Gerik crash: Police await teacher's medical report over offensive remarks
IPOH: Police are still awaiting a full medical report from Seri Manjung Hospital on the health condition of a teacher who allegedly posted offensive remarks regarding the recent crash in Gerik that claimed the lives of 15 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said that, so far, they have been informed the teacher is still receiving treatment at the hospital.
"The police recorded the teacher's statement on June 16, and we have also seized his personal mobile phone to assist in the investigation.
"The investigation papers are nearly ready to be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor.
"We are only waiting for the medical report of the teacher, who is believed to be suffering from a psychiatric condition," he said at a press conference after attending the handover-of-duties ceremony for the state deputy police chief at the state Senior Police Officers' Mess here today.
On June 11, Manjung police chief ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman was reported as saying that police received a report regarding a social media post made from a Facebook account bearing the name ' Khalid Yunus '.
On June 16, he said that the case was being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Motorcyclist run over by trailer in highway crash
SEREMBAN: A motorcyclist was killed when he was run over by a trailer at KM254.6 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) heading north near here yesterday. Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the 51-year-old victim died at the scene from severe head injuries in the 4pm incident. "Initial investigations found that the victim was trying to avoid a four-wheel drive (4WD), driven by a 65-year-old man with a 54-year-old woman passenger, which had braked suddenly. "He swerved right and struck the 4WD's right side mirror before falling into the right lane and being run over by a trailer," he said in a statement today. Another motorcyclist riding behind the victim was unable to stop in time and also crashed into the 4WD. No injuries were reported involving the 4WD occupants, the second motorcyclist, or the trailer driver. The victim's body was sent to the Rembau Hospital Forensic Department for post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Seremban police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the 51-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene due to severe head injuries in the incident, which occurred at 4 pm. 'Initial investigations found that the victim was avoiding crashing into a four-wheel drive (4WD) Ford Ranger, driven by a 65-year-old man with a 54-year-old woman in the passenger seat, which suddenly braked. 'The victim, who was riding a BMW motorcycle, swerved to the right and hit the right rear-view mirror of the 4WD before falling into the right lane and being run over by the trailer,' he said in a statement here today. Mohamad Hatta said another motorcyclist, who was riding behind the victim, was unable to brake in time and also crashed into the 4WD. The 4WD driver and passenger, the second motorcyclist and the driver of the trailer did not suffer any injuries, he said. Businessman loses over RM930,000 to college scam
KUALA TERENGGANU: A businessman lost RM932,300 after falling victim to a bogus college procurement project in Kemaman. Kuala Terengganu OCPD Asst Comm Azli Mohd Noor said the 52-year-old victim received a WhatsApp message on May 28 from a man claiming to be a representative of the college. He said the suspect offered the victim a closed tender for the supply of portable generator sets. 'The victim made deposits totalling RM932,300 into two different bank accounts using company funds and personal savings. 'However, upon checking with the college, the victim discovered that no such tender had been offered,' ACP Azli said in a statement, Bernama reported. The victim lodged a police report at 11.53pm on Friday, and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
