Salman Khan Reveals His Minimal Diet And Salim Khan's Fitness Routine At 89: ‘Metabolism Alag Hai'
Last Updated:
Salman Khan shares his minimalist diet and praises his father Salim Khan's fitness at 89. 'He still walks to Bandstand every morning. His metabolism is different,' says the actor.
Salman Khan brought laughter, nostalgia, and heartfelt moments to the premiere episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, and his appearance has since become one of the most viewed and talked-about highlights of the new season. Joined by Kapil Sharma, Archana Puran Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu (returning to the show after five years), and comedians like Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, and Kiku Sharda, Salman's segment was packed with candid confessions and vintage Salman charm.
One particularly touching moment came when Salman opened up about his father, the legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, and his inspiring health routine at the age of 89. In a clip shared by Sidhu on his YouTube channel, Salman said, 'My dad, touchwood, Mashallah, he tells me that 'meri khuraq khatam ho gayi hai' (my appetite has gone down) but touchwood, he is like, 2-3 paranthe, then rice, the gosht, then dessert, twice a day. Unka ek metabolism alag hai. Unka discipline alag hai."
Salman continued, adding how Salim Khan remains dedicated to his fitness, 'So he has been walking all the way to Bandstand and back every single morning. We're so happy to see that. We are so proud that we have a father who's fighting it out."
The actor then delved into his own eating habits, revealing that discipline is key to his lifestyle too, 'I'll eat anything but won't overeat. Like say, 1 spoon rice or at max one and a half, whatever vegetables, then chicken or mutton or fish."
Salman also took a moment to reflect on his influence in introducing gym culture to Bollywood, 'I think I was one of the first actors who really brought in the gym culture to the industry. I remember people thought it was unnecessary at first. Now you see actors and even our legends, like Dharam ji (Dharmendra), who still works out and looks incredible."
Despite the lukewarm response to his last release Sikandar, Salman shows no signs of slowing down. He is reportedly set to begin filming a war drama based on the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict, directed by Apoorva Lakhia. He's also said to be in talks with Kabir Khan for the much-awaited sequel, Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2.
With his signature blend of humour, humility, and heart, Salman Khan once again proved why he remains one of India's most beloved stars—on screen and off.

Squid Game director reveals real-world figures who inspired VIPs: ‘They no longer hide behind a curtain'
The Squid Game series was inspired by some real-life experiences of director Hwang Dong Hyuk. In the show, we mostly follow the players, poor and desperate, ready to kill each other for money. And while we kept slamming some players for behaving selfishly, the show makes it clear that the real villains are not the players, but the ultra-rich watching from the top. These are the VIPs, treating the lives of people they consider beneath them as nothing more than a circus for their amusement. In a recent interview with Time magazine, director Hwang opened up about how some of the biggest tech billionaires and those in power inspired the role, and whether some of the characters have real-life resemblance. The VIP's first appeared in season 1, episode 7 and were shown as filthy rich people gulping alcohol, speaking English, wearing gold animal masks, and betting on the players' lives. They treat it like gambling on horses. In Season 1, they stayed in their luxury rooms and watched everything from behind the scenes, pampered and protected by the Front Man, played by Lee Byung Hun. Later, it was revealed that Oh Il Nam was the head of VIP's who played as player 001. He was dying, so he created the game for fun, a jab at how the rich are disconnected from human life and suffering. In season 3, however, these VIP's get down into the game themselves, take off their masks and kill people with their bare hands. Also read: Squid Game Season 3 ending explained: The truth about Gi Hun's fate, the mystery woman, and all survivors Director Hwang Dong Hyuk said this was intentional. He wanted to show how the rich no longer even bother to hide their power. 'In the past, those that really controlled the system and maintained power were hidden behind the curtain, almost like this big unseen conspiracy. However, it's no longer the case, especially in America,' Hwang told Time. 'We talk a lot about oligarchy these days, but these so-called big tech owners, they step up, telling everyone who they're backing with their money. They willingly take their masks off, almost as if to declare, 'We're the ones running everything. We're the ones in control,' he added. Director Hwang said that while the concept of the VIPs is not based on one person, while writing the final script, he started seeing some familiarity with the current scenario in the world. Like Elon Musk, for example. 'Elon Musk is everywhere these days, right?' Hwang said, adding, 'Everybody talks about him. Not only is he the head of a huge tech company that controls the world almost, but he's also a showman. After writing [Season 3], of course I thought, 'Oh, some of the VIPs do kind of resemble Elon Musk.'' The director even revealed that, although it was very unintentional and he didn't plan it that way, one of the VIPs also resembles US President Donald Trump. Also read: Squid Game 3 ending: 7 burning questions answered in Netflix thriller finale; future possibilities explored Hwang, during the interview, also revealed how his own struggle with money and the 2008 financial crisis shaped this story. He spoke about the recent political fights in South Korea, referring to the president's impeachment, and even the US Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, when some Trump supporters stormed into the building. All these events made him realise the extent people go when driven by hate and greed. He feels that people have forgotten how to disagree and now outright disregard others as evil. And with the rise of AI, algorithms, and fake news, Hwang began to ask: 'Are elections even working anymore?' In the second-last episode, players are even told to vote on who to kill next, and one option is to eliminate the baby in Gi Hun's hands. That's when one Player says, 'Let's vote on who should get eliminated, and keep it democratic, like they're not talking about murder.'

