Foreign Minister Commends Efforts in Returning Stranded Bahrainis Home
During the gathering, Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Al Muslamani, Head of Consular Services, expressed deep appreciation for the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He praised their firm instructions to prioritize the safe return of Bahrainis who were stuck overseas and wished to come home.
Ambassador Al Muslamani highlighted that thanks to the tireless efforts and cooperation of all government bodies and Bahrain's embassies abroad, as well as the support from GCC and Arab embassies, all citizens who wanted to return have now safely arrived back in the Kingdom.
Minister Al Zayani praised the commitment and teamwork displayed by all those involved, noting that their success reflects the strength of the 'Team Bahrain' spirit. He stressed the importance of continuing this collaborative and dedicated approach, especially in foreign policy matters where citizens' safety and welfare must remain a top priority — particularly in emergencies and crisis situations.
He also extended special thanks to the governments and embassies of fellow GCC and Arab countries, and especially Turkmenistan, for their cooperation and assistance during these difficult times. The Minister also acknowledged the crucial role played by Bahrain's diplomatic missions in ensuring that no citizen was left behind.
Dr. Al Zayani concluded by wishing the teams continued success in serving the nation and its people.

Sharjah Regulates Auction of Special Vehicle Plates
Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler and Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired the council meeting on Tuesday morning at the Ruler's Office, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council. The council issued a decision to regulate the auction sale of special vehicle number plates in the Emirate of Sharjah The meeting discussed several agenda topics focused on monitoring the performance of government departments and entities, and developing the legislative framework to enhance government work and achieve integration across sectors in service of the community. The council decided to conclude the first regular session of the twentieth annual term for municipal councils in the Emirate of Sharjah, with the session officially ending on Thursday, 8 Muharram 1447 AH, corresponding to July 3, 2025. During the period between sessions, the general committees of the municipal councils will continue handling their respective affairs. The council has also implemented a decision to regulate the auction sale of special vehicle number plates in the Emirate of Sharjah. This regulation relates to plates designated by the Sharjah Police General Command. Under this decision, the Sharjah Police will organise and supervise the auctions, establish conditions and regulations, specify plate numbers and category codes, contract with specialised companies, and manage any additional tasks assigned by the Executive Council. The decision stipulated that licensed investment funds registered with the Securities and Commodities Authority and listed in the investment funds register have the right to own and use real estate in the emirate in accordance with the regulations set forth in this decision, as follows: 1. Private investment funds that are fully owned by UAE citizens or GCC nationals, as well as public investment funds, have the right to own real estate in all areas of the emirate and to use real estate in projects approved for usufruct sale. 2. Private investment funds that include units owned by non-UAE citizens and non-GCC nationals have the right to own real estate in projects approved for sale to foreigners and to use real estate in projects approved for usufruct sale. The decision also includes legal articles concerning ownership and usufruct conditions, investment fund registry, powers of the Real Estate Registration Department, fees, data updates, suspension of fund transactions, and trading of private fund units. Israel opposition chief calls for end to Gaza war
Undefined I sraeli opposition leader Yair Lapid yesterday urged an end to more than 20 months of war in Gaza, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces mounting calls to halt the fighting. Following the swift conclusion of Israel's war against Iran with a ceasefire last week, foreign leaders such as US President Donald Trump as well as Israeli exprime minister Naftali Bennett have pressed Netanyahu to find a similar off-ramp in the fight with Hamas. 'There is no longer any benefit for the State of Israel from continuing the war in Gaza. Only damage on the security, political and economic level,' Lapid told a meeting of lawmakers from his parliamentary group. 'This is also the position of the army,' he added. 'Hamas will not be eliminated as long as an alternative government is not brought into Gaza,' Lapid said, suggesting enlisting the help of Egypt and other Arab countries. A public opinion poll published the day after Tuesday's ceasefire with Iran by public broadcaster Kan showed that nearly twothirds of respondents wanted the Gaza war to end. Following the Iran ceasefire, Israel's army chief said the military's focus would shift back to Gaza. Netanyahu said Sunday that the successful Iran campaign had created 'opportunities', including for freeing the hostages. 'Of course, we will also have to solve the Gaza issue, to defeat Hamas, but I estimate that we will achieve both goals,' he added. Hamas seized 251 hostages during attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Of these, 49 are still believed to be held in Gaza, including 27 the Israeli military saysare dead. Israel's retaliatory campaignhas killed at least 56,531 peoplein Gaza, also mostly civilians, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry. Ashura, repatriation and GCC prep dominate Cabinet
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting on Monday, guiding national efforts on three critical fronts - Ashura preparations, crisis response, and the upcoming GCC summit in December. Unity through coordination The Cabinet began its session at Gudaibiya Palace by reviewing the measures taken by authorities to implement the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the organisation of Ashura. The meeting reaffirmed that openness, tolerance, and unity remain the core values of Bahraini society. Cabinet members emphasised that religious occasions such as Ashura are opportunities to strengthen national cohesion. They welcomed the outcomes of the annual meeting between the Minister of Interior and the General Authority of Husseini Processions, along with ma'atam officials from across the Kingdom. GCC summit preparations Following the royal directives, the Cabinet instructed all relevant ministries to begin coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare for the 46th session of the GCC Supreme Council, which will be hosted in Bahrain this December. The Cabinet expressed confidence that the summit would further strengthen Gulf cooperation and support initiatives that benefit all citizens of the region. Crisis response praised The Cabinet also welcomed the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other authorities in facilitating the safe return of Bahraini citizens stranded abroad during last week's regional escalation. The operation followed the directives of His Majesty the King and the order of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Gratitude was extended to diplomatic missions of GCC and allied countries whose cooperation contributed to the success of the repatriation efforts. Strategic focus In light of the summer period, the Cabinet approved a temporary shift to a bi-weekly meeting schedule for July and August. This adjustment allows more targeted follow-up on national priorities and international engagements. The Cabinet also reviewed and approved several memorandums, including developments under the Government Priorities Framework 4.0, a transfer of Bahrain's share in the Bahrain Agriculture Development Company to Mumtalakat, trade protection measures within the GCC, and the results of national examinations for ninth and twelfth grades. Additionally, the Cabinet was briefed on recent ministerial engagements abroad and Bahrain's recognition as a leading destination for events at the WOW Asia Awards.
