Please share the recent performance of the hotel sector in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Dubai and the Northern Emirates remain among the most dynamic and high-performing hospitality markets globally. Demand for both leisure and business travel remains robust, supported by a strong events calendar, ongoing government initiatives, and an ever-expanding tourism sector. We have recorded impressive occupancy rates across our properties, with strong RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) growth driven by strategic pricing, targeted marketing, and our commitment to exceptional service. The Northern Emirates, in particular, are seeing increasing interest from travellers seeking unique experiences, and we are capitalising on this by positioning our properties as leading destinations in their respective markets. Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) reports its strongest year ever, welcoming a record-high 1.28 million overnight arrivals in 2024, marking 12% growth in tourism revenues and a notable 15% rise in MICE visitors. This success is a testament to the Emirate's strategic and sustainable growth vision to attract over 3.5 million annual visitors by 2030. Tourism has become a cornerstone of Ras Al Khaimah's economic development. The emirate's strategic infrastructure investments, such as the upcoming Rotana Mangrove (258 keys) and a focus on bolstering air connectivity, are designed to attract international visitors. Moreover, the introduction of innovative events like the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival and the ongoing commitment to hosting large-scale entertainment events, such as the record-breaking fireworks, further cement its position as a year-round destination.
What are your vision, goals, and plans for the hotel this year? Any new initiatives that will be introduced in the new year?

AppsFlyer Reports Decline in UA Spend Despite Mobile Growth
Home » Smart Sectors » Retail » AppsFlyer Reports Decline in UA Spend Despite Mobile Growth AppsFlyer has revealed the UAE findings of its annual State of eCommerce Mobile Marketing report. The data highlights how Chinese eCommerce apps continue to dominate user acquisition (UA) spending in one of the world's top mobile-first economies. In the first half of 2025, Chinese apps accounted for 73% of all UA spend in the UAE. France followed with 13%, and India with 8%, driven by focused campaigns and expat-centric strategies. The report pointed to growing competition from overseas brands. As a result, local eCommerce retailers saw their UA investments shrink. This trend reflects budget reallocations, rising pressure from international players, and market consolidation. AppsFlyer experts noted that local brands still have growth opportunities. However, success will require clear strategies and performance-driven, localised campaigns. Sue Azari, Industry Lead eCommerce at AppsFlyer, explained that Chinese apps have long targeted markets outside China. She said the UAE is a natural fit due to its premium audience and digital maturity. French apps are focusing on iOS users, while Indian advertisers likely see strong potential in the UAE's South Asian expat population. AppsFlyer also reported strong growth for iOS in the UAE. While Android app installs are projected to grow 713% since 2017, iOS installs are expected to rise by 1383% over the same period. Year-on-year, iOS installs are forecast to more than double in 2025. At the same time, iOS fraud rates dropped 63% year-on-year in H1 2025. Android's fraud rate, however, rose 234% in the same period. This indicates iOS is becoming a safer and more attractive platform for marketers, despite Android's scale. The report also revealed a decline in overall UA spending. In H1 2025, Android UA spend fell 21% compared to the same period in 2024. iOS spend declined only 6%, showing more resilience. Yet, the period also saw record-high remarketing investments. Q1 2025 remarketing spend tripled compared to Q1 2024 Ramadan and retail events played a major role in early-year performance Azari encouraged marketers to align campaigns with seasonal peaks like Ramadan and build remarketing strategies to sustain engagement afterward. She also noted that declining Android UA spend may offer cost-effective inventory for savvy brands. AppsFlyer concluded that the UAE remains a competitive market for mobile commerce. Advertisers who balance premium iOS strategies with cost-effective Android engagement and adapt budgets to seasonal trends are best positioned for success.

Qatar expected to invest $4bln in Egypt tourism project: report
Qatar is expected to pump nearly $4 billion into a major tourism project involving resorts and luxury houses on the Northwestern Egyptian Mediterranean coast, a Saudi news website reported on Monday. The project is located in Ras Alam El-Rum town and will span an area of around 240,000 square metres, the Arabic language site Asharq said. It quoted two unidentified Egyptian government officials as saying Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), the Gulf country's sovereign wealth fund, will fund the project which includes resorts, luxury houses, shopping malls, yacht marina and other facilities. The report said the development is similar to Ras Al-Hekma project, which is undertaken by ADQ, the Abu Dhabi investment holding company. ADQ said last year it would pump $35 billion into the project on the Northern Egyptian coast, making it the largest foreign investment in the Arab nation. Phase 1 of the QIA project includes the operation of 20-25 percent of its area, the report said, adding that Egypt's government will be entitled for 15 percent of the revenues. 'Measures are under way to allocate the land for the project and issue the necessary licenses…it will be announced this year in case the negotiations between the two sides are successful,' it said. The reported project coincides with an intensified drive by Cairo to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to stimulate its economy and tackle debt and fiscal deficits. Officials have said the target is to receive $42 billion FDI during the 2025-2026 fiscal year, which started on 1 July. In a report last week, the US-based Institute of International Finance (IIF) urged Egypt to speed up privatisation and reform of public enterprises to ensure continued support by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Gulf oil producers. UAE holidays 2026: Expected dates for long weekends revealed
While the UAE's public holiday calendar for 2026 has not officially been released, residents can expect several breaks throughout next year. However, these dates remain estimates and may be subject to change pending moon sighting for Islamic holidays. The official calendar marking the important days will be revealed by the UAE Cabinet. Predicated UAE holiday dates for 2026 revealed New Year's Day falls on Thursday, January 1, potentially providing workers a four-day weekend when combined with the standard Friday-Saturday break. Eid Al Fitr is scheduled for March 19-22, spanning four days from Thursday to Sunday. This creates a four-day break when combined with the following weekend. The Arafat Day holiday is set for Tuesday, May 26, followed by Eid Al Adha from May 27-29. This Wednesday to Friday period offers another break for residents. The Islamic New Year falls on Tuesday, June 16, whilst Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (PBUH) is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25. The year concludes with three consecutive holidays: Commemoration Day on Tuesday, December 1 and UAE National Day celebrations on Wednesday, December 2, and Thursday, December 3. If Friday is also declared a holiday, UAE residents will be able to enjoy a six-day break when combined with the weekend.
