Sadie Stanley explains why she found it 'very natural' to work with Joshua Jackson on Karate Kid
The 23-year-old actress plays the on-screen daughter of Jackson's character in the what has become the sixth instalment in the martial arts franchise, and thinks that they gelled so well to begin with because he is a father in his own life.
She told ScreenRant: "That process was very natural. We got lunch when we first arrived and hung out for a little bit and just got to know each other.
"He has a daughter of his own, Juno, who's adorable, and he is such a dad. He talks about her constantly, gushes about her, shows pictures, talks about what she's into these days and what she's like. He very clearly just has such dad energy."
The 'Kim Possible' star noted that her character Mia is "very protective" of her father throughout the story of the film and
She said: "Of course, Mia's a little protective of her father. She lost her mom when she was young, and that really forces you to grow up a lot when you're that age. She just has her dad. It's just them two against the world working in this pizza shop trying to make ends meet.
"I think that definitely informs her relationships with other people."
In the film, Mia strikes up a relationship with Ben Wang's character of Li Fong and noted that was one of the turning points for her on-screen father because it served as a "challenge" in his own life.
She said: "I think when she meets Li, she really holds up a mirror to him and challenges him to be more honest with himself and with others. She really sees his potential before he fully sees it in himself.
"I think that's really special when you can do that for somebody. Just in general, Mia is a person who sees through the noise, and she's very emotionally intuitive, a grounding force."
In the early 1990s, Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank appeared in 'The Next Karate Kid' and Sadie insisted that she would love for the Hollywood star to make a comeback to the franchise.
She said: "Absolutely. Great question. Please bring her back. She's fantastic. I'm obsessed with her. That would be so cool. We can have all four of them train Mia."

Superman director James Gunn has revealed Bradley Cooper plays the titular hero's father Jor-El in the DC movie. The 58-year-old filmmaker collaborated with the A Star Is Born actor, 50, on the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy for Marvel - in which Cooper voiced Rocket Raccon - and Gunn has now revealed Cooper will feature in Superman as the hero's Kryptonian father. Superman follows the titular hero (David Corenswet) as he tries to balance his human and Kryptonian lives, all while Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) does everything in his power to bring about his downfall. Superman - which lands in cinemas on 11 July - is set to be the first movie in Gunn's DCU, and Corenswet recently stressed the director's cinematic universe will differ from others as the DCU will prioritise the individual stories in each film rather than an overarching plan for the wider franchise. The actor explained to Screen Rant: 'If people knew what goes into getting a movie together and making a movie, they'd understand that if you stick too closely to the plan, you're going to end up compromising on the things that are actually important, and the things that keep people coming back to the theater and get people wanting to show their kids the movies that they saw. 'So that's the guiding light for him and [co-DC head] Peter [Safran] moving forward. 'There are some things coming up, but that's the main principle and that's a good person to be working for.' Even so, Corenswet admitted he knew 'essentially nothing' about the future of the DCU. He said: 'I mean, [I know] essentially nothing. Essentially just that [Gunn] means it when he says that no plan is better than the quality of the scripts and the directors who he and Peter have to do them. 'I don't know very much about the comic book fandom, and the idea of getting a timeline announcement. I know very little about that. But I know it's a thing, and I know that, for better or for worse, they will compromise a timeline rather than compromise a film. 'They want to make good movies and good television shows, and they want them to be worth watching, and worth rewatching.'

Quinta Brunson has insisted that she "didn't announce" her divorce. "Those are invisible voices that aren't in your home with you, that aren't in your personal life, that aren't your friends. 'I love my fans, I love the people who watch Abbott. So you want to hear them, and you want to listen to them, but when it comes to matters of your personal life and decisions you make, you do have to tune it out. "When I finally cut it off, there was something very liberating about it. "You can still change and evolve and start over. Cutting my hair helped remind me that I am an artist first. I want to feel things. I want to do things. I want to make choices. I want to be a person, and not just stuck in having to be a certain way for business."
