Alesha Dixon opens up about relationship struggles amid split from her daughters' dad

Daily Record03-05-2025
Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon has opened up about her private life in a recent podcast hosted by former BGT judge David Walliams and Little Britain star Matt Lucas.
Alesha Dixon has opened up about her personal struggles insisting that she can "rise above" any issues in her private life. The 46-year-old Britain's Got Talent judge reportedly split from her partner of 12 years, Azuka Ononye, earlier this year.
Although it is now believed that living together for the sake of their children, during the tough times has helped the couple to try and reignite the spark in their romance. They are reportedly doing "all it takes" to make their marriage work.

In a recent podcast interview Alesha stated that she knows no matter what comes her way she'll survive, the Mirror reports. The star hinted at her recent tough times, saying: "If I look back at the course of my whole life, I have highs and lows, and I think that's just reflective of life, isn't it?"

"So as much as we'd all love to have the magical happy ending, life will be life. I'm sure I'll face many more challenges in my life, but no matter what challenges I'm faced with, I will rise above," she continued.
During the interview Alesha also opened up about her first marriage, and how strictly saved her from feeling lost during the divorce - she split from her ex MC Harvey in 2006 after he cheated on her.
Alesha recalled: "I felt so lost, like, so lost. I've never been in that situation before. I felt sorry for myself for a long time. Then I won Strictly Come Dancing. I'm being spun around in the air at the end. All this confetti was falling on me. I just looked up to the sky and I knew I was going to be okay."
"I could feel that energy at the time. And that really was what kind of got me through as well. Because it was a very emotionally challenging time. Being in Strictly as well, it enabled me to just be in this bubble."

Alesha opened up about her life on the Making A Scene podcast with David Walliams and Matt Lucas - Alesha and David have been friends for a number of years by both being judges on BGT.
It has been reported that Alesha confessed to her pals that her relationship with choreographer Azuka became "more of a friendship" before their rumoured split.

The couple made their last public appearance together on the red carpet at Stormzy's 30th birthday party in July 2023, and have not featured on each other's social media accounts in several months.
According to rumours Alesha and Azuka tied the knot in 2017, as she introduced him as her 'lovely husband' while appearing on Michael McIntyre's Big Show Christmas Special in December 2017. However neither of them have confirmed if a wedding actually took place.
The pair share two daughters Azura 10, and Anaya four, together.
Additionally on the Making A Scene podcast, co-host David revealed he once bombarded Alesha with flowers before they had even met - hinting he may have been interested in dating her in the past.
"I took a shine to you, which I don't mind saying," David told Alesha. "How could you not take a shine to this woman? We met at Strictly. I took my mum to the Strictly final. I sent Alesha a bunch of flowers to wish her well for the finals. But at that point, I'd never met you. Then our paths crossed..."
Then co-host Matt asked: "Did you ever go on a date?" to which David replied with a joke, stating: "No, she wouldn't go anywhere near me. She's not stupid. No, we're just friends."

'Kim Kardashian's £52 face wrap feeds into a dangerous obsession with facial perfection'

