‘Princess Bride' Actor Wallace Shawn Compares Israeli Treatment of Gaza to Nazi Germany
Shawn, who is Jewish, said on the Katie Halper Show that Israel is 'doing evil that is just as great as what the Nazis did.'

'The Israelis invaded somebody else's territory, they took people's homes and they did many of the things that the Nazis did to the Jews,' Shawn continued. 'You can't be more evil than what they're doing.'
Regarding the Nazi comparison, Shawn elaborated: 'In some ways it's worse, because they kind of boast about it. Hitler had the decency to try to keep it secret. For some reason, Hitler didn't want people to know he was doing these things to the Jews. The Israelis are almost proud of it, and it's demonically evil. It's — you can't be more evil. And anybody who doesn't recognize that it's evil, I can't, probably, communicate with that person. That might be temporary insanity.'
Elsewhere in the episode, Shawn reflected on the development of his leftist politics, saying he struggled with self-hate when first realizing that 'I was myself a character in the drama that was unfolding, I was one of the privileged people who benefited from the status quo on earth.' Since then, he said, while his distaste for the system has not faltered, 'I don't really hate anybody anymore.'
Later, he added, 'I can imagine that some Israelis who are today in support of what their country is doing in Gaza or in the West Bank, even some of them might in 10 years wake up and say, 'Why did I justify that?''
After his segment on the Nazis, he said, 'Of course, [Israelis] must consciously or unconsciously know that every single day they are making the hatred increase. And the hatred level is something we can't imagine.'
Shawn is known for his many roles on film and TV, including his voice acting in The Incredibles and the Toy Story franchise and on television in Young Sheldon. He frequently works with organizations such as Jewish Voice for Peace, which, per its website, is 'the largest progressive Jewish anti-Zionist organization in the world.'
The actor has long spoken out against Israel's treatment of Palestinian people, including in a 2014 op-ed for The Hollywood Reporter, when he wrote, 'Anyone who learns more about what has happened can't help but realize that the anger of the Palestinians cannot be ended by killing their children. That is a fantasy. Human beings simply aren't made that way.'

The film is a return to the big screen for Lohan, who has marked her Hollywood comeback with a series of Netflix films over the past few years. Looking forward, the star said she's 'doing a TV show with Hulu that I'm really excited about and I'd like to take on some more serious, dramatic roles. And I love doing romantic comedy because that's where my home is and I feel like where my fans want to see me, but I'd like to take on some things that are different; maybe find something that's an action-packed film. Just really show people a different side of me.' Also returning for the sequel is love interest Chad Michael Murray, who joked of Curtis and Lohan, 'I'll ride those girls' coattails anytime. I came in, and you never know what to expect, you're sitting there going, 'Oh God, let's not screw it up.' You're going to make a sequel and I hate to say it but it's as good, if not better — they delivered.' Also at the premiere, the film's fictional band Pink Slip surprised guests with a special performance prior to the screening, and Lohan was joined on the carpet by her Parent Trap co-stars Lisa Ann Walter and Elaine Hendrix. Anthony Mackie Jokes He's the 'White Dude Legend' After Multiple Co-Stars Earned Emmy and Oscar Nominations
Anthony Mackie reacted to being nominated for a guest actor in a comedy Emmy and joked that he has helped many of his former co-stars earn Emmy and Oscar nominations while working together. While appearing on the Wednesday episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host congratulated Mackie on getting two Emmy nominations. The Marvel star then shared how he learned about his nomination for his guest appearance on The Studio. I made Jeremy Renner famous. I made Bryan Cranston famous,' he jokingly said. 'I made now Ron Howard famous. I'm like, if you want to get nominated, I'm the dude. You know what I mean?' Mackie and Gosling starred in 2006's Half Nelson and the latter earned a best actor nomination at the Oscars. He also worked with Renner in 2008's The Hurt Locker, which earned him an Oscar nomination, and Cranston in 2016's All the Way, which the Breaking Bad alum earned an Emmys nod for. After Fallon joked that Mackie is the 'secret sauce' to help his co-stars get nominated, he responded, 'I am the secret sauce. I am the jelly in the donut, you know what I'm saying?' In addition to Mackie and Howard, fellow The Studio guest stars Cranston, Dave Franco and Martin Scorsese are also nominated for outstanding guest actor in a comedy category. Meanwhile, Jon Bernthal rounds out the category for his role in The Bear. Fallon noted that the nominees are 'stacked,' which led Mackie to admit that he was fine not winning. 'So the way I look at it, I'm very honored and proud to be nominated,' he said. 'But the reality of it is, I'm excited to be in second place.' Mackie continued, 'Because you know it's Ron Howard, and it's Scorsese. So, one of them is going to take it, but they're going to take votes from the other person. So, I'm going to be in second.' The audience broke out into laughter before Fallon asked, 'You don't want to win this?' 'Oh man, I don't care about no winning. Who cares about … winning is being nominated against Scorsese and Ron Howard … because one of them is going to have to say, 'Damn, I lost to Anthony Mackie,'' he joked. 'They're thinking about me. They're shaking.' Steve Buscemi Recalls Failed Audition for Barry Levinson's ‘Tin Men': 'There Was This Silence'
Steve Buscemi is known for many of his recognizable roles, but he was not able to secure a part in Barry Levinson's 1987 comedy Tin Men, the actor recalled on Wednesday's Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The host asked Buscemi if there were any roles he auditioned for that stung when he didn't secure them. I never knew, like, if I should wing it 'cause sometimes I'd be good if I went in the room and I didn't really prepare,' he said about his experience with auditions. 'And then the next time I'd do it, I would fail.' Buscemi then recalled his audition process for Levinson and said he knew he couldn't wing it. 'I studied the sides, the script and went in there and did my reading, did my audition and he looked at me and he went, 'That was really good, that's really good, Steve. All right, let's do it again,'' he said. 'He gave me a very specific note and I don't remember what that was.' The Wednesday actor explained that Levinson wanted him 'to add a different color to it or shading.' He continued, 'I went, 'OK.' And then I read it again, the exact same way I just did it.' 'There was this silence and we both just looked at each other,' Buscemi continued as the audience laughed. 'I think I even said, 'That was the same, wasn't it?' And he said, 'Yeah, it's OK, it's OK.' Needless to say, I did not get that part.' Another audition he recalled was with director Mike Nichols and casting director Juliet Taylor. Buscemi explained that he didn't want to audition because he already booked another job that had a conflict with the shooting schedule. However, his agent at the time encouraged him to go to the audition so he could meet Nichols and Taylor. 'I went in, I do the audition and they love it,' he said. 'They were laughing, they were like, 'That's great! Yeah, good.'' Following the positive responses from Nichols and Taylor, Buscemi asked when they were filming the project. He then told them that he wasn't available, and he was met with a memorable response. 'And again, this, like, silence,' he said. 'And I could see Juliet Taylor just looking at me going, 'What is wrong with you?'' Despite not securing some of the roles he auditioned for, Buscemi has been able to make a name for himself in both comedies and dramas. Some of his most notable movie roles include parts in Reservoir Dogs, Fargo and The Big Lebowski, while he also starred on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire.
