'One simple beauty swap has transformed my make-up and it's so affordable'
I have probably had the same makeup routine for a decade - so trying new things has always been a scary thought. But as I get older, and my face changes, I have been a little more open to new products and when I find something that earns a permament spot in my makeup bag, I won't stop raving about it.
I admit, I do stick to what I know, especially when it comes to mascara. I have always opted for classic black and finding a good one is no mean feat. However since discovering a new brown mascara, it's totally transformed my whole makeup look.
I think brown mascara has always been a no-go zone for me, as my lashes are already very dark, so it seemed like the obvious choice to stick to black. But when I came across the Sculpted By Aimee LashLift brown mascara my opinion changed.
As soon as I applied it, it completely softened my features, I have very, very dark thick eyebrows, so I noticed how much of a difference the brown made. Don't get me wrong, it toned down my makeup, but I think for a day-to-day look it's better as it's a lot more natural.
I used to want really dark, thick lashes, heavy eyeshadow and eyeliner - I admit, looking back it perhaps wasn't my best look, but we all have those eras of makeup we choose to just pretend didn't happen. So as I've got older, I've swayed more for a natural look and I am really enjoying more of a natural look.
My eyebrows have even followed suit. As much I loved 2016 eye makeup with heavy eyeshadow, thick eyebrows and false eyelashes. I have really toned down my eyes, including hardly filling in my eyebrows - and I feel like the brown mascara is the newest change I have made in a mission to strip back my daily makeup look.
I am also very fussy when it comes to mascara as can be prone to having black undereyes after a few hours, so for me it's important a good mascara won't budge - and I didn't notice this happening with the Sculpted by Aimee LashLift one. It lifted my lashes after a few coats thanks to the wand's multi-level bristle technology, designed to apply the product from the root to the tip of your lashes, with the nourishing, weightless formula to separate and coat each lash.
Formulated with lightweight polymers, and minimal waxes, the bristles glide effortlessly through lashes, preventing any clumping, and delivering a lifting effect. And it's not just me that has been raving about it, with shoppers rating it an impressive 4.4 out of 5 as one person said: "Love this product, the colour is amazing, I'm never a brown mascara girl but you have converted me!! It's fab and what it does, is in the name!"
While another said: "It's really beautiful one that gives lash lift, deep black eyelashes and holds well for the whole day but it goes flaky on me and that's a big downside."
A similar mascara is the Lancôme Lash Idôle Mascara Brown currently on offer for (£22.40) Providing up to 24 hours of visible lift, volume and length, the formula offers one-swipe saturation while fanning out every last lash - while creating a soft look on the eyes.
Alternatively, a cheaper option is the Revolution Wrap Lash Tubing Mascara (£10.99) that contains the revolutionary tubing technology. It is made with a nourishing formula of Shea Butter, Carnauba Wax And Castor Oil to care while you wear.

Love Island's Emily Moran shares the affordable SPF skin tint behind the girls' villa glam
Love Island's Emily Moran has just let us in on the affordable skin tint all the girls have been using in the villa to achieve their natural, glowy complexions If you've been wondering how the Love Island girls are managing to look so effortlessly glowy and flawless under the blazing Spanish sun, former Islander Emily Moran has just dropped the secret. During a 'natural villa glam' make-up tutorial to her TikTok followers, Emily revealed that there's a certain complexion product all the girls have labelled as their number one in the villa. The product they're on about is the NYX Professional Makeup Buttermelt Glaze Soft Glow Skin Tint. Claiming that Helena and Megan were the ones who suggested this to Emily, who opts for a slightly darker shade to get that bronzey glow and to colour match the rest of her body. Not only does this skin tint deliver that natural-looking, dewy finish that we're all obsessed with at the moment, but it also has SPF 30, making it ideal for sunny weather and holidays. Of course, we still strongly suggest wearing an SPF (ideally factor 50) underneath, as you're unlikely to get the amount of sun protection you need with the amount of product you'll be using. However, it's great to have that added layer of protection throughout the day. If you're after more skin tints that will actually stay in place during the summer months, our beauty team has reviewed a lot over the years, and rounded up nine of the very best. Mirror's beauty editor, Laura, is a big fan of Milk's Hydro Gel Grip Tint. She says, "This skin tint blends on so well, and makes skin look gorgeous from the first swipe: smooth, glowy, and perfected, but in a very natural way. What impressed me most, though, is just how well this finish lasted throughout the day. Whereas, I'm a huge fan of the Kosas BB Burst Tinted Gel Cream. As soon as I tried this, I knew it was going to become my new staple. Featuring copper peptides and squalane, this hydrating formula provides a glowy, natural-looking base that feels just like skincare.

