House of Abhinandan Lodha enters hospitality with Miros Goa property
The company has primarily been in the business of plotted developments and villas in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Goa. It recently entered the vertical real estate segment with three high-rise projects across Mumbai, with a revenue potential of Rs 3,500 crore and an investment of Rs 2,500 crore.
Abhinandan Lodha, Chairperson of HoABL, said, 'With Miros, we are extending our belief in reimagining legacy industries. Just as we've made land ownership aspirational and accessible, we're now creating destinations that are rooted in emotion, curated with care, and designed to leave behind memories that last a lifetime.'
Miros will expand its footprint with new properties in Alibaug and Matheran in Maharashtra, as well as in other high-end locations in Goa and along the Konkan coast, HoABL noted. However, HoABL will continue to tie up with hotel asset management brands while managing its own brand. It is in talks with several hospitality brands for future tie-ups.
'We are building sanctuaries of discovery where guests can truly reconnect with themselves, their companions and their surroundings. Luxury today isn't about the opulence of stays, but about rare moments crafted with warmth and authenticity,' said Ranvir Bhandari, President, Miros Hotels & Resorts.
In November 2024, HoABL announced acquisitions of land parcels with an estimated revenue potential of a billion dollars and an investment of Rs 3,000 crore. It acquired over 352 acres, or 15,333,120 square feet, of land across Amritsar, Vrindavan, Varanasi, Shimla, Nagpur and Khopoli near Mumbai.
In April this year, the company announced its foray into the vertical real estate sector with the construction of three projects located across Mumbai.

Over Rs 11 lakh crore in loans disbursed to women self-help groups by banks: Minister
New Delhi: Loans worth over Rs 11 lakh crore have been disbursed to women self-help groups (SHGs) through formal financial institutions under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Wednesday. This milestone reflects the central government's strong commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards inclusive rural development, financial empowerment of women, and fostering self-reliance at the village level, he added. Under the Ministry of Rural Development's DAY-NRLM, rural poor women across the country are strengthening their livelihoods through robust community institutions. Through SHGs, they are being provided collateral-free loans, interest subsidies, and other financial support, enabling them to start their own businesses and increase their incomes. A repayment rate of over 98 per cent clearly demonstrates the initiative's credibility, discipline, and efficient management, said Chouhan. Appreciating the banking community's support, Chouhan said that banking partners have played a remarkable role in turning the dreams of millions of rural women into reality. The tireless efforts of 'Bank Sakhis' have facilitated SHG-bank linkage and ensured timely loan repayment. He further said that the main contribution of this banking partnership is the provision of easy loans to SHGs under the priority sector lending, along with accessible banking services for SHG members through simplified processes. The initiative also promotes Aadhaar and mobile seeding of bank accounts and enhances financial literacy. The repayment systems are being strengthened in the country. 'Bank Sakhis' are increasingly assisting with transactions, loan applications, and documentations, as well as creating awareness about insurance, pensions, and other financial schemes. Moreover, the Community Based Repayment Mechanism (CBRM) is being fortified to ensure timely loan recovery under this significant programme. The central government initiatives like DAY-NRLM and 'Lakhpati Didi' are transforming the economic status of millions of women in rural India, he mentioned.

OMC Power to invest Rs 4,000 cr to build 1k MW clean energy portfolio in 3-5 years
TIL Creatives Renewable energy production OMC Power is looking to build up a renewable energy portfolio of 1,000 MWp with an investment of Rs 4,000 crore across various locations in the country, the company's MD & CEO Rohit Chandra said. The homegrown entity which is backed by Japanese like Mitsui & Co. and Chubu Electric Power, aims to set up these capacities across four business verticals over the next 3 to 5 years. In an interaction with PTI, Chandra said, "OMC Power scaling rapidly with the ambition to build a 1 GWp clean energy portfolio spanning north and central India." When asked about investments, he said the company's ambitious plan will involve around Rs 4,000 crore investment. It will be a 10 times rise in capacity from 100 MWp (mega watt peak) operated at present, over the next three to five years, the CEO said. Sharing a break-up of the planned 1 GWp (gigawatt peak) or 1,000 MWp capacity, Chandra said around 600 MWp will be achieved from rooftop solarization for customers in healthcare space where it has a capacity of 75 MWp. Around 200 MWp will be added in its green energy for telecom vertical where the company supplies power to tower companies from 15 MWp capacity. To serve rural areas, the company plans to add another 100 MWp in smart grids where it has 10 MWp of operational capacity. OMC Power will add 100 MWp in solar EPC space for MSME and C&I (Commercial and Industrial customers) customers from 5MWp. All these projects will be worked out in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, and northeastern states. When asked about source of investments, Chandra said, "We have decided to move ahead with the plan as OMC Power has turned profitable. The capacity addition plan will be funded through internal accruals, some portion will come from existing Japanese investors and through debt from financial institutions." As per company information, OMC Power has reported a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 0.48 crore in Q1 FY26, marking a positive turnaround after several consecutive quarters of losses.

