part of the city's entertainment renaissance.
'Each room is curated to feel like a different part of a theater,' they explained. 'We're sitting in the dressing room, which has vintage mirrors from the 1940s Miss America pageants. In the prop room, we host private dinners. You never know what you'll see next—and that's the charm," The Hook team.
Horse Dive Bar, a cheeky cocktail den inspired by boardwalk nostalgia, mixes inventive drinks like the Red Lips (tequila, spicy Aperol, passion fruit) and Happy Jack (Tito's, coffee liqueur, caramel, peanut).
Horse Dive Bar at Caesars Atlantic City reimagines classic boardwalk cocktail culture with a bold, ... More modern twist—delivering inventive drinks and nostalgic ambiance as part of the city's evolving hospitality scene.
'We wanted the drinks to reflect the city's history—fun, a little gritty, but elevated.'
All of this—The HOOK, Superfrico, and Horse Dive Bar—is located inside the iconic Caesars Atlantic City, making it a one-stop destination for immersive entertainment, theatrical dining, and unforgettable nights.
'We're incredibly fortunate to have the support of Caesars,' they added. 'They've helped us get the word out, and more importantly, helped us build something that Atlantic City has never had before.'
Atlantic City's return isn't just about tourism—it's about reclaiming a story. One where culture leads, art provokes, and legacy is honored while new legends are born. Whether you're a music lover, a foodie, a nightlife explorer, or simply someone craving something real—Atlantic City is ready for you.
And this summer? It might just be the best-kept not-so-secret on the East Coast.

Lionsgate & Universal's Michael Jackson Biopic ‘Michael' Moves To Pre-Summer 2026

Lionsgate and Universal's Michael Jackson biopic Michael is officially moving to Friday, April 24, 2026, and that's a global theatrical release. At the same time, we hear that a second movie about Jackson remains in development. More from Deadline 'Good Fortune' Trailer: Aziz Ansari Comedy With Keanu Reeves & Seth Rogen Headed For TIFF Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden's 'Freaky Tales' Sets HBO Max Premiere Date Lionsgate Marketing Heads JP Richards And Keri Moore Exiting Company We told you at CinemaCon there were distribution plans afoot for this on the Antoine Fuqua directed, Graham King produced feature. Michael will also get a release on Imax screens. The delay with Michael has been twofold, one being length — there was a first cut in excess of three and a half hours. There have also been reports that the initial cut of the movie made references to 13-year old Jordan Chandler, who accused Jackson of molestation, and who the pop singer settled with for $20M in 1994 with no admission of guilt. The Jackson estate explicitly wanted nothing about Chandler in the film, which led to more shoots on the production. Three-time Oscar nominee John Logan penned the screenplay. Jackson's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, plays the King of Pop. Currently, there aren't any major studio wide entries on April 24 next year, hence a great choice for Lionsgate. Michael will open in the wake of New Line/Blumhouse's Lee Cronin's The Mummy and Amazon MGM Studios/Miramax's Liam Neeson starring, Frankie Shaw directed 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank on April 17. Michael will also precede the May 1 release of 20th Century Studios' The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Warner Bros/Legenary's Animal Friends. This is the third time that Michael has moved. The pic's first release date was April 18, 2025 then Oct. 3, 2025. Oscar winner King's previous music biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, won four Oscars and grossed over $910M at the worldwide box office. Kino Films is releasing the movie in Japan while Universal has the rest of the world. The Voice: Which Former Contestants Should Return for Season 29?

Fans of The Voice let out a collective chorus of 'Hmm' when the NBC sing-off revealed the changes being implemented for Season 29's Battle of Champions (which premieres in spring 2026). In particular, eyebrows were raised over the Knockouts round twist in which coaches Adam Levine, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson bring back two former contestants apiece to duke it out in what the show has dubbed an In-Season All-Star Competition to be judged by former coach CeeLo Green. On one hand, it seems unfair to the new contestants who will have made it to the Knockouts. They ran a gauntlet to get that far, only to then have to contend with past favorites. On the other hand, it's an intriguing proposition. Who among us doesn't have singers from past seasons that we'd love to see come back and win the whole shebang? I might not tune in for one coach over another, but you bet I'd make The Voice appointment TV to hear Team Legend's Katie Kadan again! More from TVLine Chicago P.D. Check 'em out, then hit the comments with the past contestants that you most want to come back and try, try again. Amanda Brown (Team Adam Levine) The Season 3 standout's Playoffs cover of Aerosmith unequivocally told all future contestants that if they thought they could do better, ahem, dream on. (Listen to her rendition above.) (Team Kelly Clarkson) The quality of his voice was right there in this charismatic Season 23 contestant's name. Maybe the second time will be the charm for him? (Listen to 'Perfect' take on Ed Sheeran above.) Sarah Grace (Team Kelly Clarkson) Just a kid during Season 15, when she was axed in the Semifinals, Grace had the chops even then to go all the way; she just… well, didn't. (Marvel at her 'Amazing Grace'/'House of the Rising Sun' mash-up above.) Katie Kadan (Team John Legend) Though the Season 17 belter had a memorable look, enviable wit and an unforgettably resonant voice, she only scored a third-place finish. (Buckle up for her cover of Janis Joplin's 'Piece of My Heart' above.) Jershika Maple (Team John Legend) The term 'powerhouse' was all but coined to describe the Season 21 contestant whose soulful vocals should've landed her higher than fifth place. (Lend an ear as she slays Natalie Cole's 'Inseparable' above.) James Wolpert (Team Adam Levine) The alt-rocker left us intoxicated with his Playoffs cover of Joni Mitchell's classic 'A Case of You' but still got eliminated in Season 5's Semifinals. Klay Thompson Reveals How Being ‘in Love' with Megan Thee Stallion Has Upped His Golf Game

Klay Thompson has become better in more ways than one since making things official with Megan Thee Stallion. The Dallas Mavericks shooting guard, 35, recently planned a date at a nine-hole golf course with Megan, 30, that was chronicled on her Instagram and TikTok pages on Wednesday, July 23. The video begins with the rapper explaining that he let her choose her outfit. The basketball player went to Academy Sports + Outdoors to purchase a couple of options, which included a pink athletic skirt and a lavender collared t-shirt, as well as a black athletic skirt with a white t-shirt. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! Megan ultimately chose the white shirt, paired with the pink skirt, while Thompson opted for black shorts, a baby blue collared t-shirt and a black hat that read "Protect your energy." After explaining that she had a meeting to attend before her date with Thompson, the video cut to a clip of the two riding in a golf cart driven by the NBA star. Thompson was then seen sitting on a bench while Megan pointed out fish in a lake. She then cuts to a closer look at her outfit as she tells Thompson, "You picked it? You think it's cute?" "Uh-huh. You even got the cute shoes on [and] the shirt. I did well," he says. "I'm really proud of myself." The two ultimately then start golfing, as Thompson jokes that he is Tiger Woods. After he hits a ball, the two go look for it to continue playing, and Thompson calls Megan his "good luck charm." Megan eventually attempts to hit a gold ball herself with Thompson guiding her every step of the way. The video ends with the two sharing a kiss, and Thompson declares that "ever since I've been in love, my golf game's reaped all the benefits." The couple first sparked romance rumors when Megan posted an Instagram photo with Thompson in the background in early July. On July 16, they made their red-carpet debut at the Inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City.
