At 9 p.m. Thursday, a uniformed Santa Rosa PD officer stopped Beccaria in his vehicle near Rohnert Park Expressway and State Farm Drive. He was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on the following charges:
Lewd acts with a minor
Contact with a minor with the intent to commit lewd acts
Arrange a meeting with a minor with the intent to commit lewd acts
Due to the age of the victim and the traumatizing nature of the incident, police are not releasing the student's name, age or grade. Despite an arrest being made, police say the investigation remains ongoing.

Palestinian lives lost in the pursuit of food aid in Gaza, in photos
BEIT LAHIYA, Gaza Strip (AP) — Palestinians mourned those who died or were injured while trying to reach trucks carrying humanitarian aid in the northern Gaza Strip. International pressure for Israel to let in more aid has increased the number of aid trucks entering Gaza, but almost none of it reaches U.N. warehouses for distribution . Instead, nearly all the trucks are stripped of their cargo by crowds that overwhelm them. The crowds are a mix of Palestinians desperate for food and gangs armed with knives, axes or guns who loot the goods to then hoard or sell. ___ This is a photo gallery curated by AP photo editors. Takhini trail closed due to presence of mother bear with cubs
The Sage Trail in the Takhini neighbourhood of Whitehorse is temporarily closed due to the presence of a bear with cubs in the area, according to a Facebook post from the City of Whitehorse. The trail runs parallel to Range Road, behind houses and buildings and the Takhini arena in the Takhini neighbourhood. According to the Facebook post, municipal parks staff closed the trail after receiving multiple reports of a mother bear with cubs in the area. People are being asked to avoid the area and obey posted signage. The closure of the Sage Trail comes after the Millennium Trail in Riverdale was also closed due to bear presence on July 21. Last year, a bear was killed by conservation officers after breaking into Yukon University , also located in the Takhini neighbourhood. Conservation officers were at the Sage Trail on the morning of July 31, according to the City's post. They will continue to monitor the area. If you see a bear in the area, you are encouraged to reach out to conservation officers at 1-800-661-0525. The City is asking people who use trails in the city to carry bear spray, slow down, stay alert, and make noise. Error! Sorry, there was an error processing your request. Teen sentenced to 10 months in custody for role in fatal stabbing of Halifax student
HALIFAX - A 17-year-old Halifax-area boy has been sentenced 10 months in a youth detention centre for his role in the stabbing death of a high school student during a brawl over a girl. Provincial youth court Judge Mark Heerema also sentenced the accused to 17 months of supervision in the community, during which he will continue receiving intensive rehabilitative treatment for mental health issues. The 27-month sentence was added to the 15 months the young offender has spent in custody since 16-year-old Ahmad Al Marrach was murdered in a parkade next to the Halifax Shopping Centre on April 22, 2024. The young offender pleaded guilty to manslaughter in October, having admitted he was one of four teens who attacked Al Marrach. All four accused were initially charged with second-degree murder, but a girl who was 14 at the time of the killing pleaded guilty to manslaughter in October and was sentenced to three months in custody followed by two years of supervision in the community. The boy who fatally stabbed Al Marrach, who was 14 at the time of the attack, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in January, and his sentencing hearing will resume Sept. 12. Meanwhile, another 17-year-old boy who the Crown said was responsible for organizing the fight, was convicted of manslaughter last month by a youth court judge. His weeklong sentencing hearing starts Oct. 20. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 1, 2025. Error! Sorry, there was an error processing your request.