Angel investing in India, though still in its nascent stage, recently crossed the $1 billion commitment mark. While the milestone reflects a growing appetite for early-stage risk capital, the number of active angel investors appears to be shrinking. This decline is largely attributed to regulatory hurdles, including the now-abolished 'angel tax' and the Securities and Exchange Board of India's (Sebi's) new accreditation requirements. This report breaks down the fundamentals of angel investing, profiles the top Indian angel investors and their key bets, and explores how emerging trends and regulations are reshaping the landscape. Who are angel investors? Angel investors are high net-worth individuals (HNIs) who invest their own capital in early-stage startups, usually at the seed or pre-seed stage, in exchange for equity. Although they generally do not interfere with day-to-day operations, they often provide mentorship and strategic support. Unlike venture capitalists (VCs), who typically invest pooled funds at later stages, angels invest their personal wealth at very early stages. Their involvement can significantly shape a startup's direction and growth. Angel investors also operate through networks or groups that allow them to pool resources and place larger bets. Kunal Shah, founder, Cred Shah has founded five companies and invested in over 287 startups across fintech, SaaS, consumer internet, and enterprise applications. Notable investments include Zetwerk, Shiprocket, and Bigbasket. In 2025, he invested in Spense ($1.85 million, Seed) and ($3 million, Seed). Anupam Mittal, founder, Mittal has backed over 245 startups across sectors such as consumer and retail. His key investments include Ola and MobiKwik. Recent investments include Kalakaram ($70,500), Dorabi ($116,000), Solnce Energy ($115,000), and HireForCare ($41,800, Seed). Ramakant Sharma, co-founder, Livspace Bengaluru-based Sharma has invested in 119 startups, with a focus on consumer and enterprise applications. Notable bets include Purplle and Dezerv. In June, he invested $5 million in Rabitat's Series A round. Binny Bansal, co-founder, Flipkart Bansal has backed 75 startups across enterprise, retail, and fintech. His portfolio includes PhonePe, Slice, Curefoods, Acko, and Hike. Recent investments include Posha ($8 million, Series A), RISA Labs ($3.5 million, Seed), and BorderPlus ($7 million, Series A). Rajan Anandan, former Google India Head Anandan has invested in 123 startups, with Rapido and Capillary Technologies among his top bets. His recent funding activity includes $19.5 million in Indifi (Series D, 2021) and $4.87 million in The Good Glamm Group (2020). Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder, Paytm Sharma has invested in 76 startups across fintech and internet services. His notable bets include MediBuddy, NoBroker, Unacademy, and Treebo. His latest investment was in ($3 million, Seed) in January. Investment trajectory remains uneven India's startup ecosystem has seen exponential growth. According to an Inc42 report, India had more than 1,900 active investors in Q1 2025, making it the third-largest startup ecosystem globally. Since 2014, startups have raised over $161 billion. In Q1 2025, total startup funding reached $3.1 billion, up from $2.2 billion in the same period last year. Seed-stage funding stood at $188 million, an 18 per cent year-on-year increase. Despite the momentum, angel funding forms only a small fraction of total investments. Private Circle data revealed that angel investors participated in 36 deals in January 2025, up from 28 a year earlier but down from 44 in December. A Financial Express report noted that of the top 200 funding rounds since 2019 involving angel investors, only eight took place in 2025 so far—down from 28 in 2024 and 26 in 2023. Angel participation has steadily declined across the years, despite over 3,400 funding rounds since 2019. Taxation and accreditation challenges The limited number of angel investors in India is partly due to regulatory issues. The now-defunct 'angel tax' had a dampening effect. Under Section 56(2)(vii)(b) of the Income Tax Act, investors had to pay a 30 per cent tax, plus 3 per cent cess, on income from unlisted company investments. This tax was abolished in 2024. According to a Finance Ministry release, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the repeal aimed to boost the startup ecosystem. However, a new challenge has emerged. On June 18, Sebi introduced its accreditation policy, requiring angel investors to gain formal accreditation from Sebi-recognised agencies. The move is expected to standardise the angel investment process but could limit access for smaller players.
