Hamza Igamane a Rangers 'risk' as surging Lille talks see transfer rivals pull out amid De Jong intel leak

Russell Martin has a big decision to make on the striker before the crucial Champions League clash with Panathinaikos
Rangers have been told they are RIGHT not to risk Hamza Igamane for the Champions League qualifier with Panathinaikos next Tuesday.

It comes with the club standing firm on their £15million valuation of the striker amid ongoing talks with Lille - with reports suggesting one suitor has now dropped out of the race to land the 22-year-old.

Igamane impressed in his debut Ibrox campaign - netting 16 goals for the Light Blues after a £1.7m move from AS FAR last summer.

That has sparked discussions with the Ligue 1 side over a potential move - and Rangers new owners 49ers Enterprises are determined to land a bumper profit in the 22-year-old with the Glasgow giants holding out for a £15m payday.
And while Igamane has already agreed personal terms over a move no formal bid has been tabled - with Lille president Olivier Letang previously admitting the club were in no hurry to get a deal done.
But Foot Mercato now report that the club are re-launching their bid to land the striker and want him to be their "next" recruit.

With the Light Blues to command a bumper fee, former Ibrox striker Gordon Dalziel insists that it would be a gamble for Russell Martin to play the Morocco international.
However, he reckons Cyriel Dessers should be recalled despite interest from AEK. He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: 'If I was in the situation, for example Igamane, and they are talking figures around the £14-15m for him - I totally understand Rangers wouldn't risk him.
"But, I would certainly risk Dessers, because Dessers isn't going to get you anywhere near that.'

But the valuation from Rangers has reportedly seen Marseille rule out a move, with Le 10 Sport that Lille's Ligue 1 rivals are unwilling to go beyond €10million (£8.6million).
In terms of a replacement for Dessers and Igamane, Luuk de Jong is reportedly on Rangers' radar - as he looks to have pulled the curtain down on his time at PSV Eindhoven.
The 34-year-old had been training with the Eredivise champions to maintain his fitness as he weights up his options.

But the club have now handed his No. 9 jersey to Ricardo Pepi and signed Borussia Monchengladbach forward Alassane Plea as a successor.
Former Dutch defender Bram van Polen claims that he has heard whispers that De Jong's time is officially over at the Eredivise champions as he looks for an "adventure" away from the Netherlands.
He told ESPN's Voetbalpraat: "They've moved on now. I would understand a foreign adventure from his (De Jong's) perspective.
"And perhaps he's become worried about his minutes. Last year, you could already see things declining with Pepi. And now, with another title, he's saying goodbye on a high note."

Robin Propper's exact Twente contract details revealed as Rangers exit fast tracked with final hurdle cleared

The defender is finally set to end a long-running saga and seal a £1.5m move back to the Netherlands Out of favour Robin Propper looks set to finally complete his move back to FC Twente with a bumper four-year deal on the table. ‌ The defender was left out of Rangers ' Champions League win against Panathinaikos during the week and is expected to complete a medical at Enschede, ahead of a £1.5million transfer. ‌ His move from Ibrox after just a year was held up due to a reported stalemate between the player and Rangers about the remaining time of his contract, because he would be on a less lucrative deal in the Netherlands. But the Eredivisie club now appear to have resolved the issue by offering the 31-year-old a longer deal and he will end his unsuccessful spell at Ibrox. Propper played 115 matches for Twente between 2021 and 2024 and was the club's captain. However, he failed to nail down a regular spot at Rangers, despite scoring in an Old Firm win against Celtic in January and he only started 22 league games. And he will finally seal a departure as Russell Martin continues his rebuilding process at Rangers. Inside Virgil van Dijk's role in Florian Wirtz's £116m Liverpool transfer - as Reds captain claims the club is the 'place to be' in European football

Virgil van Dijk believes that Liverpool is the place to be in European football at the moment and this simple pitch was what he sold to club-record buy Florian Wirtz. The Reds have spent £295million so far this summer in a statement transfer window with Hugo Ekitike the latest addition. After jetting into Hong Kong on Thursday, the France striker trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Friday. Wirtz has also been settling in nicely after his £116m move from Bayer Leverkusen and Van Dijk said: 'When I joined the club I said it, I don't think there 's a better place to be than Liverpool. 'I really feel that way. We had a fantastic season and I feel like this can only become better. 'When Florian spoke to the club and certain players, I spoke to him as well a little bit, I'm sure he got a feel for it. And then he made a decision. 'Coming here, he can really make an impact in my opinion. But it's also down to him in terms of showing it every single day. He's getting there and it's good to see. 'I said to him, 'Liverpool is the place to be'.' Van Dijk sat down with new boy Ekitike on Thursday evening at Liverpool's plush team hotel on the Kowloon waterfront and the captain told him that the hard work starts now – and standards must be high from day one. 'The message is 'the hard work starts now'. That's it. You're playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world now. The pressure will be on you. You need to show your qualities. 'Listen, there are no guarantees in terms of retaining the title or winning more trophies. 'But improving the squad is always a good thing. Adding quality helps to raise the standard in both training and games hopefully. We've all seen it over the years, the team which is the most consistent during the season wins titles, and that's the aim we have. 'We want to show our quality in every single aspect of the game. That's a very tough job. If it was easy then you'd have a lot of teams up there until the end.' On a personal note, this summer has been time to reset the mind and body after a gruelling 12 months for Van Dijk. Last year, he did not go on the pre-season tour due to his involvement in the European Championship with Holland, and barely had any time off. Asked if the extended pre-season will help him, he said: 'To be absolutely honest, I think what's more important is the break I got. 'I had something like four and a half weeks which is the longest I've had since...... I can't even remember. 'To have this big pre-season now means we can work on so many aspects of our play which we can improve. Defending, attacking, set-pieces, build up. That's the main thing we've trying to do.' Liverpool play AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, 20 years on from their famous meeting in the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul. Arne Slot's men then jet to Tokyo for the second leg of the tour, where they will play Yokohama F Marinos on Wednesday.
