Congress means rule of licenses, permits, and quotas: BJP's Nishikant Dubey

Economic Times2 days ago
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey on Sunday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and accused the Congress party of having close ties with big businessmen during their time in power.
Dubey referred to an incident from 1971 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi's grandmother, alleging that only one company, Tata, was awarded the responsibility of manufacturing chemicals.
In a post on X, Dubey wrote, "Rahul Gandhi ji, your Congress and its collusion with businessmen, having a blast. Wasn't it your grandmother Indira ji who was perhaps the Prime Minister, June 2, 1971, in Parliament, when the responsibility for making chemicals was given to only one company, Tata?" राहुल गांधी जी आपकी कांग्रेस और व्यापारियों के साथ साठगांठ के साथ मौज

- Dr Nishikant Dubey (@nishikant_dubey) July 13, 2025 He further alleged that the Congress party ruled the country through a system of "licenses, permits, and quotas", saying, "Congress means the rule of licenses, permits, and quotas. The dark truth of the Gandhi family."
Dubey's remarks come after Rahul Gandhi's repeated claims of the BJP's links with business ConglomeratesEarlier on Friday, while addressing a public rally in Bhubaneswar, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP-led Odisha government of "stealing the wealth" from poor people."The Government of Odisha has just one work--to steal the wealth of Odisha from the hands of the poor people of the state... Earlier, the BJD Government did this and now the BJP Government is doing this. On one side, there is the poor public of Odisha, Dalits, tribals, the backward class, farmers and labourers, and on the other side, there are 5-6 billionaires and the BJP Government. This fight is going on. Only the Congress workers, along with the people of Odisha, can win this fight; no one else," he said.
The Congress MP also alleged that chariots of Lord Jagannath were halted during the Rath Yatra for industrialist Gautam Adani. "Adruns the Odisha Government; Adani runs Narendra Modi. When Jagannath Yatra is taken out in Odisha, when the Jagannath Yatra chariots are pulled, lakhs of people witness it and follow it. Then, a drama takes place--the chariots are stopped for Adani and his family. This will make you understand everything about the Government of Odisha," he alleged.

An Instagram user named Sangna Bajaj shared a video on Sunday showing that eggs were hurled at a rath yatra procession she was a part on in Canada's Toronto. In the video, Bajaj is seen singing and chanting devotional songs during the procession, however, as the procession moves into a less crowded area, several broken eggs can be seen scattered on the street. Bajaj claimed in the video that people from a nearby building threw the eggs on them. She added that if the intention was to stop the procession, it failed. 'We were stunned. Hurt. But we didn't stop. Because hate can never overpower faith,' she said. Bajaj attributed the incident to racism in Canada and said that it left her feeling hurt but was unable to stop the procession. 'We didn't stop. Because when Lord Jagannath is on the streets, no hate can shake us,' she wrote in the caption of her post. The video has been seen around 1.7 lakh times so far. Bajaj was part of ISKCON's 53rd annual Rath Yatra when the egg-hurling incident left participants shaken but undeterred. By ISKCON's own description, the Rath Yatra is a loud festival, where devotees gather on the streets to sing and chant bhajans.