SKIMS has launched a brand new product that claims to help sculpt your face and help you wake up with a 'seriously sharp and contoured face' - but critics question whether it's taking beauty standards one step too far Kim Kardashian's SKIMS brand has never held back when it comes to unconventional standards of fashion lines - but the latest launch has left people divided. From bras with fake nipples on show to micro bikinis that would struggle to even cover a Dorito, it's a brand that always gets people talking. ‌ Renowned for their ultimate body shapewear, promising sleek silhouettes and serious tummy control knickers, the $3billion (£2.2bn) SKIMS empire has just released Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap designed to give you a snatched and sharp jawline, reduce puffiness and improve facial definition - apparently. ‌ Amid the launch, Mirror writer Danielle Kate Wroe called for the product to be "stopped". The shapewear, inspired by lymphatic drainage massages comes in two colours and tightly wraps around your face and neck and fastened with a Velcro strap. It's designed to be worn to bed, in the hope you wake up with a seriously sculpted face - but does it work? ‌ According to Kim, it's an "absolute necessity", as the contraption is infused with collagen yarns and the new launch, in true SKIMS style, has already sold out after only launching on July 29. Costing a staggering £52, shoppers are hoping to copy Kim's ultra-sculpted face shape. With many calling for women to just "sleep in peace", they aren't convinced this product is a good idea - including renowned skincare guru and expert Caroline Hirons, was seen chiming in on the Skims Instagram comments, asking: "Is it April Fools?" ‌ Another Instagram user wrote: "Guys, there's straight up no science to back this. Believe me, I've looked (I've always had a double chin) Save your money." While others are comparing it to Hannibal Lecter as well as The Handmaids Tale and slamming the "disturbing" product to pressuring women to conform to these beauty standards. For more stories like this subscribe to our weekly newsletter, The Weekly Gulp, for a curated roundup of trending stories, poignant interviews, and viral lifestyle picks from The Mirror's Audience U35 team delivered straight to your inbox. ‌ One of the unique selling points of the product is the collagen yarn, and according to Olga Skydan, dermatologist and member of the Medical Expert Board at the face yoga app Luvly, the term sounds scientific, but it's "largely a marketing ploy". She told The Mirror: "Collagen yarn refers to textile fibres infused with collagen peptides derived from fish or bovine sources. In some garments, these are used for moisturizing or skin-conditioning benefits. But the thing is, collagen molecules are far too large to penetrate intact through the skin barrier, and certainly too large to do so via a garment." She highlighted that it can't help promise a snatched face and compared it to a Gua Sha. She said: "Gua sha, at least, is based on traditional massage techniques that stimulate lymphatic drainage and blood flow. On the other hand, the SKIMS face wrap does something similar, but in a compressive way. It can temporarily reduce puffiness, just as sleeping in an upright position can. But make no mistake, there's no rejuvenation happening here." ‌ The expert also notes concern over the wording used for the product. The product is called 'Seamless Sculpt" and Olga said 'sculpted,' and other similar adjectives, "feeds into an already dangerous obsession with facial perfection and symmetry among women" and added: "The implication is that natural softness or aging is something to be concealed or fixed. And the fact that the solution is marketed as something you can wear at home while multitasking suggests that we should always be optimizing ourselves, even during rest." here are a lot of effective, non-invasive options out there, according to the expert. For example, professional-grade radiofrequency and ultrasound can stimulate collagen and elastin and at-home products such as retinoids and peptides can help improve skin density over time. ‌ As well as lifestyle habits like a consistent use of SPF, a protein-rich diet, adequate hydration, and quality sleep still form the foundation of skin health. Britain's Got Talent's Vinnie McKee shares heartfelt tribute to Ozzy Osbourne ahead of funeral

