Matthew Berry's Updated Top 50 Overall Rankings for 2025

NBC Sports08-05-2025
The Fantasy Football Happy Hour crew discuss which players benefited the most following their team's additions in the 2025 NFL Draft, including Chicago Bears' Caleb Williams and Los Angeles Chargers' Justin Herbert.
Now that the NFL draft is behind us and we have a much clearer picture of the NFL landscape, it's time to update my top 50 overall rankings, which includes four rookies.
While these rankings are obviously adaptable, they are for a 1 QB league with full PPR scoring. And as we get closer to fantasy draft season, these rankings will expand to a top 100 and eventually a top 200.
As always, please let me know what you think of the rankings – what you agree with, what you don't – on social media where I am @MatthewBerryTMR on all forms of social media (X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky) except the Bleacher Nation Fantasy App where I am merely @MatthewBerry.
Hard to keep it to just 50, and yes, I'm sure you have opinions on who should be on this list, who shouldn't, who is too high and who is too low. Hit me up.

Tom Brady Has One-Word Reaction to Magic Johnson Showing off His Billionaire Lifestyle

Tom Brady Has One-Word Reaction to Magic Johnson Showing off His Billionaire Lifestyle originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While many fans remember Magic Johnson from his glory days with the "Showtime" Lakers teams of the 1980s, the 65-year-old has since become an accomplished businessman and entrepreneur. The five-time NBA champion shared a post to his Instagram account on Thursday to provide some motivation to his followers. Johnson's caption read, "You don't need much motivation to workout with this beautiful backdrop!" The video shows Magic walking on a treadmill as the drone camera pulls back to reveal his location. Johnson is aboard a huge yacht named Whisper, although it's unknown whether it's his vessel or a charter. The Instagram reel then cuts to show the yacht from another angle, from the vantage point of striking cliffs and exposed rocks near crystal-blue shallows, which could be located somewhere in the Mediterranean. With all the attention from Johnson's followers, one fan took special notice. NFL legend Tom Brady congratulated Johnson's post by leaving a reply that read, "Yessir🔥." Brady and Johnson are connected indirectly in business, as they are both minority owners in several sports leagues. Brady, along with Mark and Carol Davis, has ownership of the Las Vegas Aces. The former New England Patriots quarterback is also a minority owner of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders. Magic, who is reported to have a net worth of $1.5 billion, is affiliated with the Los Angeles Sparks as part of a collective called Sparks LA Sports, which owns the franchise. Johnson has developed countless businesses over the years. He is the CEO and chairman of Magic Johnson Enterprises (MJE), an investment company with a focus on working with underserved urban communities. Founded in 1987, MJE also owns a portion of the NFL's Washington Commanders, MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers, MLS's Los Angeles FC and NWSL's Washington Spirit. Steelers sign GM Omar Khan to 3-year extension after offseason that included signing Aaron Rodgers

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers signed general manager Omar Khan to a three-year extension after an offseason that saw the team bring in quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers announced the deal Thursday that will keep Khan with Pittsburgh through the 2028 season. He was hired as the team's GM in 2022. 'Omar and his team have done a great job over the past three years in constructing our roster through the NFL draft, strategic trades, and free agency,' Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a statement. 'We look forward to continuing that trend that will lead to even more success on the field.' Khan and coach Mike Tomlin are structuring their offense around Rodgers, the four-time NFL MVP who's returning for a 21st season. The 41-year-old Rodgers signed a one-year deal after a season in which Justin Fields and Russell Wilson combined to lead the Steelers to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth. To bolster the receiver spot, Pittsburgh acquired two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf from Seattle. The Steelers quickly signed him to a five-year deal to bring some stability at the position. Earlier this week, the team acquired All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick from the Miami Dolphins for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. The next order of business for Pittsburgh could be working out a new deal with star linebacker T.J. Watt. The four-time All-Pro and 2021 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year is getting ready to enter the final season of the four-year extension he signed in September 2021. In April, Pittsburgh will host the NFL draft. The Steelers are scheduled to have a dozen selections to reshape their roster. A priority figures to be in finding a long-term solution at QB. 'I believe we are building a championship roster and look forward to the 2025 season and beyond as our goals continue to be to bring another Super Bowl to the city of Pittsburgh and our great fans,' said Khan, who's in his 25th season with the Steelers. ___

Previewing the 2025 season for Texas A&M DB Dalton Brooks with his player profile

As we gear up for the 2025 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, their recruiting rankings upon graduating from high school, and their projected role under head coach Mike Elko. Dalton Brooks has seen a fair amount of action since arriving at A&M in 2023. As a sophomore, he played in all 13 games, starting eight. He showed great promise and brought the kind of enforcer qualities you want in a safety, adding attitude to the back end of the defense. With a nose for the ball, Brooks recorded 59 tackles in his second season, ranking second on the team behind Taurean York. He also posted 5.5 tackles for loss (TFL), placing fifth on the roster. Brooks evokes memories of hard-hitting safety Donovan Wilson, now with the Dallas Cowboys, who once set the tone for A&M's secondary. Expect Brooks to have an expanded role this season as Coach Elko keeps a close eye on the defense. Preseason Player Profile Recruiting Rankings (Class of 2024) The former four-star prospect was a highly recruited athlete who excelled in both football and track. He helped Shiner High to back-to-back state titles and had a standout senior season, rushing for over 2,500 yards and 36 touchdowns, while adding 120 tackles and two interceptions. Brooks was a two-time MVP in high school before committing to Texas A&M. Depth Chart Outlook The safety position remains fluid, with multiple players experiencing highs and lows throughout the season. Having started eight games in 2024, Brooks enters 2025 with a strong opportunity to claim a starting role in the defensive backfield.
