• Quiz show opens August 24
• Students to join company teams
• Sector champions face off later
Seef Mall will become the stage for a high-energy youth-business competition next month, as the 9th Annual Business Quiz Show returns under the 'Design Your Future' campaign.
The event, scheduled to launch on August 24th, will bring together university students and corporate teams in a sector-driven knowledge contest open to the public.
The announcement confirms the renewal of Seef Properties' partnership with the campaign, which began its second season in April.
With Mastercard as the Knowledge Partner, the DYF initiative continues to encourage young Bahrainis to shape their career paths through real-world engagement.
Real-world exposure
The competition will unfold across four evenings, with a Grand Finale planned for August 28th.
Students will be embedded within company teams, offering them first-hand exposure to leadership, collaboration, and sector-specific challenges.
Three themed evenings will focus on Bahrain's economic priorities, including Banking & Finance, Fintech, Insurance, Industry, and Services.
Each sector will see four teams competing in fast-paced challenges that test applied knowledge and problem-solving under pressure.
Though it began behind closed doors, the Business Quiz Show is now staged publicly in Bahrain's busiest mall, drawing crowds and corporate leaders to witness young talent in action.
'Seef Mall, Seef District, is pleased to host this important event, reinforcing our commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders,' said Ahmed Yusuf, CEO of Seef Properties. 'We look forward to welcoming participants, professionals, and visitors from across the business community.'
Public, practical, purposeful
Organisers say the quiz show is designed to serve as more than just a contest.
It is also a career readiness platform that connects students with experienced professionals and sector leaders in a competitive but supportive environment.
'This platform provides university students with a unique opportunity to engage with top Bahraini professionals in a real-world setting,' said Zahraa Taher, Chairperson of the DYF Advisory Committee. 'We anticipate another exciting season that will highlight youth excellence.'
DYF is backed by the Higher Education Council, INJAZ Bahrain, Tamkeen, Lamea, and certified career coaches.
Their combined input helps align the competition with the Kingdom's workforce needs and national talent development goals.
Final showdown
Winners from each sector round will qualify for the Grand Finale, which will close out the contest on August 28th.
Organisers expect strong public turnout and participation, as the mall location opens the event to wider community engagement.
The full list of participating companies has yet to be revealed, but organisers say the event will continue to spotlight Bahraini talent and elevate youth potential on a national stage.

Seef Mall reimagines future

TDT | Manama Seef Properties has announced a bold relaunch plan for Seef Mall in the Seef District, aiming to reimagine the Kingdom's oldest mall for a new generation. Over the next two years, the destination will undergo a phased transformation blending retail, entertainment, and lifestyle spaces under a modern, climate-aligned vision. The redevelopment begins with a facelift to the jewellery section to match Bahrain's growing appetite for luxury. Global fashion brand Kiabi, making its debut in the country, will be among several new international names setting up shop at the mall. Family and fun A major draw will be the revival of Magic Island, now reborn with over 3,900 square metres of themed fun and 600 square metres dedicated to immersive games for children. A separate 2,500-square-metre youth zone will offer creative and recreational programming tailored to the tastes of Gen Z and families alike. Dining, too, is getting a makeover, with indoor-outdoor concepts designed to enhance the visitor experience. Upgraded parking and green spaces, including shaded walkways and family gathering zones, aim to improve access and comfort. Sustainability push More than a cosmetic overhaul, the redevelopment embeds climate goals into its core. Energy- and water-saving technologies will be introduced to cut the mall's carbon footprint, supporting Bahrain's 2060 net-zero ambition. 'This strategic redevelopment reflects our long-term vision,' said Ahmed Yusuf, CEO of Seef Properties, noting the project's alignment with both market trends and national economic development. Future focus Seef Mall, which pioneered integrated shopping and entertainment in Bahrain, now seeks to redefine what it means to be a destination in a post-pandemic, eco-conscious era. As retail pivots toward immersive and sustainable experiences, this makeover positions Seef Mall to remain at the forefront of the region's evolving consumer landscape.

