This Brand Quietly Took Over My Summer Wardrobe - And Now There's 40% Off

Graziadaily18-06-2025

Denim in this heatwave might not be your first thought but, and stick with me here, there's logic to the madness. When Aligne announces its extremely sought-after summer sale - and it includes up to 40% off its cult denim pieces - it's far better to ponder the logistics of wearing denim in June once you've added it to your basket. Or, (and this may be the more brutal truth) it might be time to gently remind you that this mini heatwave is (most likely) our British summer and it'll be back to a denim jacket and jeans by next week.
In just five years, Aligne has carved itself quite a niche when it comes to wardrobe essentials, and the London-born brand has become a dependable (and somewhat under-the-radar) name in conscious fashion. Its Daphne Blazer remains firmly in the social media hall of fame, a viral style that cemented Aligne's tailoring credentials. Meanwhile, its outerwear earned celebrity fans like Katie Holmes, who was spotted wearing the chartreuse Stella Coat last year. But, beyond tailoring, it's Aligne's denim that really stands out as an everyday favourite - particularly when there are hefty discounts involved.

Moto Collarless Denim Jacket
Aligne's denim jacket is one of the best on the high street - even without its massive discount. A style that will stand the test of the seasons (its collarless design means it can be paired with both midi dresses and jeans), as well as the test of time.
I've scrolled through Aligne's summer sale to find the standout pieces worth investing in, and, while there's plenty of temptation across all categories, it's, of course, the denim section that deserves highlighting. The Collarless Denim Jacket, for example, is a cooler take on its collared cousin, which means it can be thrown on over a floral midi dress or buttoned up with a mini skirt. Plus, the jacket is thicker than a cardigan but thinner than a puffer or wool coat, so it's the sort of jacket you'll be able to wear when the nights start to feel oddly cooler again. 2.
Luella Mini Denim Dress
As well as Aligne's denim jacket offerings, the brand has some cool denim dresses, too. This style in particular is a good one to have in your wardrobe, and with its button-down front, mini length and front patch pockets, it can be worn on its own or layered up.
Denim dresses are another way to integrate the fabric into your summer wardrobe - even if (like me) you had previously ruled it out for being too structured or hot. Aligne's Luella Denim Mini Dress puts my previous apprehension to shame with its soft and gently flared structure, preppy front pockets and crew neck - and, it's a dress that can be polished with a simple kitten heel for a last-minute dinner plan. 3.
Jate Denim Wrap Waistcoat
An easy way to add texture and interest to an outfit without feeling like you're overheating in denim is to invest in a good denim waistcoat - like the Jate style from Aligne. Wear on its own paired with wide-leg trousers and chunky sandals, or with a t-shirt layered underneath.
It wouldn't be an Aligne sale without including an excellent waistcoat, and the Jate Denim Wrap Waistcoat is a more relaxed take on the Daphne Blazer, featuring that iconic buttoned front, yet it can be dressed up with a pair of wide leg trousers and kitten heels, or down with a pair of capri pants and colourful Adidas trainers. The Aligne sale doesn't stop there, either. There are plenty of other pieces worth investing in. Shop the best of the Aligne summer sale below. 4.
Santino Organic Cotton Maxi Dress
If you're on the hunt for a summer dress that will keep you cool as well as keep you looking cool, this Aligne dress is an excellent choice. Finished with black statement buttons, a dropped waist and side seam pockets (!), style the dress with ballet flats and a shoulder bag. 5.
ED Cherish Midi Denim Dress
This dress is part of Aligne's collection with Elizabeth Day, which was inspired by Cher's wardrobe from the iconic film Clueless . Its Cherish Midi Dress features a fitted waist that falls into a pleated skirt, chest patch pockets and a flattering slim fit. 6.
Gabriella Striped Denim Dress
The Gabriella dress is a staple for those wanting to inject a bit of fun into a summer wardrobe, without being too over-the-top. The blue striped print, shirt collar and front zip make it perfect for wearing to the office, and then to after-work drinks with a simple change of shoe. 7.
Emmet Striped Knitted Polo
Polo shirts have done somewhat of a 360 this year as they shed the rugby boy stereotype and entered the wardrobe of fashion people in the know. This Aligne style is most definitely one of the best, with its bright blue and butter yellow colourway and preppy button collar. 8.
Leah Linen Mini Dress
Inspired by the brand's best-selling Leo waistcoat, the Leah dress features a button-up front, crew neck and adjustable back buckle to give you that cinched waist. Linen is also a non-negotiable in my summer wardrobe, so this dress gives you the best of both worlds and requires minimal styling. 9.
Iggy Mini Denim Dress
A white dress in the summer is just about as integral as a little black dress in the winter. If you're not sure which white dress style to go for, this Aligne one is both easy and breezy, with lace-up detailing at the neck, a boxy fit and a classic shirt collar. 10.
Henry Slim Barrel Jeans
A great pair of jeans forms the crux of most of our wardrobes, and there's no better time to invest in quality denim than when it's on sale. Barrel jeans have had quite the year, and there's no sign of the trend slowing down, so if you're looking to dip your toe in the trend, try this pair, with a slim fit and subtle barrel style.