Britain's Got Talent singer Vinnie McKee, who was a finalist on the latest series of the reality television competition, has paid tribute to the Prince of Darkness Britain's Got Talent star Vinnie McKee has shared a heartfelt tribute to Ozzy Osbourne ahead of the Black Sabbath star's funeral today. ‌ The 29-year-old Scottish singer, who was a finalist on this year's series of the ITV competition, revealed how the Prince of Darkness has inspired his own music and the star is currently working on the band's 1972 hit Changes himself. ‌ The hit song was also covered by artist and close pal of Ozzy's, Yungblud, at Black Sabbath's final concert, Back To The Beginning, just weeks before Ozzy's sad death. Just a few days later, on July 22, it was announced that the iconic rock and reality TV star had died at the age of 76. It comes as Sharon Osbourne breaks down in tears at Ozzy's funeral in heartbreaking scenes. ‌ Since the sad news of Ozzy's death, tributes have poured in from stars all over the world and thousands of people flocked to the streets of Birmingham yesterday to memorialise and celebrate the late, great Ozzy as his coffin was taken on a 'final tour' around his hometown before a private funeral, which is taking place today. Heartbreaking images yesterday saw Ozzy's beloved wife Sharon breaking down alongside her children Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Ozzy's son Louis from a previous relationship as they stopped the procession to look at the huge collection of tributes left for Ozzy on Black Sabbath bench and bridge. It was hard not to be moved by the scenes, which Vinnie admits had an emotional impact on him. ‌ Speaking exclusively to the Mirror at the National Reality TV Awards on July 31, Vinnie said of Ozzy's procession through Birmingham: "I was watching today actually when I was coming down on the train and my heart went out to Sharon I think they're such a lovely family and I send them all the thoughts and prayers in the world." Vinnie is also due to release a new version of I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) – the song he did a moving rendition of for his first BGT performance which saw him score the Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell earlier this year. Speaking of his life after that spectacular moment, Vinnie told us: "My world has totally changed. I've got my single coming out next month, I'm really excited for that [it's] my own version of 500 Miles." ‌ However, that isn't the only music Vinnie has got coming up as the BGT star revealed that Ozzy's recent Black Sabbath reunion and sad death has inspired him to create a new cover. "I've got a cover of Changes that I've been working on," Vinnie said. "I love Ozzy Osbourne I think he's amazing. And I really was inspired by YungBlud's performance." Ozzy's death was announced in a statement from the Osbourne family. It read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." It was later reported that air ambulance crew flew to the Black Sabbath star's Buckinghamshire mansion and worked for two hours in a bid to save his life.

Larry Lamb starts making plans for death after announcing retirement from acting

Gavin and Stacey star Larry Lamb has shared how is thinking about his own mortality as he says he can seen the light at the end of the tunnel 'now and again' Actor Larry Lamb has revealed he's already started thinking about his mortality and confessed he thinks the end is near. The Gavin and Stacey star is gearing up for his 78th birthday and admitted death is on his mind. ‌ He shared how he wants to spend as much time as possible with his beloved family now that he has retired from acting. Larry has four children - TV presenter George Lamb, 45, Vanessa, 56, Eloise, 26, and Eva, 22. ‌ The Mick Shipman actor now spends the majority of his time in Normandy but sees his grown up kids as much as he can. It comes after Larry revealed to the Mirror that son George keeps him in check with 'brutal' home truths. ‌ However, as he gets older Larry is now thinking about death. "The older I get the more I think about how much I love life, but the more I think about how much I love life, the more it makes me think about death," he confessed. Each year, Larry and a pal head to a graveyard together to tidy up the headstones. A recent visit left him thinking about his own life as he told Daily Mail:"It all started me thinking more about facing it realistically, because sadly, I don't want to sign up for that bit at all, but in the end you are going to have to." ‌ Larry shared how the love of his children has spurred him on to live for as long as he can. In a candid confession, the actor shared how receiving messages from his kids on Father's Day and his birthday is a chance for them to express their love to him. "So I sat there basking in their love, in the sunshine and just realising how lucky I was, and what makes me, and drives me to keep doing whatever I can, to stay alive for as long as I can to give them a dad for as long as I can," Larry shared. "Somewhere out there – I see it now and again, flickering down the end of its kind of long, nicely illustrated tunnel there's a sign, and it says, 'Way Out,' and I know that's the way I'm going." ‌ Larry is already trying to make death less scary for himself, and has turned to poetry. He said it makes it "much easier to deal with" as he was "always very frightened". Earlier this month, Larry told the Mirror that, with age, he has become more comfortable sharing details of his life. "People are quite surprised, by the way I'm straightforward and honest about my life - what I've done and where I've been," said Larry. "I've gotten well into my 70s now, I've become a much more open person. I certainly don't feel any real restrictions now, you know?" Something else Larry is feeling with age is happiness, as he admitted these are the most carefree years of his life. "I'm just, kind of, having a great time," he laughed. "I'm happier and happier every day, except when I get up in the morning, I've got aches and pains I've got to deal with now. But that's common to everybody my age! You just laugh about it and get on, right?"
