Olivia Rodrigo dressed like strawberries and cream for Wimbledon in a vintage gingham look

Yahooa day ago
It's the battle of the patterns this summer, with polka dots and gingham replacing 'quiet luxury' as the trending styles of the season. If you were ever stuck between which print to go for, Olivia Rodrigo's latest look has firmly placed her in the latter camp.
Yesterday, the Vampire singer attended day three of Wimbledon in a quintessentially British outfit, arriving to the courts in a red and white checked dress that featured a fitted shirt silhouette and a hemline that fell to just below her knees. Not only was this an adorable picnic-inspired look, but the dress also happened to be a vintage Ralph Lauren piece from the early 2000s, making it older than Rodrigo herself.
The star continued her sartorial ode to strawberries and cream with a red suede east-west shoulder bag by Khaite, further accessorising with a pair of slimline cherry-hued sunglasses.
For her court-side beauty look, Rodrigo wore her glossy dark brunette hair in a centre-parting with loose curls, and kept her make-up polished with a rosy-hued pink lipstick and neutral short manicure.
The three-time Grammy winner was joined by her beau, the actor Louis Partridge, who also demonstrated sharp Wimbledon dressing in a blue and white striped shirt, navy blazer, light sand chinos and a burgundy and yellow tie.
Rodrigo understandably took the opportunity of the tennis championship event to enjoy some downtime after a monumental week, having performed her biggest UK show to date at Hyde Park's British Summertime Festival last Friday before heading to Glastonbury for her headline performance on Sunday.
During her set at Worthy Farm, the singer gave a nod to the British punk subculture in a custom white leather bustier dress with lace cups and a ruffled skirt by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, styling it with a pair of black fishnet tights and grungy knee-high Doc Marten lace-up boots. Mid-way through her performance, she changed into a custom mini T-shirt and sequinned union jack hot pants by the New York designer Danielle Guizio.
Long may her UK style streak continue.

Fans rally behind Emma Raducanu in searing heat ahead of Wimbledon showdown

Emma Raducanu fever has gripped Wimbledon as fans gathered in scorching 26C sunshine to support the British tennis number one ahead of her blockbuster third-round clash with Aryna Sabalenka. Crowds queued around Centre Court with Pimm's in hand and sun hats on to watch the 22-year-old take on the world number one in one of the most anticipated matches of the Championships so far. Amid the surge of interest in Raducanu's Centre Court showdown, stewards had begun turning fans away from the queue, warning that ground pass capacity was close to being reached. Among the supporters were Amy Stainthorpe, 25, and Hannah Wicks, 24, both working in fashion buying, who said: 'You've got to support the girls. 'That's why we're here – the men take all of the spotlight, but it's great to see a lady running things.' Beth Swinburne, 30, Liv Shackleton, 31, and Rose Butler, 29, all from London, said: 'She's so fab – girls in sport. Girl power.' Miss Shackleton said: 'I think she's been really open about mental health struggles as well.' Miss Butler said: 'I can't wait to have Pimm's on the hill and watch her.' Jonathan Mack, 36, an investment manager from London, said: 'She's British, she's very pretty, she's very good at tennis. We'll be cheering her on.' 'Obviously there are rumours she's with Alcaraz – she's got a smile on her face, a bit of spring in her step. 'Maybe a bit of love is helping her. Perhaps he might be there watching her.' Inside Centre Court, the Royal Box began to fill with famous faces including Gary Lineker, Anthony Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn – who arrived in near-matching cream jackets – alongside Dame Mary Berry, Professor Brian Cox and astronaut Tim Peake. The stands were packed with spectators shielding themselves from the heat as anticipation built for what promises to be one of the standout matches of the tournament. Raducanu's clash with Sabalenka on Centre Court follows matches between Taylor Fritz and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Carlos Alcaraz and Jan-Lennard Struff. Raducanu has been embracing the Wimbledon experience this week, training alongside world number one Jannik Sinner and spending time with childhood friends and long-time mentor Jane O'Donoghue. The 22-year-old described watching Sinner as a chance to 'learn by osmosis', while calling it 'really special' to have her closest friends and support team with her during the tournament. Facing top seed Sabalenka represents one of the toughest challenges in women's tennis, but Raducanu said she plans to be aggressive and 'creative', adding: 'You can't really do nothing or give nothing balls to her.'

British Embassy Trolls US on Independence Day: 'Hope It Pours Down'

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The British Embassy has trolled the U.S. on Independence Day by posting a meme on social media implying it hoped for bad weather in the U.S. Posting on X, the British Embassy's in Washington mocked the U.S., as people around the country celebrate the federal holiday. Why It Matters The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is a U.S. federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when 13 American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain. It is typically celebrated with large gatherings and fireworks display, though this year several cities have canceled or postponed events, citing concerns about immigration enforcement and overcrowding. David Carson/St. Louis Post-Dispatch via AP By poking fun at the U.S., the British Embassy is reflecting the historical context of long-ago poor relations between the two countries. Since then though, the two countries enjoy a strong alliance, which was dubbed a "special relationship" by U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the 40s—a term that remains today What To Know The embassy account used a popular meme format, a series of stills taken from a conversation between English soccer player, David Beckham, and his musician wife, Victoria Beckham, from their 2023 documentary series, Beckham. It imagined a conversation between the pair which started with Victoria Beckham wishing the U.S. well and ended with her saying: "I hope it pours down and the BBQs go out." "Enjoy your big day! Honestly..." the account added. 🇺🇸 Enjoy your big day! Honestly... — British Embassy Washington (@UKinUSA) July 4, 2025 It is not the first time the British Embassy has trolled the U.S. On May 21, International Tea Day, the account mocked Americans for drinking iced tea and, in June, it joked "We're not usually ones to celebrate British Army defectors" in reference to a statue of George Washington in London. The U.S. Embassy in London has not responded to the jibe, and has only posted on X: "Happy 4th of July everyone!" What People Are Saying Writing on X, one user wrote: "This is the best 4th of July meme I've seen. Well played, Brits. Glad we are friends now." Another user wrote: "British humour is impossible to beat." And another said: "That's a very long grudge. Still stings??" What Happens Next Despite some cancellations, the vast majority of Fourth of July events will still take place across the country. On Independence Day weekend, a series of demonstrations, rallies and other events protesting the Trump administration have also been planned across the country.
