Prince Harry Suffers a Major Life Setback

Yahoo02-05-2025
Prince Harry suffered a major setback in one of his legal proceedings on May 2 after a judge dismissed his appeal to regain state-funded security from the United Kingdom.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, has been fighting to regain the security detail for him and his family after he and Meghan Markle, 43, stepped back from their royal duties and moved to the United States back in 2020.
According to the verdict reported byPEOPLE, a judge called the decision not to restore the Duke and Dutchess of Sussex's security detail "understandable and perhaps predictable" and explained that "The Duke was, in effect, stepping in and out of the cohort of protection provided by RAVEC [the government's Royal and VIP Executive Committee]. Outside the U.K., he was outside the cohort, but when in the U.K., his security would be considered as appropriate depending on the circumstances."
"Even if there had been a risk analysis from the Risk Management Board, it would very likely have only confirmed the threat, vulnerability and impact levels which the Duke of Sussex had faced when earlier risk analyses were undertaken," the judge continued. "But it would have had nothing to say on the critical features of the changed situation, namely the need for protective security on future uncertain visits and the government's appetite for risk."

Prince Harry initially lost his first case against the RAVEC back in February 2024, so the latest loss is a setback for him and his family. The Duke of Sussex has been fighting in court since early April and his lawyers said that he and the Dutchess "felt forced to step back from the role of full time official working members of the royal family as they considered they were not being protected by the institution."
Prince Harry previously told PEOPLE this case was the one that "has always mattered the most," referencing his other legal battles against the British tabloids.

Matt Fitzpatrick's Wife Katherine Sends Personal Message Before Final Rounds at The Open

Matt Fitzpatrick's Wife Katherine Sends Personal Message Before Final Rounds at The Open originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Matt Fitzpatrick carded a steady 66 in Friday's second round at Royal Portrush to climb to 9‑under par, sitting just one shot behind leader Scottie Scheffler as the tournament moves into Saturday's third round. His consistent ball‑striking and deft putting have him firmly in contention for a first Claret Jug, and the Englishman heads into moving day focused on maintaining momentum in front of a roaring links crowd. But it isn't just pre‑shot routine keeping Fitzpatrick's spirits high. Before teeing off on Saturday, his wife Katherine sent a surprising nine‑word message under his Instagram update. 'This week a hot new bombshell enters the villa,' she wrote. The playful comment complemented Fitzpatrick's post, which read, 'Fun few days of golf! Looking forward to the next two days in front of an incredible crowd at Royal Portrush. @theopen.' The man performed a magic show in front of the British crowd, making birdie after birdie to be in contention on Saturday, playing really good links golf. Fitzpatrick's effort didn't go unnoticed. Katherine posted a photo of the couple embracing on the course, simply captioned 'Fitzmagic.' Their on‑course chemistry isn't new. The pair married last year in a coastal ceremony, and Katherine's Instagram is full of tributes to their life together. After their nuptials, she shared a snap of them walking down the aisle with the caption, 'Best day of our lives 🤍.' And before Thursday's opening round, Katherine didn't just cheer from the gallery. She personalized Matt's golf balls with tiny red hearts and short notes, ensuring he'd carry a bit of home with him on every tee shot. On some, she wrote 'MF IS CUTE' in neatbold red letters while on others the message shifted to personal 'I LOVE YOU's stretched across the dimpled surface. Finally, she adorned the remaining balls with 'XO,' encircled by little hearts sketched in the same red ink. Her unique way of supporting the golfer captured the heart of the fans on the internet and also might be the reason behind Fitzpatrick's Friday magic, or like she said, "Fitzmagic".This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 19, 2025, where it first appeared.