The page three girl who dated Steve Coogan and married into one of Britain's most illustrious dynasties: Lady Rothschild says she is still 'so proud' of her glamour past

When Loretta Basey married the heir to the Rothschild dynasty close to a decade ago, she not only captivated society but raised eyebrows after it emerged she was a former glamour model from Essex. But Lady Rothschild, as she has been officially known since taking her vows with her billionaire husband Nat in 2016, has never tried to shy away from her tabloid roots - and if anything, looks back in sheer delight at those days. 'I've been described as worse things,' the 34-year-old told The Telegraph in a rare interview. 'But on Page 3 – honestly, I really want to make this clear: I'm so proud to have been a Page 3 girl and I will always celebrate that achievement.' The mother-of-one these days is more into writing page turners than turning heads, with her hotly-tipped debut romance thriller, Finding Grace, set to hit the shelves next week. She describes it as her latest 'achievement', a word she also fondly attaches to her former career in front of the camera. 'I've worked really hard to do what I have – whether it's Page 3 or my book,' she explained, adding that she want to 'carry on achieving things.' It's a degree of ambition in the well-spoken Lady Rothschild that Alison Webster, The Sun's official Page 3 photographer, recognised was there right from the start. Alison knew Lady Rothschild as Elle Basey, a name she went by for her glamour modelling in lads' magazines and on Page 3. But for conventional work — at 5ft 8in tall, she was a touch on the short side for the catwalk, so this was largely hair modelling — she went by her real name, Loretta Basey. Speaking to MailOnline in 2016 prior to the couple's impeccable wedding at the Swiss ski resort of Klosters, Alison recalled: 'Elle was a great glamour model, a very beautiful girl with a fantastic figure, great boobs, small waist, good bum, and with the bluest eyes and lots of long, chestnut hair. 'Being a glamour model is more difficult than you may think. 'When you take your clothes off, every little blemish that you have is exposed and visible, but she had none.' Elle was also a 'very strong character', says Alison, 'a bright girl who was sure of herself and always in control. 'And she was ambitious. We'd sit with a glass of wine after a day's shoot and she'd tell me she wanted to make something more of herself. And I always felt that she would.' It was during this time in her life that Lady Rothschild came to meet award-winning actor and comedian Steve Coogan in the unlikeliest of ways. in 2011, in the guise of his comic creation Alan Partridge, divorcee Coogan guest-edited an edition of Loaded, the now defunct lads' magazine. A shoot ensured - and in one photograph, the actor was seen cupping Loretta's breasts in his hands. It certainly didn't harm his chances with the stunning model, with the couple falling hard for one another. Loretta shared his house in Lewes, East Sussex, for the best part of four years until 2014 and, according to one of her friends, she was 'in love with him for a time'. But meeting Coogan signalled the beginning of the end of her two-year stint as one of the most popular Page 3 girls, during which she appeared in The Sun more than 20 times. 'He wasn't keen on her continuing to do that kind of work,' says Webster. 'He guided her into giving it up.' Loretta looks back at her relationship with Coogan with nothing by fondness, but it was Eton-educated Nat Rothschild, 53 and heir to the European banking dynasty, who ultimately swept her off her feet. Nat became the 5th Baron Rothschild last February following the death of his father, Jacob, at the age of 87. Nat's mother Serena, a thoroughbred racehorse owner, died a few years previously in 2019, aged 84. Today Nat and Loretta - who are 19 years apart in age - live a gilded life between their superyacht and multiple homes in London, Wiltshire, Los Angeles and Klosters, with an estimated wealth of up to £40billion.

