Positioned in the premium compact sedan segment, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe competes with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, Audi A3 Sedan, and Toyota Camry. BMW is offering the car exclusively with a petrol powertrain in India this time. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 156 hp and 230 Nm, with a claimed 0 to 100 kmph time of 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 230 kmph.
Compared to its predecessor, the second-generation model has increased slightly in size, being 20mm longer at 4546mm and 25mm taller at 1445mm, while preserving its Gran Coupe silhouette. A notable feature is BMW's illuminated Iconic Glow Kidney Grille, complemented by adaptive LED headlights and newly designed taillights with vertically aligned LED elements.
Other design details include M-specific styling elements such as large air intakes, high-gloss shadow line trim, a black rear diffuser, and standard 18-inch Y-spoke M light alloy wheels.
BMW has revised the suspension setup for this generation, aiming for improved ride quality on Indian roads while maintaining sporty handling. Ground clearance has been slightly increased, and modifications to the body structure are said to enhance chassis rigidity.
The vehicle also features a Sport Boost function that temporarily sharpens power delivery using the steering wheel paddle shifters. The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe now packs a new design as well as updated technology.
Inside, the vehicle boasts a fully redesigned cabin featuring BMW's latest Curved Display with iDrive 9 and QuickSelect menus. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and is paired with a 205-watt Harman Kardon sound system. The seats are upholstered in vegan Veganza material in Mocha or Oyster shades, reflecting BMW's efforts towards sustainable interiors.
Standard features include a panoramic sunroof, head-up display with augmented view, and ambient lighting with customisable Welcome and Goodbye animations.
Key features include the BMW Digital Key Plus, which enables unlocking via compatible smartphones or smartwatches and sharing access with up to 17 iOS users or 4 Android users. BMW Driving Assistant adds lane change warning, front and rear collision warning, while Parking Assistant Plus offers surround-view cameras and a reversing assistant that memorises the last 50 metres driven.
Standard safety features include DSC, cornering brake control, electric parking brake with auto hold, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
Available exterior colours include Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Portimao Blue Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, and Alpine White. The vehicle offers two interior upholstery shades: Veganza Perforated Mocha and Oyster.
BMW offers various service plans under Service Inclusive and Service Inclusive Plus, starting from 3 years/40,000 km, with warranty extensions available up to 10 years. Financing options through BMW Financial Services start at ₹ 35,000 per month, including guaranteed buyback schemes.

‘Baron of Westarctica', Ghaziabad fake diplomat was frequent flier to UK & Dubai
Ghaziabad: The 'baron of Westarctica' was a globetrotter, having travelled abroad 200 times and visiting 30 countries, STF's investigation into the man who ran a fake embassy in Ghaziabad for nine years has found. Harshvardhan Jain, who bestowed on himself fictitious titles from obscure micronations, installed flags to make his Kavi Nagar bungalow the impression of an embassy and had cars with diplomatic number plates parked on the compound, was a frequent flier to the UK and Dubai. The STF has found 25 shell companies registered by Jain and 10 foreign bank accounts in his name. A blue corner notice may be issued against Jain to understand more about his criminal activities abroad. Also under scanner are two PAN cards recovered during the raid on Jain's bungalow number KB-45 and bank accounts linked to these. Investigators said Jain had six bank accounts in Dubai (UAE), three in the UK and one each in Mauritius and India. More than Rs 23 lakh was deposited in his account at Punjab National Bank's Ghaziabad branch over the last two to three years, another senior officer said. The money was later transferred to other bank accounts. Cops are now probing the money trail and have sought details from the banks. Investigators found that three of the four cars with diplomatic registration plates recovered from the house are over 15 years old and were used for hawala operations. Earlier, cops told TOI that a Mercedes bearing diplomatic registration plates that read 'honorary consul baron Westarctica' found parked outside Jain's bungalow was owned by his father-in-law, Anand Jain. Another car with an 'honorary consigliere principato di Seborga' registration plate was jointly owned by Ghanshyam Jain of Ghaziabad and Amit Shukla of Hardoi. Two other cars seized from the house, both with diplomatic registration plates, are owned by Bhavesh Dugar of Delhi and another by Indra Business Private Limited, Delhi. Cops believe the lavish bungalow, morphed photographs with global leaders, high-end cars were all used as a ruse by Jain to cheat job seekers and businesses by offering fake overseas placements and deals, while also running a hawala network through shell firms. "He lived lavishly, hiring 4-5 bouncers for parties and over 10 when hosting influential business guests," a senior officer said. A diary recovered during the raid lists hundreds of names, contact details, and money-related entries. "We've prepared questions based on the diary and will question Jain once we get custody," the SP added. Two house helpers, Ishwar Singh and Hemant Kumar Rajvanshi, have been made witnesses in the case.