Video: Zohran Mamdani Gets Awkward As Host Plays His Old Clip In Apron During Live Show
Last Updated: In one of the visuals, Mamdani was seen rapping while wearing a only black apron. New York Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was taken aback when his 2019 old rap video that showed him wearing an apron without anything underneath, was played during a live interview on global media outlet CNN. This happened when the 33-year-old politician appeared for Erin Burnett OutFront talk show. Show host Erin Burnett played the assemblyman's rap video suddenly. In the video, Zohran Mamdani, along with several others, was seen dancing at various locations, including inside a food truck. The video was posted on YouTube under the name of Mr. Cardamom. In the throwback video, the state assemblyman was joined by his friends and Indian-born British-American actress Madhur Jaffrey. In one of the visuals, Mamdani was seen rapping while wearing a only black apron. During the conversation, the anchor started playing videos from Mamdani's recent campaigns, including one in which he talked about his birth place and the story about how he got his middle name. As the interview progressed, a snippet from his appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast appeared on the screen. It was followed by Burnett introducing the politician's artistic side and playing the rap clip. As the rap continued, Mamdani, apparently shocked, tried to maintain his composure by smiling. However, eventually, he gave in, saying, 'I didn't think it was going to be on CNN." To which, the host replied, 'It's there and there it is." Later, the video was posted on the official X profile of the Erin Burnett OutFront show with a caption that read, Watch as #NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani watches his past performance as a rapper and responds to critics who say he's not ready to run New York. He speaks one-on-one with @ErinBurnett. Recently, Mamdani faced intense scrutiny from Tennessee Republican Congressman Andy Ogles who publicly questioned the legitimacy of his US citizenship, calling for his deportation if it was fraudulently obtained. Mamdani was born in Uganda to Indian parents and immigrated to the United States two decades ago and became a naturalized US citizen in 2018. Since 2020, he has served in the New York State Assembly and recently clinched the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City. One such tale is of a superhit song that came seven decades however, this melody is still a treat to the ears and withstands the test of time. The film Barsaat was a blockbuster, and it featured legends like Nargis, Premnath, and a debutant Nimmi, who came in the superhit song that redefined her career. The film was set in the scenic valleys of Kashmir and was visually rich. However, it was the song 'Hawa Mein Udta Jaye' that captivated the audiences. The song was sung by the legendary Lata Mangeshkar and composed by the legendary duo Shankar-Jaikishan, and written by Dr. Ramesh Shastri. Besides this, Nimmi looked beautiful in black and white, which encapsulated her natural charm and innocence. Remix that created a sensation Fast-forward to 1997, 48 years after the release of 'Hawa Mein Udta Jaye Mera Laal Dupatta Malmal Ka', its remix came out that featured Gauahar Khan. The remix version was made by Bombay Viking and, unlike the common conception about remixes, this remake also made a mark and quickly became a chartbuster. Keeping the original vibe alive, the remake added a westernised touch that resonates with the new generation audience. From radio channels, DJ nights to other music channels, this song created a ruckus everywhere. What's interesting is that the original and remake, both versions, received equal love and appreciation, making it a hit on the charts for years. It has received millions of views on YouTube, and it still has a charm.
