West Indies Announce Test Squad – Huge Comeback and a Major Omission!
Hope, who last played a Test in 2021 in Sri Lanka, joins a squad that sees a mix of experience and fresh faces. Young batter Kevlon Anderson has earned his maiden call-up, while Brandon King has also been included to bolster the batting lineup against Australia's formidable pace attack.
Head coach Daren Sammy emphasised King's selection as part of a strategic plan to strengthen the team. However, veteran pacer Kemar Roach has been left out, with fast-bowling responsibilities now resting on Jayden Seales, Alzarri Joseph, and Shamar Joseph. Roston Chase will lead the side.
'I believe in this group of players,' said Sammy. 'We want to make our home grounds a fortress and need our passionate fans behind us. The road will be tough, but we're ready for the challenge.'
Squad: Roston Chase (captain), Jomel Warrican, Kevlon Anderson, Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Keacy Carty, Justin Greaves, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Johann Layne, Mikyle Louis, Anderson Phillip, Jayden Seales (Reporting by Amlan Chakraborty in New Delhi; editing by Peter Rutherford)

Holkar stadium to shine brighter with LED lights from Oct
Indore: The iconic Holkar stadium is all set to dazzle under a new lighting system as its old metal halide floodlights are being replaced with LED lights ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 in Oct. The upgrade is not just about brighter lights; it's a leap toward international standards, enabling features like instant illumination and dynamic DMX light shows, which were previously impossible at the venue. DMX light shows have become a popular attraction among spectators and are now a regular feature at major sporting events. For nearly two decades, the stadium operated with six high-mast floodlights powered by metal halide lamps, supported by synchronised diesel generator sets to avoid power interruptions. These lamps, which took up to 30 minutes to fully illuminate, are now making way for modern LED systems known for their superior energy efficiency, sharper focus, enhanced colour rendering, and immediate switch-on capability. "The floodlights are being replaced with LED systems to improve intensity, coverage, and quality. Tenders have been finalised and installation is underway. A BCCI inspection team has already reviewed the preparations," MPCA president Abhilash Khandekar told TOI. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo The new system will also allow the stadium to host DMX light shows, synchronised light displays often seen at high-profile international matches. While Gwalior's new stadium has already featured such shows during the Madhya Pradesh League, this will be a first for Holkar stadium, significantly enhancing the live experience for fans and broadcasters alike. Apart from the lighting upgrade, other improvements include repairs to damaged seating and minor civil renovations to ready the venue for the global tournament. Holkar stadium will host five matches during the ICC Women's World Cup: Australia vs New Zealand (Oct1), New Zealand vs South Africa (Oct 6), India vs England (Oct 19), Australia vs England (Oct 22), and Australia vs South Africa (Oct 25). The tournament will run from Sept 30 to Nov 2 across India, with Indore rejoining the international cricket circuit in style.
