Centre plotting against K-P govt: CM
Addressing the K-P Assembly, Gandapur said that the events of May 9 were merely used as a pretext for launching a full-blown assault on the PTI. "All forces have been bent on eliminating the party and its leader," he alleged, adding that those who abandoned the incarcerated party chairman were nothing short of "cowards and dishonourable".
He went on to accuse the federal government of conspiring to topple the K-P government through the imposition of a financial emergency. However, he warned that the province would not allow such schemes to succeed.
He shared that the parliamentary party and political committee have granted his government approval to pass the provincial budget, adding that it will implement changes in the budget without delay upon Imran's directives.
Gandapur also accused the establishment of orchestrating PTI's ouster from power through a carefully crafted conspiracy. He lamented that constitutional provisions were violated and elections were deliberately delayed to sabotage the party's position.
"Before the February 8 general elections, our chairman was arrested, and the party was deprived of its electoral symbol," the chief minister said. "Despite all these political injustices, the public handed us a clear mandate, but that mandate was stolen in the Centre and in three provinces."
Commenting on the financial crisis his government inherited, Gandapur noted that the provincial treasury contained barely enough funds to pay 15 days of salaries when his government took over.
However, through sound fiscal policies, the province's revenue has now surpassed Rs93 billion, and is projected to reach Rs129 billion in the next fiscal year.
The chief minister further revealed that Rs150 billion in cash reserves remain in the province's debt servicing account, generating Rs60 million in daily income. The throw-forward liability of K-P has been reduced from 13 years to just over five years, he added.
"Those who hold sway over the country left no stone unturned in pushing this province towards insolvency and chaos," Gandapur claimed.
He said that despite their best efforts, they had not been allowed to meet Imran Khan, and alleged that the budget approval process was being obstructed to pave the way for a federal takeover of provincial authority under the guise of a financial emergency.
"We will never let this conspiracy succeed," he said. "The provincial budget is being passed as per the PTI's parliamentary and political committee's decision, but if the chairman wants anything added or removed, it will be done immediately."

A surge in prices of perishable commodities in the province has persisted for the fifth consecutive week, coupled with widespread overcharging that has pushed everyday vegetables out of reach for the average consumer. Tomatoes saw another increase of Rs5 per kg, officially set at Rs86-95 but sold at Rs150-160. B-grade was fixed at Rs75-80 and C-grade at Rs70-75, while mixed quality tomatoes went for Rs120-130. Only one variety of apple was fixed at Rs150-225 but sold at Rs200-350. A-category bananas rose Rs5 per dozen to Rs 92-215 but were sold at Rs 250-300. B-category bananas were fixed at Rs 34-150, sold at Rs200-230, while C-category was fixed at Rs90-100 but sold at Rs150-180. Dates increased by Rs10 to Rs460-490 but sold between Rs900 and Rs2,000. Papaya dropped Rs55 to Rs305-320 but wasn't available in the market. Cantaloupe declined by Rs20 to Rs134-140 but sold at Rs150-200. Peach fell by Rs35, fixed at Rs180-275 but sold at Rs250-400. Mangoes of various types were fixed at Rs150-260 but sold at Rs200-400. Cherry boxes remained at Rs380-400 but weren't available.

PM condemns terrorist attack on civilians in Tirah

He has summoned a jirga of tribal elders and public representatives to Peshawar to hear their concerns and strengthen ties between the government and local communities. Gandapur also directed district officials to increase engagement with residents and maintain peace and order. He said jirgas would be held at divisional and provincial levels from next week to address public issues more effectively. Separately, the Inspector General Frontier Corps (North) visited the injured at the FC Brigade Hospital, while Major General Rao Imran Sartaj met survivors at the Frontier Corps Teaching Hospital. The injured recounted the incident and thanked the FC and army teams for the free and timely medical care.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday stated there should be no misconception Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who's imprisoned in US, is Pakistan's daughter and a priority for the government. Addressing the Pakistani community in New York, Dar said that efforts to resolve Aafia's case will continue until a solution is found. He said this in response to the social media reaction on his earlier statement regarding the incarcerated Pakistani neuroscientist. Addressing an event in Washington on Friday, responding to a query about imprisonment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Dar had made comparison between incarceration of Imran and Aafia. He had said if 'due process of the law has resulted in that action [arrest of Aafia],' then the same applies to Imran. 'There's no exception.' 'Legal due process has no exceptions', Dar compares Aafia, Imran's arrests Here in New York when Dar clarified that he was asked about Imran, upon which, he said when the government raises the issue of Aafia's release with the US, it is told that the legal process does not allow for it. 'Our government's stance on the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqui's release is clear and unequivocal,' he had said in a post on X. The deputy prime minister further stated that the government had also written a letter to former US president Joe Biden on the issue of Aafia, and even sought clemency for her from Biden before he left the office. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met her sister two days ago to assure full support, he said, adding that Pakistan has made every effort to secure the release of Aafia Siddiqui. Dar said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has always supported the release of Aafia, providing all diplomatic and judicial support for her release. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif also spoke to former US president Barack Obama in this regard, he said, adding that the government made immense efforts to secure Aafia's release in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and it continued to do so.
