🎥 Bayern and Flamengo play out drama-filled first half at CWC
Bayern Munich and Flamengo have had a 45 minute thriller so far, with the German giants holding a 3-1 lead at the break.
The Bundesliga giants took just six minutes to open the scoring, as Erick Pulgar turned the ball into his own net from close range.

Bayern's second required a touch more class when Harry Kane received the ball from 20 yards out and cannoned an unstoppable strike in off the post.
However, Flamengo pulled a goal back when Gerson lashed into the net with a powerful strike before Bayern restored their two-goal advantage through Leon Goretzka.
Bayern will set up a clash of the titans against PSG if they hold onto their lead against Flamengo.

Liverpool's Trey Nyoni signs new long-term contract with the club
Trey Nyoni has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool. The central midfielder turned 18 today, and the new deal rewards the impression and impact he has made since his arrival from Leicester City in September 2023. He signed his first professional contract in October 2024, having been training regularly with the senior squad. A special birthday for Trey! 🌟🎈 — Liverpool FC (@LFC) June 30, 2025 Upon signing the new deal, the teenager said: 'It means a lot, obviously supporting the club from young as well, so it's a great feeling. Now I have to go out and show why I've earned this contract. 'It's just step-by-step, day-by-day, just becoming better every day, improving as a player. I'm still young. You know, there's a lot of improvement. That's the most important thing.' After impressive performances in several different age groups in Liverpool's youth academy, Nyoni made his debut in the same campaign as a late substitute in the FA Cup fourth round victory over Southampton in February 2024, becoming the fourth youngest debutant in the club's history. He has also impressed head coach Arne Slot, as he was involved in pre-season and made five senior appearances last season — including in the Champions League against PSV, becoming the club's youngest-ever player in a European competition (17 years and 213 days). Advertisement Nyoni has also represent England at every youth level from undder-16 to under-20. A new contract for Nyoni is great news for him and Liverpool and underlines the faith the club have in his potential. The 18-year-old has been turning heads since he arrived at the academy and has been fast-tracked through the age groups because of his talent. The gifted midfielder has technical quality in abundance. He is calm in possession and is versatile, capable of playing in multiple midfield roles. The hope is he is the next gem to emerge from the academy that has seen a number of players come through and play first team minutes. It remains to be seen what Liverpool decide is best for his development this season, but the ambitious midfielder will no doubt be hoping to make another strong impression in pre-season and form part of Slot's first team plans.

St. Pauli conclude record sale of Philipp Treu to Freiburg
Sport Bild reports that transfer negotiations between two Bundesliga outfits swapping well over a month have finally wrapped. St. Pauli fullback Philipp Treu is now set to return to his former club SC Freiburg on a €5m deal. Treu – a Heidelberg native – came up through the Freiburg ranks and once featured for the SCF reserves in the 3. Liga. St. Pauli and Freiburg have both had an active summer transfer window. Interestingly enough, Treu will constitute the third transaction involving the two clubs. Hamburg's Kiezkicker opted to ship back Freiburg loanees Robert Wagner and Noah Weißhaupt earlier this month. Advertisement Treu's base-transfer-fee counts as a new record for St. Pauli. The sale, which could far exceed €5m via bonus payments, is the highest sum the Hamburg-based club have ever received for a player. Kicker – among others – reports that St. Pauli will utilize the proceeds to immediately finalize the purchase of recent FC Kaiserslautern standout Daisuke Yokota. The Japanese midfielder will serve as the Hanseatic club's eighth summer signing. Freiburg themselves have brought in four new summer additions, impressively concluding most of their targeted signings shortly after the Bundesliga campaign concluded in mid-May. The SCF front office then turned their attention to contract extensions. Exciting young Swiss prospect Johan Manzambi inked a new deal early last week. Shortly after that, it was time to reward club legend Vincenzo Grifo. Kicker reports that French talent Jordy Makengo will also extend this week. Advertisement 'There's no end in sight for Vince,' Freiburg sporting director Klemens Hartenbach said of Grifo on the occasion of the Pforzheim native's contract extension. 'He leads the way both on and off the pitch. It's not just his statistics that are important for the team. He also exudes confidence and composure, which is infectious and helps his teammates immensely. We want this to continue in the coming years.' 'When I came here in 2015, none of this was foreseeable,' one of Germany's most popular players himself added. 'Now it's my home. My heart lies in Freiburg. I've played 307 competitive games for SC. I'm doing very, very well here, both in terms of sport and privately. I want to continue on this path, play as many games as possible, help the young players, and also develop further personally.' Stefanos Tsitsipas retires injured in Wimbledon first round
Stefanos Tsitsipas retired with a back injury to exit Wimbledon in the first round, abandoning his match against French qualifier Valentin Royer. The 113th-ranked Royer was two sets up against Tsitsipas, a former grand slam finalist at the Australian and French Open, when he decided to abandon. Advertisement The Greek took a medical timeout at 4-1 down in the first set, having lost the first 6-3, and received treatment for his back on-court. He was reportedly heard saying 'It's impossible to play tennis like this' as he managed the pain. The 24th seed continued to play after the timeout but after losing the second set 6-2 opted to retire. The Greek player has recently acquired the help of highly-experienced coach Goran Ivanisevic, who won Wimbledon in 2001. The Croatian enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Novak Djokovic over nine Grand Slam titles between 2019 and 2024, as well as helping Marin Cilic to his only major victory at the 2014 US Open. Advertisement Tsitsipas had said that Ivanisevic could 'definitely give me a clear direction of where I'm lacking and where I should be focusing on when it comes to my strengths,' but a premature end to his time at Wimbledon leaves an uncertain future between the pair. The 26-year-old regrouped to feature in two exhibition matches at the Hurlingham Club last week, beating Frances Tiafoe 7-6(9), 6-7(4), 10-7 before defeat to Tomas Martin Etcheverry 4-6, 6-2, 5-10. But the back injury flared up against Royer and has scuppered hopes of bouncing back after falling down the rankings to sit 26th entering SW19. The former world No 2 had looked uncomfortable in fiercely hot conditions out on Court 14 and suffers from asthma, while also enduring breathing difficulties at this year's Australian Open. Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas looks dejected after losing his first round match by walkover (REUTERS) She is unlikely to be the only player struggling in the heat, with temperatures expected to reach 34C at Wimbledon, forcing the All England Club to institute its warm-weather policy. This comes into effect when temperatures exceed 30.1C and means an extra 10-minute break between sets two and three in women's singles and three and four in men's singles. Several seeds have already fallen: ninth seed Daniil Medvedev is the highest-ranked casualty, falling in four sets to Benjamin Bonzi, while Latvin 20th seed Jelena Ostapenko lost a three-set tussle with British No 3 Sonay Kartal.
