Delhi Assembly set to hold first paperless session from August 4
The upcoming session of the Delhi Assembly from August 4 to August 8 will be the first fully paperless e-Assembly session in the Capital's history, chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday at the Delhi Secretariat after holding a a meeting of the legislative party. The inauguration will be done by Union minister for law and justice Arjun Ram Meghwal. A special trial run of the e-Vidhan platform, part of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) programme, will also be held during the event. The trial will allow MLAs to experience the new digital interface firsthand ahead of the upcoming session. 'Today, in the meeting of the legislative party held at the Delhi Secretariat, a detailed discussion was held with all MLAs to realise the resolution of 'Developed Delhi'. This meeting, held before the upcoming assembly session, was an important opportunity to brainstorm on our collective strategy, priorities, and issues of public interest. Gupta said the Delhi government is undertaking major initiatives to make its governance system more accessible, efficient and transparent. The drive to digitise all government offices has significantly accelerated the pace of administrative work. Gupta said that she has transformed her own office into an e-Office to set a benchmark for other departments to follow. 'We are working in alignment with the vision of the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This system ensures accountability and provides real-time updates on how long files are pending with any officer or department,' Gupta said. She said that the e-Office platform, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), showed remarkable results in July. Out of the Delhi government's 199 departments, 119 are now fully operational on e-Office, up from 22% in June to nearly 60% now. During the same period, the number of digital files used by these departments exceeded 118,000, marking a growth of over 250% compared to the previous month (June). 'The e-Office system has not only significantly reduced paper consumption but has also made decision-making faster and more transparent. Government officials and staff in Delhi are now benefitting from digital file tracking, quicker approvals, and immediate implementation of decisions,' she said.

Farmers' welfare top priority under PM Modi's leadership: Shivraj Chouhan
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday said that the welfare of farmers is a top priority of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing the gathering of farmers, officials and dignitaries in Patna, Agriculture Minister Chouhan said that with the help of the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme, the government is ensuring that the assistance reaches directly into the accounts of the farmers. "Earlier, farmers used to get only a few pennies of Re 1 sent by the government, but now they receive the whole amount without any leakage," the Agriculture Minister said here. The Union Minister reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve to make farming profitable. Over Rs. 3,77,000 crore has been transferred directly to the accounts of farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme so far. On this occasion, over Rs. 20,000 crore was deposited in the accounts of farmers, providing financial assistance to lakhs of farmer families across the country. Chouhan emphasised efforts like Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Yojana to increase agricultural productivity per hectare, especially in low productivity areas. He highlighted the significant contribution of Makhana production in Bihar and the continuous efforts to connect agricultural science with the farms. The Union Minister assured the timely and adequate availability of fertilisers and pesticides. He also informed about the efforts under various schemes to provide compensation in case of crop failure. He said that now the crops are procured at Minimum Support Price (MSP), to which 50 per cent profit is added on the production cost. This reflects the farmer-centric approach of the government. Govt chalking out plan to construct 10 lakh houses for poor, says Delhi CM
The Delhi government is chalking out a strategy to construct 10 lakh houses for the poor, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday while directing officials to allot 50,000 flats to slum dwellers for resettlement in the first phase of the initiative. 'The government is preparing a comprehensive strategy to meet the demand for 10 lakh houses. These efforts are fully aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of providing a house to every poor,' the CM said. Her remarks came as she inspected the government flats built to rehabilitate slum dwellers in Northwest Delhi's Sultanpuri. She directed the officials to prioritise the immediate repair of salvageable flats and reconstruct those beyond repair. Constructed in 2016 for rehabilitation of slum-dwellers with government expenditure running into crores of rupees, the flats in Sultanpuri have remained unallocated due to the apathy and lack of intent of the previous administration, Gupta said. A similar situation prevails for another 50,000 flats in Outer Delhi, she underlined, adding that many units have deteriorated so severely that substantial funds will now go into repairs. The Union government has already sanctioned around Rs 732 crore to repair thousands of these flats, Gupta said. On criticism from the Opposition over recent demolition drives in slum clusters in the Capital, Gupta said, 'Parties that failed to act for years are now making noise for political gain. When they were in power, why didn't they distribute these houses? Why were these flats allowed to turn into ruins? Were they waiting for our government to come and do the job?' A day after she made similar remarks, the CM reiterated her promise for a flat for every slum dweller. 'No one will be forced to live under the open sky, shiver in the cold, or struggle for basic sanitation. Our government is determined to guarantee every poor family security, essential facilities, and the right to a dignified life.' A total of 1,060 houses have been built in ground plus four floor structure in Sultanpuri's C-Block for economically weaker sections under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The construction of the project was completed in March 2016. The one BHK flats were to come up at a cost of Rs 52.81 crore, which later escalated to Rs 67.84 crore. The per-unit cost, as per the initial amount, was Rs 4.98 lakh. It was revised to Rs 6.40 lakh. The tender cost of the project was set at Rs 51.72 crore, while the total expenditure reached Rs 63.83 crore.