Autumn clothing sales have started– Mirror's shopping team finds on-sale buys from coats to boots
From statement boots to trending coats, next season's key trends are already seeing discounts, and the Mirror's shopping team has found the best deals worth adding to your basket Autumn is not here just yet, but the sales are, and it's the perfect opportunity to get some discounted buys before the new season rolls around. From classic trench coats and cosy knits to boots you'll wear on repeat, retailers are dropping major discounts on pieces that will see you through the colder months in style. And the Mirror 's shopping team has done all the hard work for you, scouring the sales to find the chicest buys worth spending your hard-earned money on before they're gone. Whether you're after timeless staples or a standout statement piece, these autumn deals are the perfect blend of style and savings. Head of shopping picks: Levi's Spade Trench Coat Was £150, now £75 Trench coats are always worth the investment thanks to their practicality and timeless look. They're the kind of jacket that will never go out of style and will see you through from autumn to spring. Our head of shopping, Zoe, has found such a great offer on Levi's flattering trench. Zoe says: "As soon as the weather starts to feel a little colder, I start reaching for a trusty and lightweight trench coat, and I basically don't stop wearing it until the frost sets in. My last-season trench is a Karen Millen buy, which I've had for years, in anticipation of the new season, I've picked up Levi's Spade Trench Coat while it's on sale. Previously £150, you can grab it for £75 if you're quick – which is an incredible deal on a top quality jacket like this." Beauty editor picks: Boden Imi Scallop Trim Jumper Was £76, now from £38 Knitwear is an autumn essential, and Mirror's beauty editor, Laura, has spotted a cosy cotton and wool blend jumper in the Boden sale, with more than 50% off on certain colours. Laura says: "Living in an old, cold terrace house in the north of England, it's never wise for me to pack my jumpers away, even in the midst of summer – plus I love how knitwear looks paired with shorts. A scallop-neck jumper I previously owned recently got ruined in the wash, so I'll be replacing it with one of these cute Boden knits now that some of the colours are better than half price. I'm tempted by the strawberry red and the light brown." Senior shopping writer picksCinched Waist Workwear Jacket Was £110, now £55 Barn and work jackets were a massive trend last autumn, and they're back for another season. Our senior shopping writer, Faith, has found an elevated take on the barn jacket from Abercrombie. Faith says: "Utility jackets were a major trend this spring, and they'll be making an official comeback for autumn. They're my go-to silhouette for dressing down something more formal, like a satin midi dress, or for adding some edge to a mini skirt, plus they pair perfectly with a simple pair of jeans and a T-shirt – a total wardrobe workhorse. This Cinched Waist Workwear Jacket from Abercrombie & Fitch is the perfect balance of practical and stylish, and its faux leather collar adds a little luxe-look to the utilitarian design. It's also available in three colours and a diverse range of sizes – plus it's got 50% off. Winner winner!" Shopping writer picks: TOG24Alva Women's Waterproof Jacket Was £170, now £119 With the UK's unpredictable weather, a waterproof jacket is a non-negotiable, and our shopping writer, Meghan, has spotted a TOG24 one that combines style with practicality for £50 off. Meghan says: "My TOG24 jacket saw me through last autumn and winter and has remained a firm favourite for rainy weather even in spring and summer, but this autumn, I'm stepping up my waterproof wear with this stylish Alva Women's Waterproof Jacket, which is currently up for grabs from TOG24 for over £50 off. Boasting an endlessly chic maxi design and coming in an on-trend khaki colour, this parka jacket is breathable while promising to keep you protected from the wind and rain." Shopping writer picks: ASOS Cleona premium leather kitten heel knee boots Long gone are the days of uncomfy, stiletto-high autumn boots. Instead, we're seeing comfier, lower heel heights that don't compromise on style. Our shopping writer, Grace, has had this chocolate ASOS pair in her basket all year. Grace says: "I had my eye on this gorgeous suede pair of boots last winter, but didn't want to part with almost £150. However, now that they're less than £100, they're much more tempting, especially with payday finally here. Suede is still going to be a huge trend next season, and this pair is so versatile, not to mention the perfect height. I could style them with everything from midi skirts to mini dresses, and still manage to walk around in them all day thanks to the kitten heel."
