Model and TV star Abbey Clancy was on the verge of tears and her children were left in a state of panic following a mishap at the £3million mansion she shares with Peter Crouch. On their podcast, The Therapy Couch, Abbey recounted how she had intended to prepare a lovely meal for Peter while he was out.
"Bear in mind," Peter explained, "I've left the house for one hour – I haven't been out for long – but we've had the police round, the fire brigade round, the kids are screaming, and there's alarms going off everywhere."

Abbey explained that she'd started off with the best intentions, stating: "I thought, 'I'm going to make Pete a nice steak and [potato] dauphinoise for his dinner."

However, Abbey confessed, she's always found it challenging to get a frying pan to the perfect temperature to flash-fry a steak. Abbey prefers to use butter, rather than oil, in her frying pan, which can result in a rather smoky kitchen.
In Abbey's case, "the whole house was covered in smoke". "I couldn't even see the pan," Abbey added, "It was just smoke everywhere."

As you would expect in a multi-million pound house, there is an extensive system of smoke alarms installed: "One set of fire alarms went off, then another even louder alarm went off," Abbey recalled.
Adding to the chaos, Abbey's phone started ringing – it was the fire brigade asking if she needed any assistance and she had to awkwardly explain that she was merely experiencing a kitchen disaster.

Amidst the cacophony of alarms, Abbey found herself phoning Peter for advice on how to turn them off. She recalled: "Pete's like, 'You need to press the red button with the key.' So I pressed a red button with a key – then four minutes later three police cars turned up at my door."
In her rush to quieten the fire alarm, Abbey mistakenly triggered the panic button. When questioned by the police about the nature of the emergency, she light-heartedly admitted to her blunder.
Despite her assurances that it was a false alarm, the police were adamant about checking the house, concerned that there might have been an intruder forcing her to claim all was fine.

Wearing only a cosy dressing-gown, Abbey let the officers inside and discovered, quite serendipitously, one officer was a follower of her podcast.
'I was petrified," she recounted, feeling guilty over inadvertently wasting police time.

Peter's return home brought a realisation of the chaos, expressing disbelief at the sight of police and fire engines outside their residence. He lamented: "It was carnage," pointing out the disarray that seemed to unfold in his absence.
