Blueberry spill causes literal 'traffic jam' in British Columbia
The Mission RCMP said on social media that a white Ford pickup truck stopped at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Wren Street, and when the vehicle started moving again moments later, several crates of freshly-picked blueberries fell into the roadway.
"Some crates went crashing down onto the roadway, and thousands of blueberries spilled out onto Lougheed Highway, creating a sticky mess for vehicles that drove over the fruit.," the post said.
RCMP officers "were called to the juicy incident" and used a shovel to push the sticky remains out of the roadway.
"Perhaps Mission RCMP could team up with the Mission Farmer's Market in the future, to feature some new offerings such as: Jack-Knife Jelly, Pothole Preserves and the ever-popular Traffic Jam," the post joked.

As Chance's impromptu murder investigation gets underway on Young & Restless, he'll have to question everyone at the chateau in Nice. As Devon pointed out in the weekly preview, they're all suspects. The case will cause massive troubles for one possible suspect even though they have an ironclad alibi. In fact, it's the alibi itself that will present the problem! While the likes of Jack and Diane roamed the maze, the shocking murder of Damian Kane took place in the statue garden. Phyllis witnessed the tail end of the attack, Cane, of course, was with the victim, and his lawyer, Amanda, was with Lily, but everyone else has yet to account for their whereabouts at the time of the killing. We're not sure why he feels this way given Kyle's track record, but that's neither here nor there. Indeed, the last time Young & Restless viewers saw Kyle, he was in Audra's sleeping cabin indulging in a celebratory champagne toast after Cane had agreed to help them salvage their 'perfume battle' publicity campaign. We don't know if things went any further than that, but the bottom line is that whether they hopped into bed together or not… they're now each other's alibi. Unfortunately for Kyle, this is hugely problematic. Word is bound to spread that Kyle and Audra were together at the time of the murder, thus clearing them of suspicion but landing the Abbott in an impossibly horrible situation. Even if he stayed true to Claire, Victor's got the ammunition he needs to make it appear otherwise. Kyle signed a contract promising to leave Genoa City and pay The Mustache $5 million smackeroos if he hurt Claire. Guess what? When Grandpa tells his grieving granddaughter that Kyle was canoodling with Audra while she was dealing with the death of her dad… she's gonna be hurt. Yep, Kyle may manage to escape being a suspect in a bloody murder, but his ironclad alibi is set to bring a veritable mountain of trouble down on his head, SOAPS readers. Chiefs' Rashee Rice gets 30-day jail sentence for high-speed crash

File Photo by David Tulis/UPI | License Photo July 17 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Chiefs' Rashee Rice received a 30-day jail sentence and five years' probation for his role in a 2024 crash, the Dallas County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday. "Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas," Rice said in a statement issued through his attorney. "There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole. I urge everyone to mind the speed limit, drive safe and drive smart. "Last and certainly not least, i am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property. I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families." Rice, 25, pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges, including collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury, on Thursday in the 194th Judicial District Court in Dallas. He is still subject to discipline, including a potential suspension, through the NFL's personal conduct policy. "We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter which remains under review," the league said in a statement. Rice's charges stem from the crash that happened at about 6 p.m. local time March 30, 2024 during rush hour. Rice was found to have made aggressive maneuvers while driving a 2020 Lamborghini Urus SUV, which prosecutors said was traveling 119 mph 4.5 seconds before hitting the first of several vehicles. The collisions sparked a chain reaction that also impacted other vehicles. Rice then left the scene. Rice's plea agreement with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office includes a requirement for him to pay restitution totaling nearly $115,500 to all victims for their out-of-pocket medical expenses, in addition to his five years of deferred probation and 30-day jail sentence as a condition of the probation. "When someone of Mr. Rice's public platform chooses to drive so recklessly, there is a responsibility to acknowledge the danger posed to others and take accountability," district attorney John Creuzot said. "A vehicle in the wrong hands can be as dangerous as any weapon. We are extremely fortunate that no lives were lost that day, and Mr. Rice is fortunate to have walked away unharmed. "We hope he takes this as an opportunity to mature and leads by example moving forward. I wish him the best in making safer choices." Rice, 25, joined the Chiefs as a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The former SMU star totaled 938 yards and eight scores during his rookie season. He also caught 26 passes for 262 yards and a score that postseason to help the Chiefs win a Super Bowl title. Rice totaled 24 catches for 288 yards and two scores over four starts in 2024-25. He sustained a season-ending knee injury in the Chiefs' Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Chiefs players will report for training camp Monday at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.

Bondi, Burgum to inspect Alcatraz Island prison

File Photo by Terry Schmitt/UPI | License Photo July 17 (UPI) -- Attorney General Pam Bondi and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum are in San Francisco to inspect the former Alcatraz Island federal prison ahead of its potential reopening. A Fox News correspondent is accompanying Bondi as she and Burgum on Thursday tour the prison facility that closed in 1963 after the former military installation was converted into a federal prison in 1934. President Donald Trump has proposed reopening the facility, but the White House has not confirmed Bondi and Burgum are touring Alcatraz. There is no indication regarding whether or not Bondi and Burgum will address media during their visit. An aircraft bearing the markings "United States of America" on its sides landed at an airport in the San Francisco Bay area on Wednesday night, the Independent reported. Trump has called Alcatraz a "symbol of law and order" that formerly housed many of the nation's most dangerous criminals, including former gangsters Al Capone, Whitey Bulger, Bumpy Johnson and George Kelly Barnes, aka Machine GunKelly. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has called Trump's idea to reopen Alcatraz as a maximum-security prison the president's "stupidest initiative yet." The island has been a popular tourist destination since it closed and generates about $60 million per year in tourism revenue. The visit comes as Bondi faces scrutiny from within Republican ranks for initially saying she would release files regarding the death of former financier Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide while jailed in New York City in 2019. Epstein was a convicted sex offender who faced federal charges related to allegedly running a child sex enterprise. Instead of releasing the Epstein files, Bondi earlier this month released a memo saying Epstein committed suicide while in jail. Bondi's memo triggered a backlash from many Republicans and others, including FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino. Bongino has accused Bondi of mishandling the matter and missed several days of work last week after allegedly arguing with her during a high-level meeting. He resumed work on Monday. Amid the uproar, Trump urged Republicans to stop the infighting and move on from the Epstein case and its files, which he said don't matter. "Let Pam Bondi do her job -- she's great!" Trump said in a Truth Social post. Bondi on Tuesday said she had no intention of resigning as the nation's attorney general. "I'm going to be here for as long as the president wants me here," Bondi told media on Tuesday.
