Larry Lamb starts making plans for death after announcing retirement from acting
Actor Larry Lamb has revealed he's already started thinking about his mortality and confessed he thinks the end is near. The Gavin and Stacey star is gearing up for his 78th birthday and admitted death is on his mind.
He shared how he wants to spend as much time as possible with his beloved family now that he has retired from acting. Larry has four children - TV presenter George Lamb, 45, Vanessa, 56, Eloise, 26, and Eva, 22.
The Mick Shipman actor now spends the majority of his time in Normandy but sees his grown up kids as much as he can. It comes after Larry revealed to the Mirror that son George keeps him in check with 'brutal' home truths.
However, as he gets older Larry is now thinking about death. "The older I get the more I think about how much I love life, but the more I think about how much I love life, the more it makes me think about death," he confessed.
Each year, Larry and a pal head to a graveyard together to tidy up the headstones. A recent visit left him thinking about his own life as he told Daily Mail:"It all started me thinking more about facing it realistically, because sadly, I don't want to sign up for that bit at all, but in the end you are going to have to."
Larry shared how the love of his children has spurred him on to live for as long as he can. In a candid confession, the actor shared how receiving messages from his kids on Father's Day and his birthday is a chance for them to express their love to him.
"So I sat there basking in their love, in the sunshine and just realising how lucky I was, and what makes me, and drives me to keep doing whatever I can, to stay alive for as long as I can to give them a dad for as long as I can," Larry shared.
"Somewhere out there – I see it now and again, flickering down the end of its kind of long, nicely illustrated tunnel there's a sign, and it says, 'Way Out,' and I know that's the way I'm going."
Larry is already trying to make death less scary for himself, and has turned to poetry. He said it makes it "much easier to deal with" as he was "always very frightened".
Earlier this month, Larry told the Mirror that, with age, he has become more comfortable sharing details of his life. "People are quite surprised, by the way I'm straightforward and honest about my life - what I've done and where I've been," said Larry.
"I've gotten well into my 70s now, I've become a much more open person. I certainly don't feel any real restrictions now, you know?"
Something else Larry is feeling with age is happiness, as he admitted these are the most carefree years of his life. "I'm just, kind of, having a great time," he laughed.
"I'm happier and happier every day, except when I get up in the morning, I've got aches and pains I've got to deal with now. But that's common to everybody my age! You just laugh about it and get on, right?"

Ozzy Osbourne once said he didn't want to be remembered as the man who bit off the head of a bat, but the acclaimed musician's burial place had a cheeky nod to the infamous moment. Ozzy and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, bought the 250-acre estate, known as Welders House, in 1993, and according to the insider, it was a place they often 'escaped' to when they needed a break from fame during the height of his career. '[The mansion] had been where he and Sharon escaped from the showbiz world in the 1990s and 2000s to simply focus on family,' they explained. 'Once again it showed how despite all the amazing rock and roll success and celebrity he had, in his heart he was always a family man.' Ozzy announced that he planned to move back to Welders House permanently in 2022 after years of spending most of his time living in Los Angeles. At the time, he had the home revamped, adding the bat boxes as well as a 'rehabilitation wing' following his Parkinson's disease diagnosis in 2020. Planning documents for a health and welfare exercise suite, a swimming pool, and decking were submitted to the local council in March that year. But his battle with Parkinson's and a crippling fall that exacerbated his old quad bike injury are thought to have delayed his return to the UK. Ozzy famously bit the head off a bat after a fan bizarrely hurled the animal on stage during a Black Sabbath show in January 1982. It's been debated whether or not the creature was alive at the time; Ozzy has claimed that it was and that he needed to be rushed to the hospital for a rabies shot, while audience member Mark Neal, who alleges he was the one to throw it, has insisted it was dead. Either way, Ozzy's mouth was seen filling with blood as the audience watched on in horror, and he never lived down the shocking incident. He has long insisted he initially thought the bat was a rubber toy rather than a live animal before he bit it. In a 2020 interview with the Los Angeles Daily News, Ozzy admitted, 'It's not the way I want to be remembered [but] I know I'll be the man that bit the head off the bat. That will be my epitaph. A Coronation Street star has announced their departure from the ITV soap and it's already been broadcast. In a shocking turn of events, their character may have met their demise, after the actor's goodbye message left viewers convinced they were "brown bread". Logan Radcliffe returned to the ITV drama this week, receiving a visit from Carla Connor whilst behind bars. Regardless of who she is, it was enough to get Logan into hot water with a fellow inmate over a "mutual friend" he'd angered. He was told he had revealed too much, and with that his cell door was shut - making it obvious to viewers he was in serious danger. As the episode came to an end, actor Harry Lowbridge, who portrays Logan, went on Instagram to announce his departure from the programme - confirming his final scenes had now been shown. With that, fans are certain Logan is now dead. They suspect that whoever Tia was, genuine or not, he'd disclosed too much and an unknown individual had the cellmate punish him for running his mouth. Fans reckon it will be disclosed that Logan has been killed, murdered in his cell. The actor confirmed no additional scenes were planned when he shared on Instagram: "Farewell Logan.
