Extra police search powers after knife attacks
A 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man were found with stab wounds in Stockport Road, Longsight, at 17:00 BST on Saturday. They remain in hospital and three men aged 18 were arrested.
On Friday, a 24-year-old man with stab wounds went to A&E after an assault on Moss Lane East, Moss Side, at 20:00 BST. No arrests were made.
A section 60 order is in place for 24 hours from 18:00 BST on Saturday in the area of Stockport Road, (at the Asda junction), Upper Brook Street, Princess Road, Platt Lane, and Dickenson Road.
Det Insp Richard Struttman said: "These incidents have resulted in three male victims being treated in hospital for serious injuries."
Extra officers and patrols have been deployed in the area to "provide a high visibility presence and offer community reassurance", Greater Manchester Police said.

Rosie Roche was the granddaughter of Princess Diana's uncle Rosie Roche, a cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry, has died at 20 years old. Roche, who was the granddaughter of Princess Diana's uncle, died at her family's home in Norton, Wiltshire, on Monday, July 14, with a "firearm nearby," according to a report from The Sun. The outlet reported that her mother and sister found her after she began packing for a vacation with friends, and a firearm was found close by inside the property. A coroner in Wiltshire and Swindon has opened an investigation, which has been adjourned until Oct. 25, according to The Sun. Coroner Grant Davies said that police "have deemed the death as non-suspicious and there was no third-party involvement," per The Sun. Roche was a student at Durham University, and was working on her degree in English Literature. A spokeswoman told The Sun that the royal family's cousin "will be sorely missed." In an obituary published by the Yorkshire Post on Saturday, July 19, family members remembered her as a "darling" daughter, sister and granddaughter. "Roche, Rosie Jeanne Burke. Died on Monday 14th July 2025," the obituary states. "Darling daughter of Hugh and Pippa, incredible sister to Archie and Agatha, Granddaughter to Derek and Rae Long." "Private family funeral. A memorial service will be held at a later date," it added. The news of the 20-year-old's death comes more than one year after Thomas Kingston, a British financier who was the husband of Lady Gabriella and former boyfriend of Pippa Middleton, died at age 45. The Feb. 25, 2024 death of Kingston was described as 'impulsive" and "unexpected' at a pre-inquest review, according to the BBC. Kingston died from a catastrophic head injury, and a gun was found near his body at his parents' home in the Cotswolds, spokesperson for the coroner's office previously told PEOPLE. In December, Lady Gabriella, who is a second cousin to King Charles, broke her silence during an inquest at Gloucestershire Coroner's Court, revealing the circumstances surrounding her husband's death. Police in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania, search for suspect who attacked man during attempted car break-in
Police in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania, are asking for the public's help to identify a suspect who they say assaulted a man during an attempted car break-in. Police say it's just the latest crime like this to happen in the area. Detectives in Haverford Township say around 2:40 a.m. Friday the suspect attempted to break into a truck parked outside a home along the 500 block of Kathmere Road. Video shows the owner walking out of his front door as he sees the crime in action before confronting the suspect. Seconds later, the suspect throws the man to the ground, punches him and takes off. "He got cut, lacerations on his arm, he got banged up pretty good," said John Viola, chief of police for Haverford Township. The victim, who police say is in his 60s, was treated at the hospital for his injuries. The suspect was seen later that night along Brentwood Road and the 400 block of Earlington Road before taking off in a dark-colored sedan. Viola said this is just the latest in a rash of car break-ins across the area. "All the surrounding police departments are dealing with it, cars being stolen," Viola said. "We had eight cars stolen in a two-week period, and I think Upper Darby had 16 in a three-week period." He also said these are often crimes of opportunity. "They're coming out here and just trying car doors, but on the higher-end cars all they have to do is look at the mirrors. If the mirrors aren't closed, they know the car is unlocked, and you would be surprised how many people actually leave their key fobs in the car," Viola said. Police say the victim's wife, who was on hospice, had passed away just an hour before this attempted robbery, and his extended family was gathered at the home at the time of the crime. Neighbors who heard about what happened were saddened by it all. "Everybody has got to be vigilant and watch out for your neighbors," said Rob Cromie, a Haverford Township resident. "I hate to say it, it seems like it is happening more frequently," said Lauren Marsteller, who also lives in the neighborhood. She said she's now on alert as the suspect remains on the run. "We moved here because this is a nice area, nice schools and wonderful neighbors, and it's like the last thing we want to worry about on our street," Marsteller said.
