The move comes ahead of Bakri Eid, with police anticipating potential threats to public order due to the gang's repeated involvement in illegal cattle-related activities.
The seven accused have been identified as Tanveer Qureshi (34), from Gaddigodam; Md Irshad alias Badshah Qureshi (44), residing near Gaddigodam Masjid; Saheb alias Shobi Noor Qureshi (35), a resident of Gaddigodam; Md Imran Zahir Qureshi (27) from Gaddigodam; Raheel Qureshi (36) and Asib Qureshi (36), residing opposite YMCA Gym, Gaddigodam, have been linked to multiple cases involving slaughter and transport of banned cattle breeds.
Police said the gang has operated brazenly within the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station, showing no regard for the law while instilling fear in the local population. Despite previous legal action, including a six-month externment, they resumed their operations.
Officers noted that the gang's activities have endangered the safety of citizens and also led to rising tensions in the area. Several accused have cases pending at Thane and Hingna police stations.

Telangana teacher suspended for bringing ‘cow brain' to class to teach students about anatomy

Her teaching method, read the suspension order, caused 'immense discomfort among the students and hurt the sentiments of students and parents'. The bio-science teacher in question, identified as Khasimbee, was suspended in an order dated 25 June, signed by the district education officer of Vikarabad district. Hyderabad: A government school teacher from Telangana's Vikarabad district has been suspended for bringing what authorities suspect was a cow's brain to teach students about the animal's anatomy for a biology class. The incident, which took place at the Zilla Parishad Girls High School in Yalal Mandal, led to protests from Right-wing groups. According to Vikarabad District Superintendent Narayana Reddy, a case has been registered, and the brain sample has also been sent to the Telangana Forensics Science Laboratory to determine if it belongs to a cow. 'We have registered a case. She brought it as part of her class (to teach), we were told,' he told ThePrint. Adding, 'Since it was raw meat, a few students could not bear the smell and vomited.' Since cow slaughter is banned in Telangana, this amounted to an offence under the law, he said. 'We need to check if it was of a cow. She could have brought the brain of any other animal instead.' Under Telangana Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act, 1977, 'bull, bullock, buffalo, male or female, or calf, whether male or female of a she-buffalo' are protected. The definition of a cow 'includes a heifer, or a calf, whether male or female, of a cow'. The incident prompted protests, held near the school, by Right-wing groups. Protesters were pacified by police. Reddy told ThePrint that nobody was injured in the protests. This comes days after cow vigilantes reportedly thrashed cattle traders in the days leading up to Bakri Eid (7 June). Within 24 hours of the festival, two major incidents of violence were reported, including a vehicle carrying cattle waste getting torched in the Jalpally area of Hyderabad. On 17 June, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also formed a three-member committee to formulate a 'comprehensive' policy for cow protection in the state. According to a statement from his office, the three-member panel will look to set up cow shelters with state-of-the-art facilities at four locations in the first phase. Members of the committee include special chief secretary of the animal husbandry department Sabyasachi Ghosh, principal secretary to endowments department Shailaja Ramaiyar, and secretary of the state agriculture department Raghunandan Rao. Assam: More than 150 arrested for Dhubri communal violence, says CM

More than 150 persons have been arrested in connection with the communal tensions that broke out in Assam's Dhubri town on June 8, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday. The tensions had erupted after the remains of an animal were discovered near a Hindu temple. 'Our zero tolerance approach, along with apprehending 150 anti-social elements, is working but we are not lowering our guard against communal forces,' Sarma said in a social media post. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader added that his government was mulling setting up a permanent base of the Indian Army 'to strengthen the security apparatus in this sensitive district'. On June 14, Sarma said 38 persons had been arrested for the violence, besides 22 others who were held previously. A day before, he had issued shoot-at-sight orders in the area for nighttime. The chief minister visited the area for the second time within 10 days on Tuesday, PTI reported. Widespread protests broke out in Dhubri on June 8 morning, with a large number of residents blocking a road adjacent to the temple. They shouted slogans and burnt tyres as part of their demonstration. They also prevented the police from removing the remains of the animal, insisting that it must remain untouched until 'those responsible are identified and arrested'. During his last visit to Dhubri, Sarma had claimed that the animal remains found near the temple were part of the head of a cow. 'The day after Bakri Eid [on June 8], some persons kept a severed cow head in front of a Hanuman temple,' claimed Sarma. 'Representatives of both the communities met thereafter, a peace committee meeting was held and the conflict seemed to have been resolved.' The chief minister claimed that the next day, another severed animal head was found in front of the temple premises, which sparked violence. He also claimed that a day before Bakri Eid, a poster showing Dhubri to be part of Bangladesh was found in the town. Sarma alleged that a group was attempting to spread tensions in the area.

Five arrested in Assam's Goalpara for allegedly throwing beef near temple, says CM

The Assam Police have arrested five persons for allegedly throwing beef near a temple in Goalpara in a 'deliberate attempt to incite communal tension', Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday. In a post on X, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader said that Bodir Ali, Hazarat Ali, Tara Mia, Shajamal Mia and Jahangir Alom, all residents of Lakhipur, were arrested for attempting to incite tensions after the Muslim festival of Eid-ul-Zuha. 'A case has been registered and strict action is being taken to ensure all such elements face the full force of the law,' Sarma said. This comes after at least 60 persons were arrested over the course of a week in connection with communal tensions that broke out in Dhubri on June 8. The tensions had erupted after the remains of an animal were discovered near a temple. On June 13, the state government issued nighttime shoot-at-sight orders in Dhubri to bring the situation under control. Sarma had claimed that the animal remains found near the temple on June 8 were part of the head of a cow. The chief minister claimed that the next day, another severed animal head was found in front of the temple premises, which sparked violence. Widespread protests had broken out in Dhubri on June 8 morning, with a large number of residents blocking a road adjacent to the temple. They shouted slogans and burnt tyres as part of their demonstration. Deputy Commissioner Dibakar Nath issued orders prohibiting five or more persons from gathering in Dhubri town. The administration had also banned rallies, processions, meetings and demonstrations. The situation was brought under control by June 10 and the prohibitory orders were withdrawn. On Friday, the chief minister had also claimed that a day before Bakri Eid, which was celebrated on June 7, a poster showing Dhubri to be part of Bangladesh was found in the town. Sarma alleged that a group was attempting to spread tensions in the area.
