'You could buy every bike shed in Ireland' -- Internet goes wild over Irish EuroMillions win
While a lucky Wexford player woke up €500,000 richer this morning after winning the Plus top prize, the search is well and truly on for the punter who bagged the huge jackpot.
No official announcement has been made yet by the National Lottery, but the lucky numbers were 13, 22, 23, 44, 49, with lucky star numbers of 3 and 5. Pic: Derick P. Hudson/Shutterstock.
There is some speculation that a shop in Stepaside, Dublin, sold the life-changing ticket, with a staff member telling EVOKE: 'I believe so, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. We haven't been contacted officially, but we have received lots of calls saying that the ticket was won here.'
If you're the guy / gal who wont the € 250 million on the Euromillions , you could buy every bike shed in Ireland and still have enough left over to pay your next energy bill — Urlofcork (@urlofcork) June 17, 2025
Nothing is official just yet, and the internet has been going mad with reactions to the unbelievable win.

Irish users rushed to X to have their say, with one person writing: 'Everyone in Ireland should ring in sick tomorrow for the craic.' @simon_murdoch #euromillions #ireland #irishtiktok #lottery #win #cork ♬ original sound – Simon Murdoch
Another posted: 'Someone winning 250 million in the EuroMillions in Ireland just as WW3 is about to unleash is some Father Ted/Black Mirror b******t.'

And a third person joked: 'If you're the guy/gal who won the €250 million on the Euromillions, you could buy every bike shed in Ireland and still have enough left over to pay your next energy bill.'
Whoever won the Euromillions in Ireland today…. That was mine….. — Colm Smyth (@colmsmyth) June 17, 2025
Prior to Tuesday's draw, the biggest jackpot ever won in Ireland was a jaw-dropping €175.4 million, claimed by a family syndicate from Naul, Dublin in February, 2019.

That win eclipsed the previous top prize of €115 million won by Dolores McNamara from Limerick in July 2005.

THE HISTORY OF DUNNES STORES DUNNES Stores opened its first store on Patrick Street in Cork in 1944 - and it was an instant hit. Shoppers from all over the city rushed to the store to snap up quality clothing at pre-war prices in Ireland's first 'shopping frenzy'. During the excitement, a window was forced in and the police had to be called to help control the crowds hoping to bag founder Ben Dunne's 'Better Value' bargains. Dunnes later opened more stores in the 1950s and began to sell groceries in 1960 - starting with apples and oranges. The retailer said: "Fruit was expensive at the time and Ben Dunne yet again offered Better Value than anyone else in town. "Over time, our food selection has grown and that spirit of good value has remained strong. "Now we offer a wide range of carefully-sourced foods from both local Irish suppliers and overseas." The retailer's first Dublin store opened its doors in 1957 on Henry Street and a super store on South Great Georges Street was unveiled in 1960. They added: "In 1971, our first Northern Irish store opened, and many others soon followed. "Expansion continued in the 1980s in Spain, and later into Scotland and England." Dunnes now has 142 stores and employs 15,000 people. 4 Shoppers can choose from three styles Credit: 4 The cute set is available in Dunnes Stores Credit: Garrett White - Commissioned by The Sun Dublin Advertisement
