2025 Inter Dominion heats: Leap To Fame takes on Don Hugo at Albion Park
Leap To Fame has won all three heats and a Grand Final across two Inter Dominions, but yet another awkward inside back row draw (gate eight) presents him arguably his biggest challenge yet.
Not only is gate eight the worst place Leap To Fame could draw, but he's also following out his main danger Don Hugo, the second-best pacer in the series.
Dixon has driven against Luke McCarthy for more than 20 years and knows better than most the genius of Don Hugo's trainer-driver.
He won't give McCarthy the chance to 'snooker' him.
So, Dixon has dismissed growing speculation he would push through from the back row, sit behind Don Hugo and try to beat him in a dash home at the end of the long 2680m trip.
'I don't think I can afford to do that because that would give Don Hugo and Luke too much control of the race,' said Dixon.
'So, I'm pretty sure I will be getting away from the markers as soon as I can and more than likely have to sit parked outside Don Hugo at least the bell.
'Larry's (Leap To Fame's stable name) greatest attribute is his strength, so if we have to use that then that is how it will be.'

It's a powerful vote of confidence from Dixon in a race that doesn't actually mean a lot in the scheme of things because this is just a qualifying heat.
The big prize is the $1 million Ladbrokes Inter Dominion final a week later.
But it fits with the booming confidence Dixon exuded after Leap To Fame powered to victory after a tough run and in the fastest time of the night at last Saturday's opening round of heats.
'I was thrilled with how easily he did it and how sharp he felt. He's right where we want him,' he said moments after the runaway victory.
Dixon is also a competitive beast and will want to build on Leap To Fame's 2-1 lead over Don Hugo, who won last year's Inter Dominion final and beat Leap To Fame in the Miracle Mile in March.

McCarthy knows the draw has massively fallen his way this time, but he's still wary of Leap To Fame.
'That doesn't surprise me that Grant wants to get off my back, I've been saying all week I thought he'd do that,' he said.
'The draw is still a big help to us. My guy has trained-on really well and will be fitter for last week's win.
'It's a good track to be in front around and we'll get our chance to beat him.
'Put it this way, if we can't beat him from this draw over this distance (2680m) then I don't know how we possibly can in the final over even further (3158m).'
Leap To Fame is $1.60 tomorrow night despite the draw with Don Hugo at $2.60.
Leap To Fame's dominance is even stronger in Grand Final betting at $1.25 with Don Hugo at $3.80.
The final fields for the pacing and trotting finals will be decided tomorrow night with the crucial barrier draws on Sunday.

NRL threatens to suspend player agents Gavin Orr and Nash Dawson over physical altercation at schoolboys competition
The NRL has threatened to suspend two of the game's most powerful player agents over a physical altercation while away at a schoolboys competition last year. NRL officials confirmed on Thursday that they planned on banning Nash Dawson for nine months and Gavin Orr six months over the incident. The duo will also be fined $15,000 and $10,000 respectively, with the pair given until late next week to respond to the breach notices. Combined, Dawson and Orr represent some of the NRL's best talent. Dawson looks after the affairs of Ezra Mam, Reece Walsh, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Robert Toia, among others. Orr is the owner and director of sport at Pacific Sport Management, whose talent list includes Dylan Brown, Selwyn Cobbo, Jahrome Hughes and Valentine Holmes. "The notices allege that both agents have breached the NRL Accredited Agent Scheme Rules and the Accredited Agents' Code of Conduct following a physical altercation between the agents at the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships in 2024," the NRL said in a statement. "It is also alleged the agents failed to co-operate with the NRL integrity unit. "Under the Accredited Agents' Code of Conduct, Accredited Agents are required to operate with high personal and professional standards." The altercation is believed to have happened outside of a pub, while the pair were in Port Macquarie last year. Realistically, the impact on either of the pair's clients is likely to be minimal, given Dawson and Orr's colleagues from the same companies can handle matters. It comes after show-cause notices handed to fellow player agents Mario Tartak and Matt Desira proposed sanctions of fines and bans last month. AAP

Andrew McQualter enlists West Coast's AFLW coach Daisy Pearce to help struggling men's program
West Coast Eagles coach Andrew McQualter says he will pick the brain of AFLW great Daisy Pearce to help the men's program rebound from the lowest ebb in the club's AFL history. The Eagles (1-18) have won just 11 games since the start of 2022, and will collect their second wooden spoon in the space of three years. Given how dire the past four years have been, West Coast will formally ask the AFL for a priority pick. That impending request has already attracted a wave of criticism from fans and experts, given West Coast won the flag in 2018 and reached the finals as recently as 2020. McQualter has endured a tough debut year and is desperate to fast-track the team's rebuild. The 39-year-old revealed on Thursday that part of his plan was to tap into the knowledge of AFLW trailblazer Pearce, who is the coach of West Coast's women's team. Pearce led the Eagles to a 4-7 record in her first year as coach — the best return for the club in its six-season AFLW history. The 37-year-old previously served as a development coach with Geelong before landing the top role with the Eagles. "Daisy has finished her first year, added a second pre-season, and I will really look to use Daisy as a resource as to what she learned over that period," McQualter said. "Just with where we're at as a team and a club; we have to get better really quickly. Even if they get knocked back, West Coast is still likely to have the first two picks in the national draft.
