Hosts Pearl Mackie, Emma Sidi and Kiell Smith-Bynoe claim to be 'reinvestigating' the infamous 1907 'Camden Town Murder' – via 'reimagining key moments' (read: inventing dialogue) with hammy accents. True crime can feel exploitative, and given that a real person – 22-year-old Emily Dimmock – died in this case, not all listeners will find an attempt to turn it into chucklesome light entertainment to be in the best taste. Viewers lash out at 'boring' Logies ceremony amid rumours the awards night is 'on its last legs'

The Logie Awards got off to a glamorous start on Sunday night. But not everyone watching the telecast was impressed, with many viewers lashing out at the 'boring' awards show. Several people took to X to slam the annual ceremony and claim the Logies simply isn't relevant any more. 'No better confirmation that free to air TV is dying than the #Logies - a mixture of yesterday's celebrities and nobodies talking about themselves,' one person wrote. 'It's quaint how they still have the Logies - a dying medium celebrating mediocrity #Logies,' another said. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. A third commented: 'Dear Aussie media, no one gives a flying f*** about the Logies, regards, the Australian public.' 'Are the Logies even relevant anymore?' another questioned while one said: 'Geez the Logies have become so irrelevant.' 'In fairness the Logies are an embarrassment and have been for at least 30 years... Did you see the nominees for awards this year? Not a shred of talent to be seen,' one wrote. Another added: 'Sometimes I get mad about how much I pay for streaming services but then remember I don't have to endure torturous broadcasts like tonight's #Logies.' It comes after Daily Mail revealed the Logie Awards might not be back next year - or ever. A very high-level TV insider has revealed 'they're quietly rolling up the red carpet'. 'It's just not viable anymore. No one wants to pay for it, no one's watching, and the people behind it are already looking for an exit,' said the source. That 'exit' is apparently the upcoming fire sale of mags at Are Media - which owns TV Week and the Logies brand. The private equity firm backing Are Media, Mercury Capital, wants out after five years of underwhelming returns. The Logies red carpet used to host the likes of Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, One Direction, Ricky Martin and even Destiny's Child. 'You remember when the Logies had international stars, outrageous moments, drama?' said the insider. 'Now it's a glorified promo reel for local TV. It's like the Bogan Oscars. The big acts are gone - and so is the audience. 'It's Karl Stefanovic, Sonia Kruger, Hamish Blake - rinse and repeat. Boring! The audience is tired, the talent's recycled, and the networks aren't throwing cash at Logies campaigns like they used to.' The ratings have also plummeted as Seven - which reclaimed the Logies broadcast in 2023 after 28 years with Nine - has seen a 20 per cent drop in digital audience. 'Seven thought they were buying back a national treasure. What they got was a very expensive nostalgia trip,' the insider added.

Celebrity SAS chaos as two stars quit during first episode of new series

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins has turned to chaos as two stars quit during the very first episode of the new series, following a gruelling challenge Chaos erupted on the opening episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins as two contestants quit during the first episode of the new series. The Channel 4 military reality show returned Sunday night but the high-stakes challenge quickly proved too much for some. ‌ This year's lineup features 14 famous faces including Love Island stars Chloe Burrows, Tasha Ghouri and Adam Collard, X-Factor singer Lucy Spraggan and ex-drug mule Michaella McCollum, among others. The group was pushed to their limits by instructors Mark 'Billy' Billingham, Jason 'Foxy' Fox, Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver. ‌ From the outset, the recruits were plunged into high-pressure situations. One of the first challenges saw them hooded and lined up on a breakwater, where chief instructor Billy demanded their identities - while he snapped at several contestants warning them not to 'grin' at him. ‌ What followed were two intense tasks: a 26-foot plunge into the sea followed by a swim to an intercepting boat and a simulated hostage rescue mission in an abandoned compound, described as one of the most dangerous tests on the course. Pop star Hannah Spearritt, 44, best known for her time in S Club 7, was visibly distressed during the rescue mission. She approached the directing staff and handed in her number tag, saying: "I'm done, I'm sorry, I've reached a point." ‌ In a pre-recorded interview played after her exit, Spearritt admitted: "I didn't think I'd go on the first day… I wouldn't forgive myself." ‌ Spearritt wasn't the only celeb to give up during the first task, as Louis Spence, best known for his appearance on Pineapple Dance Studio also chose to withdraw. During the same hostage task, Spence prematurely threw a grenade into the building while two "hostages" were still inside. After the mission, he told the staff he wished to leave, despite being offered the chance to stay. Spence said: "I want to do an immediate withdrawal, I just don't have the conviction, and I feel as though I'm not dedicated enough." ‌ He was told that he "hadn't even started", but Spence replied "that's what I mean." The episode also featured tense moments for other recruits. Former model Rebecca Loos was pulled in for interrogation after struggling in the water-based challenge. During the intense questioning, she was asked about her alleged affair with footballer David Beckham, whom she once worked for as a personal assistant. ‌ Before the first task, RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Bimini Bon Boulash claimed the experience would be "a piece of p**s" after growing up as a queer person in Norfolk. Later, ex-Watford striker Troy Deeney was questioned by directing staff after successfully completing the hostage task. In an emotional moment, he opened up about the physical abuse he and his mother suffered at the hands of his late father. Unlike other reality shows, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins doesn't eliminate contestants through votes. Instead, participants either quit of their own accord or are removed by the directing staff. Those who endure to the end are declared the winners.

