"Will Be Home For Dinner": Mumbai Doctor Calls Mom, Then Jumps Off Bridge
A 32-year-old doctor left the hospital, called his mother and told her he would be home for dinner, then parked his car on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and jumped off. Nearly two days on, the police and Coast Guard teams are searching for him, but without any success so far.
Dr Omkar Kavitke works with JJ Hospital. On July 7, he left the hospital in his car. He called his mother and told her that he was on his way home and would have dinner. However, around 9.43 pm, the police control room received information that a man had jumped off the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, which links Mumbai and Navi Mumbai and is popularly called Atal Setu.
When a police team reached the spot, they found a vacant car and an iPhone. They used the car number and details on the phone to confirm that they belong to Dr Kavitke.
Since then, the police and the Coast Guard have been looking for the doctor, but without success. Police have also appealed to the public to share any information they have about the matter.

A 14-year-old girl got up to use the bathroom in the main cabin. Thompson told her the first-class lavatory was open and walked her there. Before she went in, he said he needed to wash his hands and that the toilet seat was broken. After he left, she noticed red stickers under the lid that read 'INOPERATIVE CATERING EQUIPMENT' and 'REMOVE FROM SERVICE,' with 'SEAT BROKEN' written on one. She also found a phone recording with the flashlight on. She took a photo of the setup and went back to her seat. Thompson then went in and removed the phone. The girl showed the picture to her parents, who then complained to the flight crew and the captain. Prosecutors said, 'When confronted by the minor's father and other flight staff, Thompson locked himself in the lavatory with his iPhone and restored the device to factory settings – wiping all content from the phone.' When the plane landed in Boston, police searched Thompson's phone and luggage. They found 11 of the same red stickers in his bag. A deeper look into his iCloud account showed he had recorded four more girls, ages 7 to 14, on other flights. 'Each of the videos appeared to be taken in a similar fashion, in which Thompson attached his iPhone to a spot above a toilet seat,' prosecutors said. Associates allege drug abuse by Amritpal, says police chargesheet
Chandigarh: Two associates of Waris Punjab De chief and jailed Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh have claimed in their disclosure statements before the police that Amritpal was "hooked to drugs" in Punjab and "consumed them in Assam's Dibrugarh jail too". The statements of Bhagwant Singh, alias Pardhan Mantri Bajeke, and Varinder Singh Fauji, were recorded in police custody in March after they were brought to Punjab from Dibrugarh jail earlier this year to face trial in the Ajnala police station attack case. At least six cops were injured in the attack, in which Amritpal and his associates barged into the police station using Guru Granth Sahib as a "shield" to get one of their associates freed. On Feb 24, 2023, Amritpal and his associates were booked on attempted murder and several other charges. While Amritpal is lodged for the third year in running in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA), Bajeke and Fauji spent two years there. Vastrapur traders duped of Rs 26cr in phone deal
Ahmedabad: Two Ahmedabad-based mobile phone traders were cheated of Rs 26.34 crore between March and April after they placed a bulk order for iPhones with a Delhi-based supplier. A resident of Vastrapur filed a complaint with the detection of crime branch (DCB) on Thursday, stating that he and his business associate ordered 7,900 units of iPhone-15 and iPhone-16 from a Delhi-based firm. The total payment made was Rs 36.95 crore through official banking channels. According to the FIR, they received only 1,876 iPhones, worth Rs 12.16 crore, and a partial refund of Rs 1.6 crore. The remaining amount — Rs 26.34 crore — was not returned, nor were the pending phones delivered. The complaint states that the accused gave false assurances, shared shipment documents, and held video calls to show the legitimacy of the deal. Despite repeated follow-ups, the deliveries were not completed, and the traders began to suspect foul play. When the traders visited Delhi in April to inquire about the delay, the accused demanded an additional Rs 3 crore, claiming the earlier payment was short. Later, the complainants discovered that many documents were forged and that they were cheated. The accused reportedly stopped responding to calls and messages after this point. Police registered the case under sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), 318 (cheating), and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A DCB officer said further probe is underway.
