Mercedes has shared an emotional throwback to the 2024 British Grand Prix, where seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton secured his first victory since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
The race win marked an emotional moment for the Briton as he broke a two-year drought to regain his winning form, a journey that was emotionally and physically challenging. Hamilton's winning spree ended after he lost his potential eighth world title to Max Verstappen in the 2021 season finale under controversial circumstances.
The historic win at Silverstone was the perfect scenario Hamilton could have asked for, since it was his last home race with Mercedes, a team with which he celebrated huge success, securing six drivers' titles and contributing to the outfit's eight constructors' championships starting in 2014.

The post read:
"The #BritishGP 2024? Nothing short of memories that last a lifetime. See you again this weekend, Silverstone."
The 2025 British GP marks Mercedes' first race without Hamilton, while the 40-year-old driver steps into Silverstone for the first time in red racing overalls.
Mercedes is celebrating the launch of the AMG GT XX concept car this weekend, and as a result, it has unveiled new racing overalls for George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The design remains unchanged, except for Mercedes-AMG's logo, which appears in "sunset beam orange." Additionally, the W16 F1 car will also sport an orange Mercedes logo.
Addressing the updated livery for this weekend, Mercedes said in a statement:
"It's all to do with our celebration of the three-pointed star's past, present, and future, as F1 gets set to celebrate its 75th anniversary, at the home of the very first F1 World Championship race in 1950.
"The future will be seen with the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, Mercedes-AMG's pioneering technology programme, that recently launched at Mercedes-AMG's Affalterbach headquarters with George, Kimi and Valtteri.
"A concept car that offers insight into the first series-production model based on AMG.EA high performance will be on display at Silverstone. The concept car's eye-catching sunset beam orange livery is inspired by the revolutionary Mercedes C111 vehicles of the 1960s and 1970s.
"The sunset beam orange accents will feature on the W16 including the famous three-pointed stars on its nose and engine cover, driver overalls, and both George and Kimi will run special helmets incorporating the colour in celebration of the CONCEPT AMG GT XX launch.
"The high-voltage battery in the CONCEPT AMG GT XX is a completely new development. It benefits from all the experience from the AMG ONE and Formula 1 as well as the knowledge of the best engineers from Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach and Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) in Brixworth."

Current, former Packers players on CFL's negotiation lists

A pair of current Green Bay Packers players and several former players were named among the CFL's nine exclusive negotiation lists, which were made public on Wednesday. Each of the CFL's nine teams can place up to 45 players on their respective negotiation list, giving the team exclusive negotiating rights with the players. The players can be currently in the NFL, a different professional football league, or in college. Note: the lists are subject to change, and teams can trade the negotiation rights to players. Being on a list signifies a level of interest in the player from the CFL team. It does not guarantee a signing, but instead provides a negotiation right should the player become available or have interest in joining the CFL. Advertisement Here are the current and former Packers on the opening list Wednesday: Current players Cornerback Gregory Junior (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) Offensive lineman Brant Banks (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) Junior, a sixth-round pick of the Jaguars in 2022, signed with the Packers in May. He'll compete for a roster spot as a backup at cornerback, a position with plenty to get figured out during training camp. Banks was an undrafted free agent signed out of Rice following the 2024 draft. While likely a long shot to make the roster, he'll have a chance to earn a coveted practice squad spot this summer. It's possible Junior or Banks could sign with the Tiger-Cats if they don't stick in Green Bay and can't find an opportunity elsewhere for the 2025 season. Advertisement Former players Linebacker Ralen Goforth (BC Lions) Linebacker Austin Ajiake (Edmonton Elks) Running back Ellis Merriweather (Edmonton Elks) Offensive tackle Caleb Jones (Edmonton Elks) Wide receiver TJ Luther (Edmonton Elks) Defensive lineman Jeremiah Martin (Edmonton Elks) Cornerback Gemon Green (Calgary Stampeders) Receiver Lulu Griffin (Calgary Stampeders) Defensive lineman Keshawn Banks (Saskatchewan Roughriders) Receiver Jadon Janke (Saskatchewan Roughriders) Quarterback Alex McGough (Saskatchewan Roughriders) Safety Benny Sapp III (Saskatchewan Roughriders) Cornerback Kiondre Thomas (Winnipeg Blue Bombers) Defensive lineman Justin Hollins (Toronto Argonauts) Cornerback Zyon Gilbert (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) Cornerback Kaleb Hayes (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) Wide receiver Malik Knowles (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) Defensive back Henry Black (Montreal Alouettes) Linebacker Christian Young (Montreal Alouettes) Among the former Packers already on CFL rosters are receiver Reggie Begelton and offensive lineman Zack Johnson. Former Packers kicker Brayden Narveson was released by the Edmonton Elks. This article originally appeared on Packers Wire: Current, former Packers players on CFL's negotiation lists

Former F1 race steward Tim Mayer to run for FIA presidency, reports say

SILVERSTONE, England (AP) — American ex-Formula 1 race steward Tim Mayer is set to announce he is running for the presidency of governing body the FIA, media reports said on Thursday. A news conference was scheduled for Friday near the Silverstone circuit ahead of British Grand Prix practice to announce an unnamed candidate for the FIA presidency. The BBC and specialist auto racing sites reported the candidate was Mayer. Mayer is the son of McLaren team co-founder Teddy Mayer. He has held senior roles in U.S. racing series and was a long-time F1 steward until last year. The BBC reported at the time that Mayer said he was fired after FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem objected to his role in an appeal filed by the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, in relation to a FIA fine. The announcement comes just over a week after rally champion Carlos Sainz, Sr. ruled out standing against Ben Sulayem. Ben Sulayem, elected to the post in 2021, has faced criticism over his management. In April, Robert Reid resigned as FIA deputy president for sport in protest at how the organization is run. Ben Sulayem had also been at odds with some F1 drivers over his crackdown on swearing, before the penalties were reduced in May. Mercedes driver George Russell, who is a director of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association, said on Thursday he would welcome a contested election for the FIA presidency. 'I think in life, competition is always good because it brings out the best in people,' Russell said. ___
