Ex-Pakistan Foreign Minister Fact-Checked On Terrorist's Funeral Photo
Pakistan's former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar faced an awkward and embarrassing moment on live television when she was fact-checked on camera for trying to portray a globally sanctioned terrorist as a " common man". During an interview with Al Jazeera, Ms Khar tried to further Pakistan's claim that Hafiz Abdur Rauf, who led the funeral of terrorists killed in India's May 7 "Operation Sindoor," was just a common Pakistani man and not the infamous US-proscribed global terrorist.
"I am telling you, with authority, with evidence which has been shared with the whole world, that this is not the man that you (India) are claiming it to be. That this is not the man that you are claiming it to be. There are a million Abdul Raufs in Pakistan," the Pakistani politician said, showing the widely circulated image of Rauf at the funeral procession.
The interviewer interjected, noting that the Pakistan army, in a press conference after Operation Sindoor, did not say the image was fake.
"They said that he's a member of a political party, and they released his national ID number. That ID number is the same one as on the US sanctions list. So, according to the US sanctions terrorist list, this man is a terrorist," the journalist said.
"The Pakistani army is defending him."
Ms Khar tried to save face, saying, "The Pakistani army is defending this man (in viral photo). The Pakistani army is not defending the person who is proscribed by the US."
The interviewer reminded her that the national ID numbers of the US-proscribed terrorists and the man in the photo are the same.
The Pakistani politician replied, "The ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations of Pakistan Army) categorically has said that this is not the same person, and you just sat over here and told me that they just defended him and did not say it is not the same person."
Pakistan's False Claim On Abdur Rauf
As soon as the pictures of Rauf being present at the funerals went out, the Pakistani army tried to save face and called him a "common man." In the process, Pakistan's Director General of ISPR, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, claimed the person who had led the prayers of terrorists killed at the Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters in Mudrike, Pakistan's Punjab, during Operation Sindoor was a preacher and a member of the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) party with "three daughters, son."
He also outed crucial details of Rauf, including his national identity number, which matched details in the database of the US sanction list of terrorists.
During a press conference, Chaudhry mentioned that the man's Computerised National Identity Card number was 35202-5400413-9, while his date of birth was March 25, 1973, and that he was a resident of Lahore.
The identity details shared by DG ISPR completely matched the details of Hafiz Abdur Rauf, a member of LeT's senior leadership since at least 1999 and chief of Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation, who is on the United States' " Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list."

Per the US database, the number of addresses against Rauf, including 4 Lake Road; two Room No. 7 Choburji Dola Khurd; 129 Jinnah Block; 5-Chamberlain Road -- all in Pakistan's Lahore -- besides Awan Town, Multan Road, 33, Street No. 3, District Khanewal.
The OFAC database also gives his National ID No: NIC 277-93-113495, Pakistani passport CM1074131 that Pakistan issued on October 29, 2008, which expired in 2013 and another passport booklet: A7523531 also issued by Pakistan.

Parliament Monsoon Session: After a break of over three and a half months, both houses of Parliament—the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha—are scheduled to convene at 11 AM today for the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The session will be held from July 21 to August 21. This will be the first session of Parliament after Operation Sindoor – India's precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan in the aftermath of th Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists. The opposition INDIA bloc is ready to corner the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government on a host of issues. Opposition parties have insisted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should speak on Operation Sindoor and US President Donald Trump's repeated claims that he brokered peace between India and Pakistan. They have also demanded a discussion on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. As per the official agenda, the Parliament will table 15 bills throughout the session, including discussing the Demands for Grants (Manipur) for the year 2025-26 and introduction, consideration and passing/return of the related Appropriation Bill. Additionally, a resolution seeking the approval of extension of President's rule in Manipur will also be tabled in the session. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union government has listed eight new Bills to be introduced in this session, in addition to taking up seven pending bills that were introduced earlier. The government's top agenda item is the Income-Tax Bill, 2025, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha during the Budget Session of Parliameno on February 13 before being referred to a select committee led by BJP MP Baijayant 'Jay' Panda. The Billwas unanimously adopted by the committee on July Panel had made 285 suggestions to the draft legislation. The 3,709-pages long draft law will be presented to the Lok Sabha, on Monday (July 21), on the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament, according to a PTI report. Among the other bills listed for consideration is the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which aims to align the state GST law with the central legislation. Another key bill is the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025, which seeks to promote ease of doing business and improve regulatory compliance. The government has also listed a resolution for the extension of President's Rule in Manipur, imposed on February 13, 2025. Congress Rift Widens As Party Leader Says ‘Shashi Tharoor Not With Us, Not Invited'
Amid rising tensions within the Congress party, senior leader and former Union Minister K. Muraleedharan on Sunday declared that Shashi Tharoor would no longer be invited to any party programme in Thiruvananthapuram unless he alters his stance on key national security issues. His remarks have further exposed the widening rift between Tharoor and the party's Kerala leadership. Speaking to reporters, Muraleedharan said, 'Till he (Tharoor) changes his stance, we will not invite him to any party programme held in Thiruvananthapuram. 'We must always put the country first. Political parties exist to make countries better,' he said. Tharoor's position — including expressions of support for the armed forces and the central government on national security — has drawn sharp criticism from within his own party. 'Many have attacked me for putting the nation first. But I will stand my ground because I believe this is the right thing to do for the country,' Tharoor asserted, defending his stand. However, his remarks have not gone down well with senior Congress leaders, including Muraleedharan, who recently criticised Tharoor for sharing a survey that projected him as the most preferred Chief Ministerial face of the UDF. 'He should first decide which party he belongs to,' Muraleedharan retorted. Adding to the tensions, Tharoor's recent article criticising the late Indira Gandhi's handling of the Emergency in a Malayalam daily had also sparked backlash within party ranks. Calling for clarity, Muraleedharan said, 'If he feels constrained within the Congress, he should choose a clear political path.' The feud has now become a full-blown internal crisis, raising questions about Tharoor's future in the party and further complicating Congress's unity efforts in Kerala ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

Parliament Monsoon Session to begin today on a stormy note. Here's what to expect
The session will run until Aigust 21. Both the Houses will, however, be adjourned on August 12, 2025, to reassemble on August 18, 2025, to facilitate Independence Day Celebrations. The Session will provide a total of 21 sittings spread over a period of 32 days. Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said on Sunday that tentatively 17 items of legislative and other business have been identified for being taken up during this session. Rijiju said that the Union government is open to discussing all issues in Parliament, including Operation Sindoor. He, however, said that any debate on the subject has to be held within the laid-down rules and procedures. Opposition parties have insisted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should respond on Operation Sindoor, as well as on US President Donald Trump's repeated claims that he brokered peace between India and Pakistan. They also demanded a discussion on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Rijiju, however, made it clear that the final call on discussions in Parliament will be taken by the Business Advisory Committees of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
