ESPN's biggest area of concern for the Sooners isn't really an issue
While Oklahoma added immediate impact players like John Mateer and Jaydn Ott to give the Sooners' offense a boost, there's still a question about the offensive line and tight end. ESPN's Chris Low believes tight end could be the one position that trips up the Oklahoma Sooners in 2025.
More: Oklahoma Sooners 2025 preview: Who will start at tight end for the OU in 2025?
While who starts at tight end may still be a mystery, even if it's just average, it won't impact Oklahoma's season that much.
Tight end wasn't great last year, but it was far from the biggest problem. Offensive line play, wide receiver health, and quarterback were far bigger issues. Bauer Sharp was relied upon in a greater capacity than what everyone intended, with the Sooners' top five wide receivers out for large portions of the season.
In 2023, tight end wasn't great when Austin Stogner returned for his last hurrah in college football. However, the Sooners' offense was still really good, finishing in the top five in the nation in scoring offense.
Tight end matters. But if everything else on the offense is functioning well, in particular offensive line and quarterback, it won't matter as much what's happening at tight end. The Sooners haven't needed great tight end play over the years to have success on offense but it can't be a negative. The trio of Will Howard, John Locke, and Carson Kent should be able to provide passable tight end play with upside if they're not the focal point in the passing game. Jaren Kanak has a lot of upside athletically, but he's new to the position.
Oklahoma threw numbers at the position, hoping that the competition throughout the offseason would answer the question. Time will tell what OU has at tight end in the fall, but given the improvements they've made on the roster elsewhere, Huggins, Kent, and Locke won't be the reason Oklahoma fails to achieve its goals in 2025.
The biggest area of concern for the Sooners is actually along the offensive line. They've added talent in Derek Simmons, Jake Maikkula, Luke Baklenko, Michael Fasusi, and Ryan Fodje while retaining all of their key linemen from 2024. There were numerous issues in 2024. If the offensive line had been better, those issues wouldn't have been as magnified. If Oklahoma fixes its line, the Sooners will be a problem in the SEC. If it's more of the same, it could be another long year for the Sooners.

USA Today ranks Texas A&M's Kyle Field as one of best SEC stadiums
Texas A&M's well-documented success at Kyle Field since joining the Southeastern Conference in 2012 has placed the Aggies in the upper echelon of gameday environments in the league, according to a recent ranking by USA Today. That is a testament to the electric factory formed by members of Aggieland who turn every Saturday into one of the loudest environments in college football. Over 13 years in the conference, Texas A&M has never lost more than three contests at home in a single season, while also boasting a 61-23 overall record. The stadium's capacity of 102,733 ranks fourth in the country and first in the SEC, trailing only Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State. Per Texas A&M's record books, Kyle Field has averaged at least 100,000 fans five times since 2014. During the 2014-2014 season, the program set the single-game attendance record against Ole Miss, as 110,633 fans showed up with rally towels in hand to cheer on the Aggies. The Maroon and White faithful made the environment so loud that the noise in the stadium replicated a jet engine at 117 decibels. USA Today national college football columnist Blake Toppmeyer recently ranked all 16 SEC football stadiums, placing the Aggies at No. 7 on the list. "Kyle Field towers like no other, and it literally shakes when the noise swells," Toppmeyer said. "Love or mock the Aggie Yell Leaders, you can't deny they create a unique scene, and the Aggies entering to "POWER" is one of college football's best intros." Here are Toppmeyer's SEC football stadiums rankings: While Kyle Field ranks as one of the top environments in the country per Toppmeyer's list, the environment also ranks as the No. 11 most difficult place to play in the EA Sports College Football 26 video game. The multitude of rankings placing the gridiron in Bryan-College Station, Texas, seem to all be in a consensual agreement that the Aggies' stadium has consistently been one of the best in college football. Division-I head football coach qualifies for his state amateur
Tulsa isn't bringing back men's golf until next year, but one of its own has just qualified for one of the top tournaments in the state. That player also happens to be the Golden Hurricane's head football coach. Advertisement Tre Lamb shot 3-over 75 Thursday at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, to qualify for the Oklahoma State Amateur. The 35-year-old Lamb, who was hired in December after leading Gardner-Webb to its first Big South title in almost two decades, went out in even-par 36 before carding a bounce-back birdie, his second of the day, at the par-4 15th following a two-hole stretch of bogey-double. Lamb now advances to the championship, which is set for July 21-24 at Cedar Ridge Country Club, also in Broken Arrow. The tournament features 18 holes of stroke play followed by a 32-man match-play bracket.

SEC Network schedule for Texas A&M takeover revealed
The 2024 calendar year for Texas A&M Athletics was both memorable and forgettable, depending on the sport. However, nothing matches the departure of former Aggies head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle from the program just days after A&M fell to Tennessee in the College World Series Championship matchup, leaving to join the Texas Longhorns in an unpredictable move that only enhanced the rivalry that was renewed on the gridiron a year ago. Still, Texas A&M's championship run was by far one of the most exciting seasons in program history, and will remain in a positive light despite Schlossnagle leaving. Outside of baseball, the softball team nearly made it to the College World Series before losing to Texas in the Super Regionals, while the men's basketball team, during Buzz Williams' final year at the helm, made it back to the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive season. Texas A&M's 2024 football team entered a new era under head coach Mike Elko, who returned to College Station after two seasons leading the Duke Blue Devils and serving as Jimbo Fisher's defensive coordinator for four seasons. Elko and his new staff were provided a muligan like every new head coach, but after building a 7-1 record despite several key injury issues, the loss of star running back Le'Veon Moss, paired with then-freshman QB Marcel Reed's issues in the pocket, were too much to overcome. Despite A&M's 1-4 finish, there were plenty of incredible moments, including the comeback win over LSU during an electric night inside a packed Kyle Field. On Friday, it was announced that Texas A&M will take over the SEC Network's schedule, an annual event that typically occurs in July.