Pulp's 'Patchwork' set at Glastonbury interrupted by surprise appearance

Glastonbury Festival fans' predictions proved to be correct as Pulp took to the stage - and at some point during their performance of Common People, the Red Arrows flew past Pulp's surprise set at Glastonbury Festival this evening featured a surprise appearance - the Red Arrows. The Sheffield group, revealed as the mystery band Patchwork, took to the Pyramid Stage and began with a rendition of their hit song Sorted For E's And Wizz while the words Pulp Summer appeared on the screen behind them. Following their opening track, the Jarvis Cocker-fronted band launched into one of their best known songs, Disco 2000, from 1995's Different Class, one of the most acclaimed albums of the 1990s, prompting a mass singalong from the Glastonbury crowd. ‌ The band also played Spike Island and Acrylic Afternoons. The band finished with a double whammy of two of their best know songs, Babies and Common People, having played their breakthrough single Do You Remember The First Time? earlier in the set. ‌ And during their performance of Common People, fans were amazed to see the Red Arrows fly over Glastonbury. One wrote on X: "Pulp, the Pyramid & the Red Arrows, the best place on earth." Another tweeted: "Common People by Pulp is the greatest song from the 90s. That is a hill I will die on! Incredible crowd at the pyramid stage, thousands of flags and singing their hearts out. And the Red Arrows flew over, what timing." A third said: "The Red Arrows doing a flypast during the Pulp set at Glasto is too bizarre." Someone else wrote: "The Red Arrows flying over Glasto while Pulp play Common People might be the most British thing that has ever happened." "The Red Arrows flying over Glastonbury during Pulp singing Common People. Peak British," said someone else. One more added: "Red Arrows could not have planned that better coming over the Pyramid right at the climax of Common Man by Pulp." A festival-goer tweeted: "pulp featuring the red arrows. best set of the weekend so far." Their performance comes 30 years after their headline performance at the festival when they stood in for The Stone Roses after the Manchester band's guitarist John Squire was injured in a cycling accident. Groups of people wearing waterproof parkas took to the stage before the performance began, and footage from their 1995 headline show was broadcast on the screen behind. ‌ The festival worked hard to keep the identity of the mysterious Patchwork act a secret, but hours before the anonymous band was set to perform, a telling clue was spotted. Among the names circulating on social media were Chappell Roan, Harry Styles or even Robbie Williams. However, a festival-goer has exclusively revealed to The Mirror they have spotted a telling clue on a sound engineer box right by the Pyramid stage today. A source has shared an exclusive photograph of the boxes – one of which is labelled with the band name Pulp. ‌ The source told us: "I spotted the sound engineer box with Pulp's name on as they were setting up during the Kaiser Chiefs set." Earlier this month, expert social media account SecretGlasto, which has built up a reputation for confirming secret Worthy Farm acts for the past ten years, revealed the mysterious act was Pulp. In April, fans called for a "Pulp Day" after the legendary band announced they would release a new album. Frontman Jarvis Cocker confirmed the group would release their eighth studio album later this year. The album comes over a decade after the band's most recent release, 2013's After You' X users shared photographs of albums, announcements and interview snippets from the band over the years while radio stations predominantly played Pulp songs. BBC Radio 6's Lauren Laverne played a series of Pulp hits, including Do You Remember the First Time? and Common People, which left social media users calling Pulp Day "glorious". Another user shared a drawing of the band and wished everyone a "happy Pulp Day". One user wrote: "Lauren Laverne listeners currently knocking it out of the park with their Pulp selections." Another added: "Almost a Pulp takeover. Glorious."

