Sule-led delegation arrives in Egypt to convey India's stance on terrorism
The delegation arrived in Cairo after concluding their visit to Ethiopia on Sunday, Suresh Reddy, India's Ambassador to Egypt, received the delegation.
The delegation has a packed and productive schedule in Egypt, including Ministerial engagements, Parliamentary exchanges, interactions with think tanks, media, the Indian community and others.
It is one of the seven multi-party delegations India has tasked to visit 33 global capitals to reach out to the international community to emphasise Pakistan's links to terrorism.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam terror attack, with India carrying out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7.
Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. The Indian side responded strongly to the Pakistani actions.
The on-ground hostilities ended with an understanding of stopping the military actions following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10.

Last Updated: Restrictions were imposed earlier this year during India's Operation Sindoor counter-terror campaign. Some Pakistani news websites and social media accounts of Pakistani celebrities which were banned during India's counter-terror operation Operation Sindoor have resurfaced on social media. It is unclear if those restrictions have been lifted or not as there is no official announcement lifting the ban by the government. However, government sources speaking to News18 said that 'following a periodic review, some social media accounts have been reinstated" but majority of the handles remain blocked. The government sources pointed out that some '14,000 accounts on some social still remain banned". They further added: 'Upon the review, it has been observed that some of these platforms which have been reinstated have not spoken anti India language for a while, which was the main reason for blocking them". The sources said: 'Accounts cannot be permanently banned and are subject to regular reviews as part of the standard process". The ban, part of India's Operation Sindoor counter-terror effort, targeted major Pakistani media outlets including Dawn News, Geo News, ARY News, Bol News, Samaa TV, GNN, Suno News HD and The Pakistan Reference, among others. Together, these channels accounted for an estimated 63 million subscribers. The crackdown also extended to sports and entertainment channels such as Samaa Sports, Uzair Cricket and Hum TV, as well as individual journalists and content creators. Pakistan public and sports-related personalities whose accounts faced ban included Umar Cheema, Asma Shirazi, Muneeb Farooq, Irshad Bhatti, Razi Naama, Wasay Habib, Arzoo Kazmi, Syed Muzammil Shah and former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar. Several of them also faced restrictions on platforms like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), as the ban widened in early May 2025. The restrictions were imposed amid cross-border information warfare and attempts by these Pakistani social media cells to manipulate Indian public sentiment. A notable example of Pakistani cricketers and celebs spreading misinformation was that of Shahid Afridi, who criticised the people of India and the Indian Army. LS speaker to inaugurate two-day urban local bodies conference
Two-day national level conference on the theme 'The strong role of urban local bodies in constitutional democracy and nation building', will begin on Thursday at the international centre for automotive technology (ICAT) in Gurugram's Manesar. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla (File) The objective of the event is to make urban governance more effective, inclusive, and innovation-driven, thereby contributing to the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047'. The Haryana government said that arrangements for the successful hosting of the event have been completed and that the state is fully prepared to extend a grand welcome to delegates from across the country. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla will inaugurate the conference on Thursday, while the closing session will be attended by deputy chairman, Rajya Sabha, Harivansh, and Haryana governor Bandaru Dattatraya. Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union minister for housing and urban affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, and Haryana's urban local bodies minister Vipul Goel will attend the inaugural session. Mayors, commissioners, and other representatives from municipal corporations from across the country will participate in the conference. On the first day of the conference, best practices adopted by leading Indian cities- Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Indore, Lucknow, Pune, Surat, and Visakhapatnam, will be presented. Following this, five workshops will be held on different sub-themes, including, the role of urban local bodies as the foundation of democracy, developing ideal practices and codes of conduct for council meetings, local bodies as engines of inclusive development, strengthening municipal governance, innovation hubs to improve citizen quality of life and public service delivery, empowering women, preparing them for leadership roles in society and politics as builders of 21st century India. There will be group presentations on sub-themes, an informal dialogue with the Lok Sabha speaker, and a concluding session, on Friday. The spokesperson said that this conference will not only define the future direction of urban governance in India but also strengthen the country's democratic and developmental journey.