India And U.K. Achieved What No One Else Could – And It Starts With Scotch & Supercars
London/New Delhi: India and the United Kingdom signed a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Thursday (July 24) that is poised to reshape the economic contours of a historic relationship. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer standing shoulder to shoulder at the Chequers country estate, the two nations sealed a deal that cuts tariffs, opens markets and projects a shared ambition to double bilateral trade by 2030. Finalised after three years of negotiations and signed by Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and his UK counterpart Jonathan Reynolds, the deal aims to lift trade between the world's fifth- and sixth-largest economies by $34 billion annually. 'This agreement is a blueprint for shared prosperity,' said Modi, highlighting the breadth of sectors unlocked by the pact. From Scotch whisky to aerospace parts, from sarees to Jaguars, the trade corridors between India and the United Kingdom are now wide open. Scotch, Cars, Cosmetics – What Gets Cheaper The most visible win? A sharp slash in tariffs on Scotch whisky, one of Britain's proudest exports. Duties will drop immediately from 150% to 75% and will further fall to 40% over the next decade. 'This marks a great moment for both Scotch and Scotland,' said Nik Jhangiani, interim CEO of Diageo, adding, 'We will be raising a glass of Johnnie Walker to all those who worked so hard to get this done.' Cars are next in line. Tariffs on British-made vehicles will drop from as high as 110% to 10% within five years under a quota system, easing the path for brands like BMW, Nissan, Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover to expand their footprint in the Indian market. On the flip side, Indian automakers will now gain access to the U.K. market for electric and hybrid vehicles, again under a quota system. Other British products such as soft drinks, cosmetics, chocolates, biscuits and brandy will also see cheaper price tags in India. Tariffs on brandy and rum are being cut from 150% to 110% initially and to 75% over time. For Indian consumers, this means British luxury and FMCG products will be significantly more affordable. For British companies, India just became a far less taxing place to do business. Duty-Free Exports, Open Market Access, Job Growth – What India Gains Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal called the agreement 'a new era for inclusive and gender-equitable growth', pointing to duty-free access for 99% of Indian exports. That is worth nearly $23 billion in export opportunities, particularly for labour-intensive sectors. A Moneycontrol analysis shows that nearly one-third of India's exports to the UK could double by 2030. The gains will be steepest in: 1. Gems and Jewellery: Current U.K. imports from India stand at $941 million. The import duty drops from 4% to zero. 2. Engineering Goods: Exports valued at $4 billion to the United Kingdom will now expand due to elimination of 14% tariffs on electrical machinery. 3. Leather and Footwear: A complete phase-out of 16% duties is expected to increase India's market share by 5%. 4. Textiles, Tea and Spices: Already strong sectors that could leap into higher market-share brackets. 5. Marine Products: Face duties up to 20% currently, expected to become more competitive. 'This is a transformative agreement. It eliminates tariffs across critical sectors, boosts MSMEs and opens up nearly 100% of trade between the two economies,' said Agneshwar Sen, Trade Policy Leader at EY India. Presently small, toy exports are projected to hit $187 million by 2030. India's processed food sector, which currently faces duties as high as 70%, will see those tariffs eliminated altogether. People, Services and Strategic Footing The deal brings services, people and strategic cooperation into the mix. Indian professionals can now work in 35 U.K. sectors for 24 months, even without an office in Britain. Thirty-six service sectors are open to Indian firms and freelancers, without needing to pass the U.K.'s 'Economic Needs Test'. Indian workers on temporary postings will no longer pay into U.K. social security, saving thousands in deductions. British companies now gain access to India's procurement markets in clean energy and insurance. However, visas were not included in this round, and India was unable to secure relief from the U.K.'s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism – a policy that could lead to higher taxes on high-emission imports from 2027. Still, the Confederation of British Industry hailed the deal as 'a powerful signal in an era of rising protectionism', while the Confederation of Indian Industry called it 'a strong foundation for deeper market access'. A Template for the Future This is the UK's biggest trade deal post-Brexit, though its projected annual boost to British Gross Domestic Product (GDP), 4.8 billion British pounds by 2040, is modest compared to the 2.6 trillion pound size of its economy. For India, it marks a major leap forward. It is the country's most comprehensive trade pact with a developed economy and possibly a template for future agreements with the European Union (EU) and others. Pankaj Chadha of EEPC India summed it up like this, 'The India-U.K. FTA is a timely breakthrough. It energises our engineering sector, opens new global value chains and strengthens MSMEs.' As Modi left Chequers to meet King Charles, he carried a history and a future of economic ambition. And in both London and New Delhi, there was little doubt: this time, the handshake mattered. Hamilton, fed up with results at Ferrari, held meetings during summer break to demand improvements
No wins. Not even a podium finish. And virtually no hope of a championship. Lewis Hamilton is so fed up with his results at Ferrari midway through his first season with the team that he's taking matters into his hands. Hamilton revealed on Thursday, upon arriving at the Belgian Grand Prix, that he spent the summer break holding meetings with Ferrari's leaders to demand improvements and composed documents detailing areas he believes need to be addressed. Hamilton alluded to the mostly disappointing results for Ferrari over the last 20 years with world champions like Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, and Sebastian Vettel at the wheel. 'I refuse for that to be the case with me,' said Hamilton, who shares the F1 record of seven drivers' championships with Michael Schumacher. 'So, I'm going the extra mile … if you take the same path all the time, you get the same results. So, I'm just challenging certain things.' 'I've called on lots of meetings with the heads of the team,' Hamilton said at Spa-Francorchamps. 'I've sat with John (Elkann, Ferrari's president), Benedetto (Vigna, CEO), and Fred (Frederic Vasseur, team principal) in several meetings. 'I've sat with the head of our car development, with Loic (Serra, technical director), with also the heads of different departments talking about the engine for next year, talking about front suspension for next year, talking about rear suspension for next year. 'After the first few races, I did a full document for the team. And during this break, I had another two documents that I sent in. So, then I come in and want to address those,' Hamilton added, detailing 'structural adjustments that we need to make' and 'issues that I have with this car.' The 40-year-old Hamilton's best results with Ferrari have been three fourth-place finishes—two of them in the two races before the break. Teammate Charles Leclerc, who is in his seventh season with the team, has fared only slightly better with four podium finishes and a best result of second at his home Monaco GP. 'So, I feel that it's my job to challenge absolutely every area, to challenge everybody in the team, particularly the guys that are at the top who are making the decisions.' Ferrari is second in the constructors' standings but has less than half as many points as runaway leader McLaren, which has dominated with Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. 'I'm here to win. And I don't have as much time as this one here,' Hamilton said, gesturing toward 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli, who replaced him at Mercedes and was sitting next to the British driver at an F1 news conference.
