AUSTIN, Texas - A man is now facing a murder charge after a shooting last week at a Northwest Austin apartment complex.
What we know
27-year-old Waleed Beriji is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of 26-year-old Noah Talbott.
On Thursday May 29, just after midnight, Austin police officers responded to a shoot/stab hotshot call at the Westdale Point Apartments at 7117 Wood Hollow Drive, just off Far W Boulevard and North Mopac.
Someone called 911 and reported someone had been shot. When officers arrived, they found Talbott with a gunshot wound to the head. Talbott was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died over 24 hours later.
The suspect, later identified as Beriji, had left the scene before officers arrived.
The investigation that followed showed that the two men had been involved in a fight regarding money. Talbott escorted Beriji to the door, and Beriji allegedly pulled out a handgun from his bag and shot Talbott in the head before fleeing the scene.
APD arrested Beriji in the 3000 block of South Congress, over 12 miles away from the scene, and booked him into the Travis County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
After Talbott was pronounced dead, Beriji was charged with murder.
What's next
Beriji is still in the Travis County Jail on $300,000 bond with the conditions that he have a GPS monitor, no contact with the complaining witness and a drug evaluation.
Beriji also had an existing warrant from the Travis County Sheriff's Office for assaulting a family member by impeding their breath or circulation from last year, according to court records.

A prolific fitness influencer known for his bizarre, animalistic diet is back online after being arrested for allegedly making terroristic threats toward UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan. Johnson immediately returned to social media Wednesday night to post a series of rambling videos discussing his arrest and seemingly poking at Rogan without addressing him directly. In one video, Johnson addressed the incident leading to his arrest, telling viewers "some guy, he thought if you just put them in jail [and] have the violent crimes division come arrest them for a terroristic threat." Johnson went on to reveal in a separate video that he was "given the gift" of a restraining order following his alleged threat against Rogan. "If anybody knows of someone else whose first name rhymes with 'blow' whose last name is Rogan," Johnson said, seemingly appearing to dodge mentioning Rogan by name. The fitness influencer also told the camera that his charges had been reduced, before adding, "But I don't want to give any details, nor any names. That's how you get ready for a fight, and you thought the videos would stop. But they will never stop. You've got an infinite amount of venom, and then we'll hug and unite. At some point you have to capitulate something. Real tension, real fight." The statements came two days after Johnson posted a series of videos to his Instagram page – including one of him appearing shirtless and holding what appeared to be two golden firearms – before allegedly traveling to Rogan's hometown. "Joe Rogan, I'm calling you out," Johnson said in an Instagram video posted on June 23. "My name's Liver King. Man to man, I'm picking a fight with you. I have zero training in jiu-jitsu. You're a black belt, you should dismantle me. But I'm picking a fight with you. Your rules." According to the Austin Police Department, Rogan told authorities the two men had never met and that he felt the videos were threatening in nature. Detectives subsequently obtained a warrant for Johnson's arrest and he was taken into custody at the nearby Four Seasons hotel without incident, police said. A video of Johnson handcuffed while sitting in the back of a police vehicle was posted to his Instagram account on Tuesday night. Johnson participates in a self-described "ancestral lifestyle," rising to internet stardom by discussing topics such as his diet of primarily raw meat – including animal liver. Johnson was charged with allegedly making a terroristic threat and initially held at the Travis County Jail, according to APD. Representatives for both Rogan and Johnson did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.

Jun. 26—U.S. Marshals arrested a former Albuquerque Christian school teacher accused of child sex abuse in Idaho on Thursday, according to police. Kelly McEachran, 66, is charged with criminal sexual penetration and criminal sexual contact of a minor under 13. The victim is an 11-year-old girl who McEachran taught at Hope Christian School, according to a criminal complaint filed in 2nd Judicial District Court. McEachran's lawyer, Christopher Dodd, said that McEachran was on vacation in Idaho and in the process of turning himself in to authorities when arrested. Since the headlines broke, another former student has come forward alleging abuse, according to an Albuquerque Police Department news release. Other students have also called APD with information about more potential victims. No additional charges have been filed against McEachran following these allegations. Hope Christian School could not be reached for comment. A 2016 video posted on Facebook suggests that McEachran was also a pastor at Legacy Church. In the video, posted on Legacy's account, McEachran is referred to as "Pastor Kelly." The mega-church's attorney, Nicole Westbrook, said he worked in an administrative role a decade ago. The video has since been removed. In McEachran's classroom, the alleged abuse went on for five to six months during the past school year, according to a petition for protection filed by the victim's family in 2nd Judicial Court. The girl told police that when she had questions, McEachran would invite her to sit beside him at his desk, where he would touch her inappropriately. "The police never sought to get his side of the story — they went straight to an arrest warrant," Dodd said. Police first began investigating the case more than two months ago, according to court documents. Police were first dispatched to reports of child abuse at Hope Christian on April 7. McEachran was placed on leave that day, the complaint details. Investigators later searched McEachran's classroom to corroborate details of the girl's story on May 23. A warrant for McEachran's arrest was issued Tuesday. Missing Abilene man's car found with a body inside
A submerged vehicle belonging to Jeremy Neves, an Abilene man reported missing, was discovered with a body inside of it on Thursday, according to an Abilene Police Department media release. The body has been sent for autopsy to confirm identification and determine the cause of death, police said in the media release. Neves, 25, was reported missing April 3, and police have been actively investigating his disappearance, police said. More: Abilene police investigate missing person's case APD has used various investigative techniques in an attempt to locate Neves, police said. Due to efforts from community members, out-of-state organization Rapid Compassion Collective, which specializes in locating missing persons, was called to help in the investigation, the release said. Rapid CC notified APD on Thursday that they had located a submerged vehicle in a section of Lytle Creek beneath Loop 322, the release said. The vehicle was recovered and was identified as Neves's tan 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, police said. The body found inside the car matched Neves physical description at the time of his disappearance.
