ITBP edge out 10-men Karbi Anglong Morning Star
Lunminlen Haokip gave the lead to Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC but goals from Pulung Diamary and Hemraj Bhujel gave the para military side victory and three points.
Both debutant teams were trying to take control of the midfield which made an intriguing battle with both sides cancelling each other out in the centre of the field.
KAMSFC, who play in I-League 3, were reduced to 10 men in just the 23rd minute when Ghanaian centre back Ben Nash Quansh received a direct red card for a reckless two footed challenge.
ITBP took control of possession using the man advantage but it was the side from Assam who drew first blood.
Lunminlen Haokip neatly finished a counter attacking move to give his side the lead in the 30th minute. The striker could have doubled the lead minutes later when he pounced on a mistake by the ITBP goalkeeper Ugesh Lama. The goalkeeper could not gather a cross cleanly and Lunminlen who was lurking around pounced but could not put the finishing touches.
ITBP equalised in the final minute of first half regulation time through Pulung Daimary, whose neat side footed finish found the bottom right corner after taking a deflection of a defender.
ITBP scored the second goal in the 60th minute with a neat team move. Srikumar Karjee received a long diagonal pass in the right wing and he fended off two defenders and drilled a low cross into the box which was expertly finished by Hemraj Bhujel. PTI AH KHS

Kolkata: Days after being part of joint initiative seeking a meeting with All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaubey regarding the uncertainty of the Indian Super League (ISL) season, Odisha FC suspended contracts of players and staff with effect from Tuesday. (Adimazes) The 2023-24 Super Cup runners-up, who have skipped the ongoing Durand Cup, are the first ISL team to invoke the force majeure clause because the future of India's top tier football competition is unknown. The letter sent to players and staff on Friday says that the start of 2025-26 ISL season has been 'indefinitely suspended' because AIFF's commercial partners are not keen till an agreement replacing the one that ends this December is signed. Following a Supreme Court observation in April that no major decision be taken at AIFF till its verdict on the federation's constitution is given, discussions on the master rights agreement have been put on hold. 'The unfortunate development has placed Odisha FC in an extremely challenging position, arising from circumstances that are entirely beyond the Club's control… After careful and thorough consideration, and in alignment with the evolving situation, the Club has arrived at a difficult decision' to place contracts 'under suspension with effect from 5th August, 2025.' The letter signed by Ajit Panda of Delhi Soccer Private Limited, Odisha FC's parent company, says players and staff are free to pursue 'other professional opportunities that may be available to you.' The club is also willing to discuss mutual termination, the letter said. A post on Instagram from club owner Rohan Sharma said the club has not shut down. 'Key staff members are retained, and our women's team will be operational,' Sharma wrote on Instagram. 'However, it becomes harder to justify to my stakeholders to sink Crs upon Crs (crore upon crore) with nothing to show for it, and no end in sight.' On X, Sharma said the club hopes the issues will be resolved, 'maybe doing this will prompt people to fast-track solution' so that the club can resume normal service. Recently, Sharma also said the club did not know if they could host matches at Bhubaneswar's Kalinga Stadium because they have not heard from the state sports association. 'We are done with this government in Odisha. Poorly run compared to the previous admin,' he said on X. Odisha FC remain part of the group of eight ISL clubs who have written to AIFF seeking a meeting with Chaubey where they can, hopefully, contribute to trying to end this impasse. The clubs expect a meeting to come through next week, according to an official of one of the clubs. Not authorised to speak to the media, the official requested anonymity. Odisha FC finished seventh in ISL last term narrowly missing out on a play-off berth. Their women's team went from being IWL champions in 2023-24 to being relegated. Current India women's coach Crispin Chhetri, on whose watch India qualified for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup, is also the Odisha women's team coach.

Maharaja T20 Looking For Match Venues As Chinnaswamy Yet To Receive Clearance: Report

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru hasn't received clearance to host the Maharaja T20 tournament, with the Karnataka State Cricket Association now searching for venues to play the tournament at, as Chinnaswamy has been mired in controversy for almost two months now, according to a report in ESPNCricinfo. The Maharaja T20 is all set to take place from August 11 to 27 and the KSCA needs to find venues with 10 days in hand. The police have withheld clearance because of the ongoing investigation into the June 4 stampede that occurred near the stadium during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL winning celebrations. An independent CID investigation into the incident, which left 11 dead and over 50 injured, is still underway. The KSCA is now exploring alternative venues, including its facility in Alur on the outskirts of Bengaluru, as well as the Wadeyar Ground in Mysuru. Although Alur boasts excellent drainage and infrastructure, the lack of floodlights poses a significant challenge for broadcasters. According to the report, Alur is all set to host the group games of the six-day women's T20 competition, the Maharani T20, from August 4. The Karnataka State Cricket Association had been considering hosting the women's final at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, but that now appears uncertain as police approval is still pending. As the Karnataka State Cricket Association contends with the prospect of a last-minute venue change, teams have expressed frustration over the financial losses they now stand to incur. Teams had already booked hotels for players and staff based on the assumption that the entire Maharaja T20 would take place in central Bengaluru.
