In her letter dated May 21, she said the area, which falls under her constituency, was grappling with poor roads, sanitation issues, visual pollution, and severe traffic violations—conditions she said were steadily worsening residents' quality of life. "The condition of internal roads near Medavakkam Junction, especially those connecting Jalladinpet, St John's School, and Perumbakkam, are in a dilapidated state," she wrote, noting large potholes, uneven surfaces, and eroded edges posed serious threats to motorists and pedestrians.
She flagged the stretch beneath the Medavakkam flyover as a major sanitation blackspot. "It has turned into an open dumping yard with mounds of garbage blocking the road, producing unbearable stench and obstructing movement," she said. The MP also pointed to heaps of illegally dumped construction materials and sand that were choking the road and footpaths, while metro-related dust and pollution were compounding health and visibility hazards.

Patna: The recent appointment of assistant professors across various disciplines—based on recommendations from the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC)—has left hundreds of long-serving guest faculty teachers in universities and colleges across the state in an uncertain position. Services of many of these teachers, who have been teaching for six to eight years, have not been renewed citing lack of vacancies, sparking widespread frustration and resentment among qualified youth. HC stays govt notice on creation of STF police stns
1 2 Kolkata: A division bench of Calcutta High Court's Jalpaiguri circuit bench has stayed a Bengal govt gazette notification announcing the creation of two Special Task Force (STF) police stations and tying them up with two existing courts in two parts of the state. The state had set up the designated police stations — one in north Bengal and the other in south — to register FIRs and investigate offences under special acts like Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Arms Act, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and Prevention of Money Laundering Act. "The entire scheme of BNSS has been sought to be frustrated, prima facie" by such a notification, said a bench of justices Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya and Uday Kumar, ordering an interim stay on it till Sept 15 or until further orders. Speaking at the college's Diamond Jubilee celebration, Fadnavis said it was a matter of pride that the Chief Justice of India, Justice Bhushan Gavai, could be part of the function at an institution co-founded by his late father, RS Gavai. "It's a meaningful coincidence — the son returning to the institution built by the father, now as the head of India's judiciary. We are proud of Justice Gavai, and this is a great moment for Nagpur.
