The draft law would increase monthly support to BD300 for university graduates and to BD250 for others seeking work.
In a separate discussion, the committee looked at changes to the private sector labour law. These would make it harder for firms to end contracts on economic grounds.
Employers would need to submit financial statements and relevant papers alongside any termination notice.
They would also be required to pay full compensation and show they had explored alternatives before letting Bahraini staff go, except in cases of real urgency and within the limits set by law.
Work permits
Another measure put forward would give businesses a 30-day grace period to renew work permits, reducing the risk of fines and court action.
The change is intended to ease pressure on employers, reduce irregular hiring and support closer oversight of the labour market.
The committee met with senior figures from the Social Insurance Organisation and the Ministry of Labour, including Sahar Rashid Al Al Mannai and Ahmed Jaafar Al Haiki, during Monday's session. Dr Jameela Mohammed Redha Al Salman, who chaired the meeting, also received input from Ali AbdulAli BuHussain regarding the labour law amendments.

Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, met today with the dedicated teams that played a key role in helping bring back Bahraini citizens stranded abroad due to recent international crises. Tamkeen Opens Registration to Enterprises for the 'AI Training Program'
The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) has announced that resgistration is now open for private sector enterprises interested in enrolling their employees under the 'AI Training Program'. This program is part of a broader initiative launched in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), which aims to train 50,000 Bahrainis in Artificial Intelligence by 2030. The program provides private sector enterprises with the opportunity to equip their employees with the necessary knowledge, understanding, and practical tools to effectively integrate Artificial Intelligence into their operations. The program includes three training tracks: AI Generalists track, AI Specialists track, and AI for Executives track. Registration is now open for the AI Generalists track which is designed for employees with foundational information technology (IT) literacy, and the AI for Executives track, designed for C-suite, executives or self-employed entrepreneurs. As for the AI Specialists track, registration will be announced at a later stage. Mr. Khalid Al Bayat, Chief Growth Officer at Tamkeen, reaffirmed Tamkeen's commitment to equipping national talent with the skills required to enhance their competitiveness in the labor market, in line with its mandate of making Bahrainis the first choice for employment.
