Kering stock analysis: Shareholder confidence despite profit drop

Kering's (KER) share price remains steady on Wednesday morning. After a brief dip immediately following the stock market's opening, the share price is now a few percentage points higher than the previous day. The French luxury group published its second-quarter and first-half results for the financial year after markets closed on Tuesday. The financial update revealed a 46 percent drop in profits in the first six months of 2025. However, shareholders appear to remain confident, as evidenced by trading on the French stock exchange, Euronext. The price per share at the time of writing was 220.35 euros (Wednesday, July 30, 10:30am GMT+2). The most recent high in Kering's share price was on February 17, 2025. At that time, the price per share on the French stock exchange reached 280 euros. Kering is particularly affected by the issues at fashion brand Gucci. The Italian brand represents almost half of the group's revenue and almost two-thirds of its operating profit. However, Gucci has seen its results decline steadily in recent seasons. In the second quarter, revenue fell by 27 percent. This article was translated to English using an AI tool. Major restaurant chain to close ONLY Scottish branch

Find out the locations of the six restaurants closing for good SHUTTERS DOWN Major restaurant chain to close ONLY Scottish branch A POPULAR restaurant chain has revealed it's closing six of its locations across the UK - including its only Scottish branch. Italian chain Gusto said yesterday it would have to close its "economically unviable" restaurants as part of a deal to save the brand. Advertisement 2 Visitors enjoying a meal outside Gusto on George Street, Edinburgh Credit: Alamy It is being taken over by private equity investment firm Cherry Equity Partners through a pre-pack administration process. This is an insolvency process for a business to sell its assets before appointing administrators. Gusto has now announced which of its 13 sites are set to shut for good. This includes the Italian restaurant's branch on Edinburgh's George Street. Advertisement Other branches pulling the shutters down are: Alderley Edge Cookridge Edinburgh Heswall Leeds Newcastle The sites remaining open are: Liverpool (Albert Dock) Birmingham Cheadle Knutsford Manchester Nottingham Oxford The closures mean 190 jobs will be lost but a further 300 will be saved. Paul Moran, chief executive of Gusto Restaurants, said yesterday: "We are profoundly sorry to see six of our restaurants close and are tremendously grateful for the support of our staff and our loyal customers at these locations over the years. Advertisement Inside the brand new small plates Italian slap bang in Glasgow's city centre "This investment marks an important step forward for Gusto, ensuring the future of the business and putting in place a strong and stable platform upon which we can start to grow the business again." Gusto offers classic Italian meals including pastas and sourdough pizzas. It also hosts Italian-style bottomless brunches and pizza-making experiences. What does it mean when a company goes into administration? ADMINISTRATION is when all control of a company is passed to an appointed to a licensed insolvency practitioner. It doesn't necessarily mean the end of the business. Instead, administrators will try to help a company find ways to repay debts or solve its cash flow problems. Administration can last anywhere from a few weeks to up to a year or more. But if the administration process can't rescue the company or find a new owner, this can lead to liquidation. Liquidation is the process of selling all assets and then dissolving the company completely. Restaurants and pubs have been struggling after a series of challenges in recent years. Advertisement They've cited the pandemic, the cost of living crisis and increasing taxes on businesses for increasing closures and chains collapsing into administration. One of the latest chains to crash into administration was Busaba Eathai, which was created by the founder of Wagamama. The Thai chain had operated 16 restaurants at its peak but this was reduced to 12 following a CVA in 2020. Posh chain Oakman Inns & Restaurants also said it would close six sites and transfer a further 12 as part of its administration. Advertisement It blamed the hangover from the pandemic and elevated interest rates. Plus, BrewDog announced it would close 10 sites last week - including its flagship branch in Aberdeen. The pub chain already closed six sites at the start of the year following a £63million loss. What is happening to the hospitality industry? By Laura McGuire, consumer reporter MANY Food and drink chains have been struggling in recently as the cost of living has led to fewer people spending on eating out. Businesses had been struggling to bounce back after the pandemic, only to be hit with soaring energy bills and inflation. Multiple chains have been affected, resulting in big-name brands like Wetherspoons and Frankie & Benny's closing branches. Some chains have not survived. Byron Burger fell into administration last year, with owners saying it would result in the loss of over 200 jobs. Pizza giant Papa Johns is shutting down 43 of its stores soon. Tasty, the owner of Wildwood, said it will shut sites as part of major restructuring plans 2 Gusto serves up a selection of Italian favourites including PIzza and Pasta Credit: gustorestaurants / Instagram

How to stay and play at Donald Trump's brand new golf course in Scotland?

The 36-hole Trump International Golf Links resort in Aberdeenshire will open to the public next month. Donald Trump officially opened his new golf course in Aberdeenshire yesterday, Tuesday, July 2. The controversial US President paid tribute to the late Scottish actor Sean Connery and recalled the long-running planning disputes that once delayed the development. ‌ Speaking to guests on the first tee at Trump International Golf Links, the former US President praised Scotland's First Minister John Swinney, calling him a 'terrific guy' following a dinner the night before. ‌ Reflecting on the history of the site, Trump said: 'We started with a beautiful piece of land, but we made it much more beautiful. The area has really welcomed us. ‌ "But you'll remember at the beginning it wasn't quite a welcome... but it wasn't bad. But with time they've liked us more and more.' Trump also credited Connery with helping push the controversial project forward. He said: 'The land, they said, couldn't get zoned, it was an impossibility. "And Sean Connery said 'let the bloody bloke build his golf course'. Once he said that, everything came into line.' ‌ Now open for visitors, the luxury golf destination outside Aberdeen is accepting bookings for both accommodation and tee times. Where to stay Guests can stay at Trump MacLeod House & Lodge Hotel, located on the former Menie Estate near Balmedie. The five-star property is described as a traditional Scottish baronial mansion, set across 1,400 acres of coastal land. ‌ It features 19 luxury guest rooms, Italian marble staircases, traditional fireplaces, intimate dining and bar areas, a whisky bar, outdoor hot tub, spa facilities and hidden staircases. Personal butler service is available. The hotel is open for exclusive hire, weddings, corporate events or individual bookings. Prices for a house or lodge room in the week beginning Sunday, August 18, start from £628, depending on length of stay and availability. ‌ How to book tee times Golfers can book tee times on the property's two courses starting August 13. Prices are set at £495 per person per round. A 'Greatest 36' option, combining both courses, is available until October 31. Tee times are being allocated on a first-come, first-served basis during the opening months, and multiple levels of club membership are offered, though prices have not been disclosed. ‌ Golf packages and pricing For those looking to combine luxury stays with golf, a number of packages are now on offer. A two-night package, which includes two rounds of golf (one on each course), a welcome dinner, breakfast, and a dram of whisky, is priced at £2,500 per person or £4,000 for two people sharing. This offer is valid between August 25 and October 31, 2025. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. There is also a golf-and-stay-only option, which includes a one-night stay and a round of golf for £985 (single occupancy) or £697.50 per person (double occupancy). In the off-season months of November and December, the price drops to £460 per person, per night.
