To raise their son's spirits, parents cut a cake to celebrate his failure on the Class 10 exam.
The most common stories that surface whenever the results of board exams are revealed are those of students who ace their papers and the secret to their success. On the other hand, here is a tale of parents who are happy that their son failed the Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) or Class 10 exams. Yes, you read that right! Abhishek Cholachagudda, 17, a student of Bagalkot, Karnataka's Basaveshwar English Medium School, secured 200 out of 600 on his Class 10 board exams, failing all six subjects. Even though his friends made fun of him for only getting 32 per cent, Abhishek's father, Yellappa Cholachagudda, chose to honour his son's success by cutting cakes.
'When Abhishek was one year old, he sustained severe burn injuries on his feet. It took him to a shock and he lost his memory. Since then, his memory levels have been very low. It is indeed an achievement that he has studied till Class 10," Abhishek's father, who owns a small business, told the media as quoted by The Indian Express.
'My son has failed in examinations, but not in life. I am very happy that he has secured 200 marks. I wanted to give him a message that the entire family is with him," he added.
'I decided to celebrate and bought two cakes which mentioned his score. We are happy. I see a lot of graduates sitting at home without a job or work. But my son is strong and is willing to fight, which means a lot," Abhishek's father also stated.
Abhishek expressed his gratitude to his family for providing 'strong support." 'I will appear for examinations again. Even if I fail, I will not stop until I achieve something in my life," Abhishek told the news agency PTI.
Last Friday, the SSLC Exam-1 results were declared by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB). The percentage of students who passed the SSLC exam this year was 62.34 per cent, a 9 per cent increase over the previous year. During this academic year, 8,96,447 students—4,61,563 boys and 4,34,884 girls—appeared for the SSLC exams.
Many students received full marks, including two from Karnataka government schools, and 75 per cent of them received first-class status by receiving more than 60% of the possible points.

UK engineering team departs after F-35B jet resumes service

Agency: Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 23 (PTI) A 17-member UK engineering team, deployed here since July 6 to carry out repairs and safety checks on the F-35B fighter jet, returned on Wednesday night, a day after the aircraft resumed active service. A source said the UK Air Force personnel had returned after expressing gratitude to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport for providing full assistance — from the emergency landing of the British F-35B aircraft to its departure once the issues were resolved. A UK Royal Air Force Flight Lieutenant personally visited and thanked the airport authorities. He also presented a memento from the Royal Air Force, the source said. The 17-member team departed at around 9.30 pm in a Royal Air Force A400 aircraft, the source added. The British F-35B fighter jet flew back on Tuesday after completing maintenance — more than a month after it made an emergency landing at the international airport here and remained parked since. The jet, which took off at 10.50 am on Tuesday, flew to Darwin, Australia. PTI TGB ROH Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Chandrasekhar Azads pistol BamtooL Bukhara displayed in Allahabad Museum

Last Updated: Prayagraj, Jul 23 (PTI) On the 119th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Chandrasekhar Azad, his pistol — Bamtul Bukhara — was displayed for the public at the Allahabad Museum on Wednesday. Allahabad Museum Director Dr. Rajesh Mishra said that the original pistol was exhibited for the public after nearly 22 months. Due to the lack of proper security arrangements, a replica of the pistol is usually placed in the 'Azad Gallery' of the museum. 'The original pistol requires Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) protection. A request has already been sent to the Ministry in this regard," Mishra said, adding that the pistol is currently kept in a secure location within the museum. Floral tributes were also offered at the statue of Chandrasekhar Azad as part of the observance. On the occasion, historian Professor Yogeshwar Tiwari highlighted Azad's significant role in India's freedom struggle. PTI RAJ KIS NB NB Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