Emma Raducanu: Carlos Alcaraz and I are just ‘good friends'

Emma Raducanu insisted her and Carlos Alcaraz are 'just good friends' after the rumour mill began churning when they were announced as a pairing for the US Open's new mixed doubles competition. The two - who can expect to be given a portmanteau nickname of either 'Alcaranu' or 'Raducaraz' – are one of several eye-catching duos set to make their debuts in New York in August. When the pairing was announced during the Queen's Club event, they were asked about how it came about, with Alcaraz saying Raducanu took 'a while' to reply to him when he proposed the pair join forces for the $1 million (£728,756) event. When Raducanu was then spotted on the Queen's Club balcony watching Alcaraz's semi-final victory in west London, the rumours started to gain momentum. 'We're just good friends,' Raducanu said ahead of Wimbledon. Raducanu and Alcaraz, who is after a Wimbledon 'three-peat', had a similar breakout moment in their careers. The pair's history started in 2021 when she was catapulted to superstardom by winning the US Open. Then, Alcaraz was ranked 55th in the world – Raducanu was 150th – and for both of them, the tournament was a coming-of-age moment that would change the trajectory of their careers. Raducanu lifted the trophy months after doing her A levels, while Alcaraz announced himself on the world stage by knocking out then-third seed Tsitsipas on Arthur Ashe. It was during that tournament that the two teenagers encountered each other for the first time, and it is at the same venue that they will make their doubles debut in August this year. For now, despite a sponsor's event alongside Alcaraz, where Raducanu admitted 'we were just getting some volley practice ahead of New York', talk of doubles will have to wait until after the home slam, and everything that comes with it Raducanu's preparations for Wimbledon have been far from straightforward as she continues to deal with a back issue that has affected her since Strasbourg in May. There was also a personal matter that left her emotional and fighting back tears after her opening round win in Eastbourne. To manage the ongoing back issue Raducanu has been forced to seek multiple types of treatment including dry needling, muscle stimulation and taping. 'Truthfully I don't expect much from myself this year,' Raducanu said when asked about her Wimbledon preparation. 'I know I've just been dealing with certain things. I just want to go out there and embrace the moment, I want to embrace the occasion. 'I know there's not many opportunities to be playing at Wimbledon. You get it once a year and for a finite amount of time. I'm just looking forward to going out there and feeling the surroundings and the atmosphere.' The back has been a particular problem for Raducanu during the grass court season, and caused her to pull out of the Berlin Open. But after saying following her second-round Eastbourne defeat to teenager Maya Joint: 'I will stop on the court regardless' when asked about the potential impact of the injury, it is clearly not completely solved ahead of the tournament. 'It's just been managing, as I've said the last few weeks,' she said. 'I wouldn't say it's 100%, but a lot of the time with tennis players, nothing is ever 100 per cent. So just taking it as it comes.' The first hurdle for Raducanu at the All England Tennis Club will be British teenager Mimi Xu, with the pair due to face each other on court one on Monday. Earlier this season Xu was sitting A Level exams around her tournament commitments in Birmingham and Nottingham. 'I think it's a very dangerous match, very difficult. I think Mimi is a really, really good player. I practiced with her a few times. A lot of weapons. Also moves really well. It's going to be a really different match.' The pair have spent enough time together that Raducanu converses with Xu's mother in Mandarin, given the opportunity to exercise her language skills - and the teenager was a part of the Billie Jean King Cup squad as a practice partner. 'For her it's one where there's nothing to lose. I remember when I had my first Wimbledon here and I was 18. It's a great feeling. You just feel, like, completely fearless,' Raducanu said. 'So I think for me it's going to be a challenge, but one that I'm looking forward to and I'm ready for.' When Raducanu reclaimed the title as British No 1 ahead of the home grand slam, it was at the expense of Katie Boulter, who held the title for the previous two years. But for Boulter, not having the weight of seeding, title and the expectations that come with, she believes can help her when she takes on ninth seed Paula Badosa on centre court on Monday. 'I feel like it's a totally different situation for me coming in this year,' Boulter said. 'I'm not seeded. I'm kind of like a dark horse and I like that feeling. 'I do like the fact that I can go out and swing free and I've got nothing to lose. I'm really looking forward to that match.'
