Six of Sydney's favourite personalities have shared their secret spots for a perfect day
First up: the man behind Sydney's fastest mullet. Electrician turned ultramarathon runner Nedd Brockmann, who's lived in Randwick for the past four years, has shared his top spots to run, recover and refuel in the Harbour City. FYI, over at Sydney.com you can now book a place on a Brockmann-approved running tour around the CBD, then schedule a recovery session at Surry Hills bathhouse Capybara before booking in for dinner at one of the athlete's favourite restaurants in the city, Luke Mangan's Luc San in Potts Point.
Olympian Jess Fox 's top Sydney itinerary is also active. Jess's perfect day starts with kayaking at dawn on Sydney Harbour, flying across the Jamieson Valley with Scenic World 's Beyond Skyway experience, then heading to Theo's Rooftop in her local area, Penrith, for sunset drinks. Conveniently, her itinerary is also, available to book via the Sydney.com site.
Turns out Aria-winning artist Budjerah is an adventurous guy, because he recommends a sunrise balloon ride over Camden, followed by a surfing session at URBNSURF, rounded out with the incredible BridgeClimb Burrawa Aboriginal Climb experience. Content kings The Inspired Unemployed are high-energy guys – they recommend having a "mystery picnic" in the Royal Botanic Gardens, jet boating on Sydney Harbour with Oz Jet Boating and doing paddle board yoga with Manly-based yoga studio Flow mOcean.
Podcaster, writer and comedy queen Lucinda Price (Froomes) is all about balance – with recommendations spanning from a snorkelling session at Shelly Beach to winding up at the Ace Hotel for dinner and drinks (with a backstage tour of Sydney Opera House thrown in the mix for a bit of culture).
Finally, one of our city's most beloved chefs: the mighty Dan Hong (Mr Wong, MuMu, Queen Chow) has put together a flavour-led itinerary that will take Sydneysiders on a food tour of Chinatown and to an immersive oyster-tasting experience on the Hawkesbury.
Minister for Tourism Steve Kamper says he agrees Sydney needs to do a better job of highlighting its many hidden gems, quoting Time Out's recent global round-up, which saw Sydney rank as the fifth-best city in the world for culture: 'Sydney was just ranked as one of Time Out's top five global cities for culture, but when you ask Australians about Sydney they'll say 'I've already seen the Harbour Bridge'. What is clear in the research is that our icons alone are not enough to get people to visit and revisit Sydney. We need to do a better job at showcasing all our city has to offer, we need to be more than our icons.'
At Time Out Sydney, we make it our mission to shine a light on Sydney's best bits on a daily basis, so we're big fans of this approach.

Ryanair-approved cabin case to rival Antler gets slashed by 30% in summer sale
As airlines continue to rack up steep fees when it comes to carry-on restrictions, now's the time to grab a Ryanair-approved cabin case that meets all the size restrictions as it lands on sale Why ditch style for practicality and affordability when you can have it all? Nere, a luggage brand to rival the likes of Antler, is currently hosting a major summer sale that's slashed the prices of many travel-ready pieces. Offering all of the durability and longevity you'd want for your new staple suitcase, Nere's cases boast a standout colour that means you'll never need to worry about your luggage being lost or misidentified ever again. Nere's Stori Cabin Suitcase is one of the covetable pieces up for grabs with a delightful discount. The Orchid Pink colourway is axed by a tidy 30%, saving shoppers £30. Plus, they'll help you avoid any extra unexpected charges when you get to the airport. Ryanair's carry-on size restrictions are a maximum of 40 x 20 x 25 cm, with the largest cabin bag being allowed at 55 x 40 x 20 cm. This Nere item measures 55 x 37.5 x 20 cm, comfortably meeting the larger cabin bag size requirements. One of Nere's most iconic suitcases, the Stori is a covetable piece of carry-on luggage that is the perfect travel companion for your next flight or car ride. Offering plenty of room for all of your essentials for your next weekend getaway, this cabin case comes equipped with several pockets and organised spaces to ensure your belongings are kept neat, tidy and safe on your travels. Armed with a quality ABS hard shell, this case boasts an impressive 31L capacity, though, of course, you'll need to check the maximum weight restrictions with your chosen airline to avoid further fees. Also featuring a recessed TSA-approved lock to provide extra security and peace of mind that your luggage is safe while you're on the go. Boasting a self-repairing zipper that's sure to be super convenient for avoiding any zipper mishaps while you're away, this 8-wheeled case promises quiet, smooth gliding with dual spinner wheels that mean you don't have to listen to any grating noises as you traverse the airport. Available in a rainbow of runway-inspired colours, from pastel pink to bright lilac to sleek sage green, your new suitcase is set to stand out on any flight, train ride, or bus journey and won't easily be mistaken for someone else's luggage. It's stylish, strong, and ready for adventure without jeopardising practicality and durability for style. Normally retailing for £99, this suitcase is now available for £69.30 thanks to Nere's summer sale. However, this specific discount only applies to the Orchid Pink variety, as other colours boast their own price cuts. In case you're not already convinced, this case boasts a near-perfect 4.8 out of 5-star rating from thrilled shoppers who have been quick to sing the praises of their new cabin case. One happy shopper gushes: "Brilliant case! Compact but spacey enough to hold all I need for a weekend away! The solid outer shell gives all the protection needed with an on trend colour too!" Another buyer beams: "Excellent case fits everything I need for a weekend away! Solid outer shell and roomy inside with gorgeous colours!" And a third enthuses: " This suitcase was a perfect size for a week away. It wheels smoothly and the handle is easy to get up and down quickly. It easily fits inside the overhead locker on planes (I have flown both Ryan Air and Wizz Air with it). Highly recommend this cabin suitcase." Though this less-than-happy customer does share their experience, noting: "Unfortunately the Stori carry on case is underwhelming with a very flimsy and unreliable handle which makes maneuvering of the bag a struggle when rushing from flight to flight. A sad story indeed." But that appears to be a rare opinion as plenty of other shoppers have raved about the case's durability and sturdiness, as this Nere fan points out: "I'm constantly on the move and need luggage that's not only functional but also stylish and reliable—and the Nere cabin luggage ticks all the boxes. From the moment I started using it, I noticed how thoughtfully designed it is for frequent travelers. The sleek, modern aesthetic makes it stand out without being flashy—perfect for maintaining a professional look while on duty. Beyond looks, it's built to perform: smooth 360° spinner wheels make navigating terminals effortless, and the sturdy telescopic handle feels solid even after continuous use. Its compact size is ideal for short layovers and fits easily into overhead compartments, yet it's surprisingly spacious." This buyer goes on to add: "The internal compartments are well laid out, with enough room to organize essentials for 1–3 day trips, which is often all I need when flying back-to-back routes. Durability-wise, it's handled the daily wear and tear of crew life beautifully. Zippers, wheels, and shell all hold up well even with frequent use. It's lightweight too, which is a huge plus when you're dragging it through multiple airports in a day. Whether you're crew or just a frequent traveler, this bag makes the journey smoother and more stylish. I couldn't recommend it more highly." If you're looking for other Ryanair-approved cabin cases, check out this Cabin Suitcase in Dune Yellow—Icon Stripe from Antler, which is now on sale for £111, down from £185. Or, head over to Amazon to find this 55×35×20 cabin suitcase for the more wallet-friendly price of £49.99.
