Woman, 79, killed in collision while riding e-bike on Bribie Island
The woman and a Ford Falcon were both travelling east on Goodwin Drive in Bongaree when they collided at about 8.30am on Monday, police said.
The 79-year-old woman from Banksia Beach, who was riding the e-bike, died at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the Ford was not injured in the collision.
The Forensic Crash Unit have launched an investigation into the incident.

Byron Bay safe despite alleged assaults, police say
Police are assuring residents and tourists that Byron Bay is safe despite recent violent incidents. Two homeless men were allegedly involved in a fight metres away from a Jonson Street cafe filled with people at about 9:30am on Tuesday. Tweed -Byron Police crime manager Matt Zimmer said several onlookers rushed in and restrained a 38-year-old man who was allegedly using a softball-sized rock to bash the head of a 28-year-old man. He said that according to witnesses the alleged attack continued after the younger man became motionless. "This was quite a confronting scene in a very busy area and I want to acknowledge those members of the community who very bravely risked their own safety in front of their own families," Detective Inspector Zimmer said. He said those who intervened likely saved the man's life. Inspector Zimmer said police were hoping to speak with the alleged victim, who regained consciousness on Wednesday afternoon after being put in an induced coma at Gold Coast University Hospital. He said the alleged attacker remained under police guard at Tweed Valley Hospital with minor injuries and would most likely be facing charges once he was released. It is the second serious incident in the northern NSW town in the last three weeks. A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after he was attacked in a car park behind the main street shops early on June 21. A witness told the ABC she saw a six young men carry out the attack. Police said the investigation was ongoing and that no charges had been laid. The victim of the attack has been recovering in hospital and was due to undergo surgery today. Detective Inspector Zimmer said the two assaults were unrelated and had no bearing on the safety of Byron Bay as a whole. "These are isolated incidents, so in terms of general community safety it has no impact of the general community," he said. After the June assault Byron Shire Mayor Sarah Ndiaye said the council would conduct an audit on areas of concern. "Unfortunately Byron has always had a bit of an underbelly in that sense, where we do have a higher rate than we should, or want to, of assaults," she said. Federal Member for Richmond Justine Elliot has promised $1 million each for the Byron, Tweed and Ballina shires to spend on security measures. Cr Ndiaye said she wanted part of the funding to spent on lighting and cameras in the car park where the assault occurred.

Mother accused of murdering baby boy in Perth named
A mother accused of murdering her seven-month-old baby boy in a Perth home has been named. Jacinta Beth Sells, 31, is charged with murdering her son early Monday morning, in what police allege is a domestic violence homicide. Police and paramedics were called to the Balcatta residence about 3am following reports a child had been seriously injured. The infant was found with suspected stab wounds and was declared dead at the scene. WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said police will allege the death is a family violence incident, with family members present at the time. 'There was a male, a female and a young person,' he said. 'This is a trauma that no one will ever recover from, the family are deeply affected.' Mr Blanch said first responders arrived to a 'horrific' crime scene. 'There would be very few cases where you would have a crime scene of such a horrific nature for our officers and for first responders involved,' he said. 'It's something that will most likely haunt them for the rest of their careers.' Ms Sells appeared in court in Perth on Wednesday. She did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody. She is scheduled to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court in August.

The police officer who took the Falconio call
The killer of British backpacker Peter Falconio has died. Bradley John Murdoch died in palliative care, serving a life sentence for the 2001 murder. It was an event that changed the town of Alice Springs forever. Erica Gibson was a shift sergeant working at the local police station 24 years ago when the call came in from Peter's partner, Joanne Lees. Gibson says while she understood the seriousness of the call, she could never have foreseen the gravity of the event over the next two and a half decades.
