Woman threatens to ‘crash flight' over luggage dispute, detained at airport
A disruptive incident aboard an Air India Express flight at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) led to the detention of a 36-year-old passenger, Vyas Hiral Mohanbhai earlier this week, moments before the scheduled departure of flight IX2749 to Surat. The altercation, stemming from a disagreement over cabin baggage, escalated into a serious safety concern, prompting swift action by authorities.
The disturbance began when Mohanbhai, a doctor from Shivanahalli near Yelahanka, placed her bag in the overhead bin of the aircraft's first row but took her assigned seat in row 20F. When instructed by the cabin crew to relocate her bag to a bin closer to her seat, she refused, insisting that the crew handle the task. Her defiance persisted despite repeated requests from both the crew and the pilot, leading to a heated exchange. The situation worsened as Mohanbhai shouted at other passengers who were attempting to de-escalate the conflict.
The incident took a grave turn when she allegedly threatened to 'crash the flight,' alarming the crew and passengers. The pilot promptly notified security, and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel intervened, escorting Mohanbhai off the aircraft to ensure the safety of all on board.
Mohanbhai now faces charges under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including criminal intimidation and public mischief, as well as provisions of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act for jeopardising flight safety. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to examine the circumstances and motives behind her actions.

A teenage girl was sexually assaulted at knifepoint and a woman travelling with her in a car was robbed of gold ornaments when two assailants targeted their vehicle in the early hours of Monday on the Pune-Solapur highway, the police said. The Pune Rural police have launched an extensive manhunt for the suspects wanted for the armed robbery and sexual assault near Bhigwan, officials said. As per officials from the Daund police station, seven people from three families from Pune district, known to each other, were travelling from Pune towards Solapur in a van. Besides the girl and the woman, the passengers were a 70-year-old driver, two women, and two 17-year-old boys. 'Around 4.15 am, the driver had stopped the vehicle by the roadside to relieve himself. At that time, two unidentified men approached the car. Brandishing sharp weapons, they robbed one of the women of her gold ornaments. During this attack, one of the men dragged away the girl and sexually assaulted her,' said an officer from the Pune Rural police. When contacted, Sandeep Singh Gill, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, said, 'We have launched a coordinated probe to identify and arrest the accused.' A case has been registered at the Daund police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. 'Multiple teams from the local police station and the local crime branch (LCB) of the Pune Rural police are working on the various leads available,' an official said.

Faridabad woman booked for repeatedly slapping, abusing cook on casteist lines
The Faridabad police Friday booked a woman for allegedly slapping her cook eight times, and verbally abusing her, including hurling casteist insults, earlier this month inside her house. The Faridabad police said a First Information Report (FIR) was registered in the evening last Friday at the Sector 17 Police Station against Deepali Jain for allegedly slapping her cook, Shyama Devi. The FIR invoked Section 3 of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 133 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour), 351(3) (criminal intimidation by threatening grievous hurt), and 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Vinod Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Old Faridabad, said Monday, 'The investigation is underway. We do not have any updates at this stage. We will take necessary action after going through the CCTV footage and other evidence.' A spokesperson told The Indian Express Monday that the police have issued a notice to Jain to join the investigation, adding no arrests have been made so far. The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which has since gone viral online, and occurred at around 10.30 am on June 17 in Sector 17. CCTV footage shows Jain coming down a staircase, and slapping Delvi, who was speaking to a family member. Jain slaps her six more times as family members gather. She also attempts to hit Devi with a mop, but discards it after a family member intervenes. Jain then slaps her again before being led away. Devi, who has been working for the family for two-and-a-half years, claimed that Jain assaulted her 'for no reason' after she opened the door for the driver, who had rung the bell repeatedly. She stated in her complaint that her nose started bleeding, her cheeks were swollen, and her head hurt even as she allegedly faced casteist insults. She also alleged prior mistreatment.

Four members of family die in road accident
Kunigal, June 30 (UNI) In a gruesome accident, four members of a family, including a 13-year-old boy, were killed on the spot after their car allegedly collided head-on with a speeding mini truck on the Kunigal bypass in this district. The victims have been identified as Seebe Gowda (50), his wife Shobha (45), daughter Dumbishree (23), and son Bhanukiran (13), police confirmed today. According to police, the fatal accident occurred around 8 PM yesterday night while the family was en route to drop Bhanukiran, a Class 8 student at Valley School, to his hostel near Bidanagere on the outskirts of Kunigal. The family, residents of Magadi town, had reportedly finished dinner and were travelling together when their car encountered a mini truck allegedly coming from the wrong direction on a one-way stretch of the bypass. "A speeding Canter truck came from the opposite direction in violation of traffic rules and collided head-on with the car," a senior police officer said, adding that the car was also travelling at high speed. The collision was so intense that all four occupants of the car died instantly. The mini truck driver has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the officer stated. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further legal procedures are underway. The tragic accident has cast a pall of gloom over Magadi, where the family was well known in the local community.