Lions star's wife gives birth in back of a car hours before Australia Test

Lions star's wife gives birth in back of a car hours before Australia Test Lions and Ireland star Bundee Aki says his wife called him from a car on the way to hospital hours before he faced the Wallabies Bundee Aki (centre) says he is looking forward to meeting his new-born child (Image:) Lions centre Bundee Aki has revealed that his wife gave birth on the day of the first Test in Brisbane - with the Ireland international yet to meet his new-born daughter. ‌ Aki, who featured in all three Tests for the British and Irish Lions here in Australia, was on the bench for the first Test in Brisbane. However, following the third Test defeat in Sydney, Aki revealed that he recently welcomed a fifth child - although he's yet to see his newest daughter. ‌ "I want to enjoy my break, my family time," said the 35-year-old as he reflected on the end of a long Lions tour. "I haven't seen my family for eight weeks. ‌ "I have a new-born child who I haven't met yet. She was born when we were playing in Brisbane, so I haven't met her. "Her name is Aine, so I'm looking forward to going and meeting my new-born child and we'll go from there." Aki and his wife have a simple theme when it comes to naming their children, with Aine joining Armani-Jade, Adrianna, Andronicus and Ailbhe. Article continues below "All my kids start with A," he added. "So my wife loved the name Aine. That's five As in the family." When asked if it had been difficult not seeing his new-born daughter and the rest of his family, Aki ultimately told the remarkable story of how his wife gave birth in New Zealand on the same day he was facing the Wallabies. Sign up to Inside Welsh rugby on Substack to get exclusive news stories and insight from behind the scenes in Welsh rugby. "Credit to my wife," he said. "She's a powerful woman, a strong woman. ‌ "I have to say it to her. If you only knew the story of what happened, it's a funny story in itself. It was a good day. "I was in the hotel. I knew we were overdue. The missus calls me and she's like, 'Water hasn't broke but I'm going to the hospital, I'm feeling contractions.' "I go, 'Yeah, fair enough.' She goes to the hospital, we're getting ready for the team meeting pre-match, and then she calls me and says she's on the way to the hospital, so I said, 'Fine, be safe.' ‌ "Five minutes later, she sends a photo, her water broke. I was like, 'Cool, OK, are you almost there?' This is like 30 or 40 minutes away from the hospital, so I said, 'You'll be all right, Mum is there.' "Ten minutes later, she video calls me and I was like, 'S**t, what's going on?' I saw a baby on the video call, so she had it in the car on the way to the hospital. They're both strong and healthy, so happy days. "In New Zealand, yeah. So happy days." Article continues below Given the nature of the day, it might have been difficult for Aki to focus on the rugby, but the centre admitted he had no issue getting on with the task of taking on Australia at Suncorp Stadium. "I knew it was good Juju, I knew it was good Juju," he said. "So I knew we were going to have a good day."