Bahrain gets exclusive Arabic Jewellery brand as Malabar expands retail concept

TDT | Manama Bahrain has been chosen as one of only two Gulf countries to host two showrooms of a new jewellery brand dedicated exclusively to Arabic designs, following a regional rollout by Malabar Gold & Diamonds. The new concept, branded 'Mojawhraty by Malabar', was launched across six locations in the GCC, with outlets in Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Bahrain now hosts two branches, at Bahrain City Centre and Bab Al Bahrain, making it a key destination in Malabar's regional strategy to serve Arab consumers. Cultural identity The initiative marks a significant shift in the retail giant's strategy, as it moves beyond general collections to offer a niche brand focused entirely on Arabic jewellery traditions. The designs available under the Mojawhraty brand are crafted in 18K, 21K, and 22K gold, and also feature certified natural diamonds. Malabar Group Chairman M.P. Ahammad said the concept was part of the company's larger goal of becoming the top global jewellery retailer. 'Expanding our design portfolio across diverse cultural and value chains is a key focus. With six showrooms across the GCC and more on the horizon, we are confident that Mojawhraty by Malabar will be welcomed with open arms by jewellery lovers in the region,' he said. Arab appeal According to Malabar officials, the new format aims to reflect the preferences of modern Arab consumers while staying rooted in heritage. 'The rich legacy of Arabic jewellery and its profound cultural relevance has long inspired us,' said Abdul Salam K.P., Vice Chairman of Malabar Group. 'With Mojawhraty, we have created a distinct platform that will offer customers an immersive and personalised retail experience focused exclusively on Arabic design traditions.' Each piece is backed by the 'Mojawhraty Promise', which includes benefits such as guaranteed buyback, lifetime maintenance, 100 percent value on diamond exchange, and exclusive use of certified stones. Further growth The brand plans further expansion across the region, with company officials confirming that the GCC debut is only the beginning of what they described as an 'ambitious growth roadmap.' The launch of Mojawhraty follows Malabar's ongoing efforts to strengthen its international retail footprint. The group currently operates more than 400 showrooms across 13 countries, with annual revenues exceeding $7 billion.

DANAT opens registration for Gem-A Foundation and Diploma programs

The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) has officially opened registration for the internationally recognised Gem-A Gemmology Foundation Programme and the Gemmology Diploma Programme, both accredited by the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A). As the first institution in the Middle East to be accredited by Gem-A, DANAT will offer these advanced academic tracks starting in September, sponsored by the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). Obtaining the internationally recognized Gemmology Diploma Programme certificate unlocks a wealth of career opportunities in the fast-growing global gemstone market, where demand for qualified experts continues to rise. This demand is particularly significant in light of the limited number of Bahraini professionals in the field and the increasing need to develop local expertise. As a result, programme graduates are well-equipped to pursue rewarding careers across both the local and international jewelry industries. The programme is part of DANAT's broader initiative to offer globally certified educational opportunities in gemmological sciences. Participants will also have access to the use of internationally respected professional titles, including FGA, which denotes completion of the Gemmology Diploma. The Gem-A Gemmology Foundation Programme is designed to support individuals aspiring to build or advance a career in the gemstone and jewellery sectors. It provides a rigorous introduction to the field and is particularly valuable for those looking to establish a strong foundational skillset. With over 110 years of expertise embedded in its curriculum, the programme is delivered by a team of experienced and certified instructors. The programme spans 16 weeks, with instruction held one day per week over a four-month period. Participants will engage in over 300 hours of integrated theoretical and practical training, delivered within a cutting-edge educational setting designed to foster personalised learning and skill development. Commenting on the launch, Mrs. Noora Jamsheer, CEO of DANAT, highlighted the programme's transformative potential: 'This internationally accredited programme presents a valuable opportunity for individuals aspiring to build a sustainable and impactful career in the gemstone sector, whether in the fields of research, academia, laboratory analysis, or the commercial jewellery industry. By enrolling in these programmes, participants gain access to cutting-edge knowledge and hands-on expertise that empower them to launch entrepreneurial initiatives, strengthen their investment acumen in gemstones, and explore a broad spectrum of roles across the entire jewellery industry.' Mrs. Jamsheer further affirmed her confidence in the role these programmes will play in addressing regional talent gaps, and emphasised their alignment with Bahrain's Vision 2030, particularly in nurturing human capital in specialised strategic fields. By cultivating a new generation of highly qualified gemmological professionals, DANAT reinforces its dedication to advancing Bahrain's status as a global hub for gemstones and jewellery expertise and ensuring long-term industry development in line with international standards.
